You can’t really comment on it if you haven’t listened to it

No, I haven’t listened to it. Hence why I asked two questions.

Ive listened to all his City stuff so far, and some of the Oxford stuff. I’ve heard enough to form an opinion.

  2. Classic Ian this ep.

Ian ‘ we can’t judge the guy on one game…gotta give him time..OTIB overreact’

Ian ‘If I don’t see a better performance against a Boro (twice the team of QPR) I’ll start asking questions’

Another myth that seems to be accepted as fact on the pod is that Naismith can’t play at the back as he’s beaten in the air too easily. I’m sure Naismith was top of duels won in the league at some point (maybe @Davefevs could confirm)

Let’s not forget that Naismith started his career as an attacking midfielder.

I’m wondering if, based on the way Manning occasionally set up at Oxford, that he might be able to utilise all 4 of our CM’s, to try to get dominance on the ball.

He’s occasionally set up with a bit of a box midfield; with 2 deep CM’s and 2 higher CM’s.

Perhaps we could try something like :

    Tanner-Vyner-Dickie-Pring
               James - TGH
           Knight     -   Naismith
             Conway - Wells

In this set up, there are 2 deep lying CM’s which allows the 2 full backs to push on.
The 2 advanced CM’s have a free rein to roam and try to create.
Gives us 2 up top too.

I think this at least gives us our best ‘ball-players’ in the central midfield areas. Something I think is crucial to what Manning would want. Ball dominance.

I do like that set up. I want to see a front two but would be hesitant in changing to back a 3/5, as we look pretty solid.

Id be tempted to play Sykes in place of Tanner, especially at home. Tanner just doesn’t offer anything going forward. I think he’ll end up as a CB, ideally in a 3.

Nope, none from an osib perspective. Tbh we are now just actively ignored, or told computer says no with the few odd requests for access for things we’ve had over the past few years. And the powers that be hilariously now say communication & openness to fans should be better! Ah well.

Wasn’t Jon Lansdown one of your first ‘cider with…’ guest? That seems a long time ago for the club.

Yep but wasn’t he basically signed once we knew that McCrorie was going to be out long term?

Optimistic based on his injuries but I guess they are including Benarous.

They’ll argue Knight & TGH were the replacements.

Yeah didn’t notice TGH wasn’t there. You’re right, he only signed when McCrorie was confirmed as a long term injury.

Tins has mentioned this a few times in interviews but is it actually true? I reckon not, hence why many people believe that we’re a couple of players short, particularly in midfield.

    O’leary, Wiles-Richards, Bajic

    McCrorie, Tanner

    Vyner, Dickie

    Atkinson, Naismith

    Pring, Roberts

    James, King

    Knight, ?

    Williams, ?

    Sykes, Weimann

    Conway, Wells, Cornick

    Bell, Mehmeti

Technically this is 22 players but not completely balanced, no? Especially as 2 of these are untested, young GKs.

It’s almost like the club let two midfielders leave the club and not replace them.

Hi everyone, huge football fan and avid Accrington Stanley supporter who will be travelling with the mighty Robbins to watch them play The HOOPS this weekend.

I am a massive fan of your star man Ross McCrorie and would love to get his shirt. What sign size would be acceptable to bring into the away end with me? I have in mind to put on the sign, 'Rob McCrorie, can I have your shirt please'. Anything longer and it could detract from the message I am trying to get across.

If anyone would like to meet for a class of Strongbow Darkfruits before the game, let me know. I know you guys like cidre.

    Thanks a lot :)

    Is that you SarahB?

No, why would it be? All I can see from the outside is that we signed a few players in May/June and got TGH on loan after Scott left, and that the fans think we needed to spend some of the Scott money. What am I missing?

Is it? I'm not saying your wrong, but did Nige say he wanted more players?

I suspect Tins is gaslighting and Nige DID say he didnt want another player - but because he knew he wouldnt get the players he wanted - because lack of finances.

Fair enough if you have missed all of the written and record interviews of Nige speaking about it.

Tinnion said we had a plan with Scott and a plan for when we sold him.

The club and Nige said after Scott was sold, we were at our budget and couldn’t bring anyone in.

Fast forward to now - Jon Lansdown says there may be new players during Jan but it’ll be difficult. Tinnion said Nige turned down the chance to sign players after Scott was sold. (Why would they offer him players if there was no budget)

All these things can’t be true. It makes no sense for Nige to come out complaining he couldn’t spend, if he was offered the chance it.

I know who I believe, who has the reason to lie and who had no reason to lie.
