If that’s what you’ve seen that’s what you’ve seen. I think he did well on loan and was one of a number of players who were great during that extended winning streak.

He obviously got injured very soon after joining us permanently and hasn’t been the same since but I remember games where we played poorly during LJ’s last season where Dasilva was one of our few bright points. Home to Barnsley in 2020 is one that sticks in the mind.

I don’t agree he was average during his loan spell but am not going to try and prove your opinion wrong.

On his loan I'm fairly sure he was kept out of the team on a regular basis by someone breaking into the team for the first time when he already had 48 professional games under his belt.

From about halfway through, probably when Mark joined, the sound started echoing.

Yeah I assume @headhunter is muting either himself or others, when it's just him and Ian then he can hear Ian in the same room rather than through the normal audio but as soon as someone else joins he has to leave something open to hear them as they are not in the same room.

none of that explains the difference in volume that is probably a different problem of how the mic recording volume is setup.

All assumptions and I'm no sound engineer but I would like it sorted out as I like the podcast and usually listen live and then again to the recorded version.

As I listen to it in bed the volume control usually causes and argument with the misses.

Inevitable after that performance yesterday- they were absolutely dreadful.

Anyone else think Ronaldo while a truly legendary goal scorer, was a purely indulgent signing and has made them worse?

    Ronaldo for manager then?

Let's just see how 'the understanding of context ' continues  shall we?

I think he has another year of understanding as long as we see effort from players (keep playing like we did against Cov and he's got months, play like we did today and he will get time), after that he would have had plenty of time to shift players on, get some in and implement his ideas.

I can see the second half of next season being a little rough for him.

  5. I would like us to use it to fool opposition, make it look like a long throw to create space out wide and then go short, pull players out wide and then go long - doing the unexpected is the only way I can see that it has worked for us. And that's been once.

They reacted and we lost composure at the back. Those two things changed the game. Williams nor Bakinson could show for the ball like they did first 45 because it kept being smashed over their heads.

Yeah in possession that's certainly the case, out of possession as soon as Williams got the yellow he couldn't be as dynamic.

It's a bit of a shame that we have one player that makes others in the team look championship quality but without him they look amateur.

Why do we have to show tickets when walking in to ground car park from the park end?

I don’t see the point of it

I think that because that's where the away fans are directed to they are trying to make sure your not lost away fans.

Not sure there are players wanting "special treatment" or making demands.

We have all been in jobs where the new manager comes in with the "I'm going to shake this lot up" attitude and it never goes well.

I was in one job where a knob came in with that attitude, lost us all in the first day and was gone within a couple of months.

As a nation we do seem obsessed with a shouty, bullying management style, linked to our "forelock tugging" culture I guess.

    It is odd.

Have you watched the interview. Grant me some artistic license - Players want pandering to. If that's not some players wanting special treatment then I don't know what is.

I don't think he is the shouty bullying type - what it sounds like is that he is very clear and if they can't do it he will put the effort into helping them. If they have a bad attitude then buy buy with zero malice - it's just the way it is. It's the way it has to be if we're going to do anything.

To be fair that is easy to say and difficult to do.

Also implies there are problems behind the scenes with obviously unhappy players.

It isn't that hard, you put people to work and get them to do the things everyone else is doing and no special treatment, if they don't want to do the work everyone else is doing or want special treatment then they will move on, if the punishments (training with the U23s ect) apply to everyone then they haven't got a leg to stand on.

Yeah there are obviously problems behind the scenes, we don't end up in this position playing the way we are if there aren't problems, Nige obviously see's the problems the test is can he fix them - he's experienced enough that my money would be on him even with all the player power.

TBH if players think they are bigger than the club or want special treatment I want a manger that gives them a reality check rather than pandering to there demands. I recall Wilbs podcast appearance where the moment he pinpointed the promotion squad cohesion and squad dynamics broke down was because LJ allowed Tomlin special treatment.

Agree Pezo, I don't think the Lansdowns are choosing Flyers/Bears over City.

They are simply waiting for the proposals at Ashton Vale and the sporting quarter to gain planning permission.

Once that is achieved, they have their exit strategy.

I think they will have it built - that will probably coincide nicely with the end of our FFP mess, having a small squad and thus good looking books making us quite attractive as long as we don't get relegated, I accept probably small fry in the grand scheme of things.

Indeed. The redevelopment of Ashton Gate has long long been coming. As you said Scott Davidson was looking at doing it. Anyone remember the plans for the stadium at Hengrove Park?

Again as you have said the training ground is something that should have been done a very long time ago. An absolute embarrassment that we were sharing QEH school grounds for how many years? The new facilities we have got are decent but thats all they are decent, they are the bog standard minimum requirement for most proper clubs at this level. I mean you can even go as far as saying they aren’t actually overly that great, no indoor pitches on site is not ideal is it? I would say the Bears facility is actually more head turning and impressive than ours actually.

KITR is bang on with his opening post, a good summary and for what it’s worth i think he has taken us as far as he wants too now. The championship ‘’will do’’ for the Lansdown family IMO. Time to push the Flyers and the Rugby club on and the let the football club just tick along as lets be honest even keeping us in the Championship is costing a fortune (in the eyes of the Lansdown family)..

I'm not sure about your last point if it's trying to say he is choosing, I don't think he is choosing one over the other he can easily afford to fund everything - it's what he has time to dedicate himself to I guess, maybe? He knows we're not going to challenge because of our FFP constraints, he has taken us as far as FFP will allow him to for the next couple of years, maybe? So the wording could be that the championship is where he is stuck due to FFP and parachute payments I think.

On your first point - there is a good 20+ years between Scott Davidson and the SL funded redevelopment of Ashton gate. It wasn't like Davison left SL came in and the ground was redeveloped, I cut him some slack that the AV debacle cost him about 3 years but 3 in 20+ years!

Like you say with the training facilities it's finally happened. The comparison to Palace u23s shows how far we are behind, we should have had these facilities ages ago and I'm fairly sure SL would agree.

Why did both of these things take so long? What are we going to do next that's 20 years behind the cutting edge? Sorry we're ahead of our time because we bought a TV that goes on a trailer, we have drones and a player app, the problem with those things is that they don't take more than a couple weeks to sort out (there's virtually zero barriers to entry for others to copy).

There's a saying in business that you have to be first, biggest or cheat - SL won't cheat, we do ok (not spectacular) when we're one of the biggest in the third tier, our only way to compete at this level is be first and as you say under SL we have a timeline of it happens eventually.

A major worry would be if SL sold up who would buy the club? We could end up with a dodgy ownership and suffer the consequences of that.

SL is a Bristolian and to me that’s vitally important and in my view he’s achieved a great deal so far. Started Bristol Sport, Revamped AG, brand spanking new training facilities. The only thing missing is a squad capable of reaching the riches of the PL. Sure, he’s made mistakes not only with managers but with senior members of staff at AG but I’m more than happy to forgive for those errors - I really wish more City fans shared my view.

SL has top drawer business acumen - hence his billionaire status and fair play to him but City is not his only interest. Fairly recently he bought up a hotel complex and golf club in Guernsey and who knows what other interests he has.

I’d be seriously concerned if he ever sold up.

While I agree if you take those achievements you could easily pick them apart.

Started Bristol sport - how has a sports management and service business helped the football club.

Revamped Ashton gate - that had been talked about since Scott Davison was here, it needed doing and who let it get in the state it was in after 20 plus years of ownership?

Brand spanking new training facilities that are similar to Crystal palace u23s and as you know should have been done under Danny Wilson and be 20 years old by now.

I get the impression some players have been told that aren't good enough, or haven't been able to get up to speed so to speak and realise the enivitable. Have downed tools and are now just going through the motions.

He's now left with a smaller pond to dip into. And some are injured.

It's now very black and white imo.

We have players NP doesn't want/ trust even after giving them a chance.

Has been left with smaller options to pick from...some injured, and others wanting it, like some of the youngsters, but they haven't got the experience or talent to put in consistent championship games week in, week out.

January will be tough imo. I think that will be the tipping point to our season.

If we don't sell, don't recruit as wanted, continue to have injuries to key players in NP plans, then we are screwed.

If you've got the likes of Palmer on the suggested wages he's on, not making an impact, then that's a massive blow.

It sounded different at the end of the interview with the word endulge used.

Sounds like a combination of some players think they are bigger than the club (Wells maybe) and some players want special treatment (Palmer maybe).

  15. It might be easier to say who it's not:

Bentley, Kalas, Baker, Atkinson, James, Scott, Tanner, Weiman, Massengo, Pring, Simpson, King.

We should be pretty sure they all want to be here based on when they signed and what we see them do.
