  1. Yes - poppies on on the shirts yesterday.
  2. Neither of them are regular first choice CB's - although the two games they've been paired together we've only conceded 1 goal per game, as opposed to the 3 or 4 per game which we've become accustomed to away from home. In a warped kind of way, that seems like progress!
  3. I bow to your superior knowledge of the financial transactions within the club, unfortunately I don't have access to such information until the official accounts are published.
  4. Yes, I think it was for any players which he signed on, and were later sold.
  5. It is embarrassing that some fans still talk of them as billionaires who own a bank. In fairness, I'm not aware of any of this coming from what the family said at the time of the takeover, just hype from the likes of the EP with their story about Wael's watch and some people are stupid enough to suck it up as gospel. Our stadium isn't really League One ready - some of the away grounds we've visited are proof of that. Things appear to have been reined in recently, I've no idea why - maybe because money is not flowing as easily as it was previously in some Middle Eastern countries? Rovers is not their main business, and I guess that puts us down the pecking order in their portfolio with regard to financing if things are getting tough elsewhere.
  6. Darrell Clarke recently pointed out that there is not a great deal of difference between top half of League Two and mid table League One, whereas the gulf between League One and Championship is far greater. I think that our more level headed fans are aware of this too.
  7. Not heard of it being discussed there - far more important issues on the Agenda, like the pie tasting session!
  8. Ha ha - that wasn't my meaning, but if the cap fits! Seriously, I know that there are a few on here who are knowledgeable about company law, accounting, and such things - I'm always happy to be educated.
  9. I just wondered where the 6% interest rate has been published? The last set of available accounts cover some of the period of the Wonga loan, so surely the actual interest on Wael loans won't be clarified until the next set of accounts? On the other hand, I might be talking out of my arse, as I'm not a qualified accountant!
  10. Yes, I don't know what the history behind it is, but he is always very curt with Ed Hadwin.
  11. Sounds as though the bartender who spoke to the press should be able to identify her, as he witnessed her outside punching the horse, and then again when she returned to the pub. The CCTV must cover the door, so if she went in and out in a short space of time the police should be able to get some good images for identification. Let's hope that the horse doesn't have to make a complaint in order for them to follow it up!
  12. Indeed. I know that for those of a certain generation racist comments were considered quite acceptable - hopefully we are getting closer to having a generation which advocates zero tolerance.
  13. No mention of singing during the minutes silence. Would have been better if they'd just kept their stupid mouths shut afterwards too.
  14. I find it hard to believe that nobody has uttered a racist remark there since the 1980's.
  15. I can understand why people have that impression, and I know we have an element which has unfortunately not moved with the times, and probably never will. The number of incidents recorded would be a lot lower if our fans weren't reporting people, and then the club following it up with public warnings. Sadly this all probably goes over the heads of the real neanderthals who hold these views, but hopefully some of the youngsters might realise that it's neither big nor clever. We can but hope!
  16. Imagine supporting a club in 2017 that doesn't just ignore the fact there are still a small minority who express racist views, and that said club are actually aware of this because their own supporters are calling out the culprits. Anybody who thinks that their own club is TOTALLY free from racism is burying their heads in the sand.
  17. Wasn't trying to justify anything - just giving further info on the incident. Similarly I've not denied, or tried to condone, previous incidents - I am under no illusions that everybody who supports the same club as me are angels, who never transgress from the straight and narrow. Every club has morons of various levels, although some people prefer not to notice it amongst their own, I like to keep the blinkers off as they cause tunnel vision.
  18. Yes, there has always been a minority - sometimes vociferous, and previously others would have joined in without giving any thought to what they were saying/singing. It's a positive step that people now feel able to report it - the club have set up communication a system which can be used on matchdays, and is followed up immediately, which is what happened yesterday. The club are also making these incidents, and how they are dealt with, public, which may make people think twice about making such comments in the future. It's sad that this still rears it's ugly head 20 years after "the bad old days" were begininng to be consigned to the history books. Unfortunately, with the diverse society which we now live in, it may well turn out to be bubbling under the surface again.
  19. It doesn't make it right, as I said in my post! Unfortunately, when people have used racial slurs, which have gone unchallenged for the majority of their lives, it is very difficult to re-educate them. The best we can do is to make sure that the next generation realise that this is no longer acceptable or tolerated, as did the people who reported it today. I have no idea what other Rovers fans may, or may not think about your fans - some people are very entrenched regarding the views they hold, others are able to be realistic and acknowledge that, as in most walks of life, football clubs will have good and bad amongst their fans. Personally, I won't be casting any stones.
  20. An elderly man, who grew up in a different generation - doesn't make it right today though. He was spoken to by other supporters, before being reported. Every club has a minority of morons - "One city fan should be ashamed of himself for shouting obscenities in the face of a disabled child and his carer when being asked to move by the carer as the child could not see."
  21. Might all be over by then, according to some. I personally think that father and elder brother have pulled the purse strings a lot tighter than Wael was anticipating, but who knows!
  22. Those companies were taken over from the previous Directors at BRFC. Whilst it's not so easy to obtain details of companies registered outside the UK, I presume that any loans etc due to Dwane Sports will show in the next set of BRFC accounts?
  23. Sponsoring the East Stand - Poplar Insulation East Stand - although, sadly the pies these days leave a lot to be desired.
