The basic truths being: the team is in turmoil, the manager is ill and we don't know when he's coming back and we have no plan other than to expose a recently appointed assistant by putting him in sole charge of the situation.

    Yep.

If that was the reason, I thought RG was surprisingly lacklustre.  It felt like a PR own goal to me and did nothing to allay fans’ concerns.

If we didn’t know otherwise, it felt far more like RG had been dragged in reluctantly and was doing hs best polititian impression of giving very little away with his answers, rather than having requested the interview to clear up uncertainty.

That interview left me with the conclusion that we’re in far deeper shit than I’d realised  before and judging by comments on here, I’m certainly not alone in that.

If the club were trying to reassure fans with this interview, I fear they’ve failed dismally. RG seemed extremely uncomfortable and I saw no reason to think the club have this situation in hand.

    Extremely worrying times!

Then it has served it's purpose because we are ******.

I don't think he was trying to reassure fans - he was trying to say nothing while at the same time fill the void of rumour and misinformation that is currently going around and lay out some bare truths.

Just listened to the Richard Gould interview.

    Wasn't really inciteful was it?

Told us what we already know and obvious replies every single time.

And regarding Nigel Pearson illness, I'd have sooner Gould told us the club didn't wish to go into detail as to the nature of the illness but instead banged on about the effects of Covid which doesn't really tell us what the real problem is. It just leaves us assuming or guessing. And the problem is how long is this going to keep Nigel away. The knock on effect can be disastrous for us as a club

Waste of an interview to be honest.

    Watch his YouTube interview.

If you want to waste time, it's exactly the same.

I feel nigel and his family and his agent could put a statement out to let people know how he is and if he is returning anytime soon.(i know its a private matter) Best wishes to nigel and his family.Stay safe

He doesn't strike me as the type to put any effort or especially respond to rumours.

Maybe he had resigned and they had someone lined up and that fell through ?

Yep all guess work as you say but they would have talked for sure, ill or not and that interview was set up for another reason, that is obvious.

Hmmm we will have to agree to disagree, I think that interview was organised because fans are looking for answers and were asking the SL, JL and RG to answer questions through social media, RG realised he had to fill the chasm of non information flying around so rather than directly respond on social media and set that expectation he went on GT.

Oh, I meant before he went sick. Perhaps they didn’t have a chance, poor chap.

Oh I see, the interview has been organised after NP went off sick.

I think this was organised because of the social media backlash, there have been people on here and twitter asking what our direction is and RG needs to be able to say they aren't hiding.

They would have been talking for sure. Currently going through the paperwork and can't announce his departure just yet perhaps ?, maybe there was a late issue as this whole interview had the whiff of that it was actually set up by the club for another reason as nothing of substance was revealed. Maybe he resigned but they are trying to talk him into staying after a break. Who knows but one thing is for sure we are now in the "worst of all worlds". No manager for weeks/months, a disorganised, demotivated shambles on the pitch, no money to change squad in January and I thought it couldn't get any worse.

The first half of your post is all assumptions and conjecture, why would he resign and then RG think oh I know I will go on GT?

My own conjecture - I think you are probably projecting your hopes onto the interview.

    The second half - yeah we're ******!

Wouldn’t there have some conversation with Nige before he went? If there was, Nige wasn’t adamant that he was coming back…I thought RG would’ve have said “yes, of course, all being well”

I don't know about you but I get pissed off if my directors contacts me when I'm off sick. So no I don't think he would have had a conversation prior to going on, Nige needs to worry about getting better not about a Twentypiece interview.

  9. Just listened to the first 5 mins states he wants NP back. GT - "And he wants to come back", RG - "I'm sure that's the case".

Not sure where the ambiguity is in that other than he can't speak for Nige, he doesn't know Nige's thought's he just knows what he thinks Nige's thought's are.

the bit that struck me is he said long COVID so I assume that's what it is - he also said "who knows with long COVID"

He is obviously not going to paint himself into a corner and look stupid by saying Nige will be back next week when he doesn't know if it's tomorrow, next week, 3 months or if NP is going to come to the conclusion that his health means he can't do the job.

Sometimes the information is just plain bollocks and was never true in the first place............

Usually to do with transfers, rarely outside of transfers. I have no doubt in my mind for instance that the person that posted this had been told by someone they trust as ITK had told them that at something was happening with the press today - if that was a misconstrued message about Gould being on Radio Bristol, leak finding, change of plan or something else who knows.

I certainly wouldn't want people to be put off of posting information they had been given for fear of being labelled a bullshitter - that can be figured out by the readers.

So…..where’s all the in the knowers ?

There aren't any ITKers like an individual that knows everything, sometimes some people have some information sometimes things change.

Yep penalty, probably red. No intent so maybe ref could have used a bit of common sense that it was just clumsy and given a yellow. I know intent is not in the rule book but refs generally seem to look at whether there was any or not it seems in this country anyway.

O'Dowda was a bit of a problem for them first half. Not so much second.

I have had my issues with him in the past but I thought he did as good as he could have first half.

Only way to get most of them out of the comfort zone . All on good contracts can't be released no one would buy many of them as money is tight . If dropped no they will be back in if injuries as squad is small . Or happy to do little but take the money . So perhaps fans giving them stick is the only way to get through. Though I doubt most of the give a f..k.

Well there is some point to that, the crowd were turning against Barnsley and they managed to turn it on for 5 mins to ensure they weren't going to get abuse at half time.

Now this really does open up possibilitys. Are NP and Smith not on good terms,

So is there a possibility of some sort of NP, Smith, and Shakespeare. In some sort of running the football side combination ?

Not cheap and SL be digging deep. But it got some real football sense about it. Has it not

Not sure if managers/coaches are inside or outside FFP. If they are outside then it's somewhere SL could spend money without causing problems.

Still leaves us with a load of players that aren't fit to wear the shirt but the management/recruitment/coaching side would be very good.

Just read Bristol  Post ratings for yesterday and it says pretty much everyone played well. Even handed out an 8 to Pring. I only listened to the match on the radio but are the marks generous? If not, how did we end up losing?

Obviously watching a different game. No one deserves an 8, no one deserves more than a 6.

I think there were some individual average performances out there.

  16. The problem with asking the chairman or owner questions is the changes they make aren't going to affect this season.

They need to have a vision that constrains a manager to ensure we don't flip flop in strategy and very importantly stand back, turn up for some pictures every so often and hold the manager to account.

The manager manages the day to day - and that's where the challenges are so if anyone needs to come out and say something I think it should be NP but he needs to come out and give us more than it is what it is.

No evidence Mr Barrister. We'll have to wait and see. However that one point doesn't detract from my overriding point that watching football at AG right now is as boring an experience as it gets and has been for a number of seasons now. Do I need to put that assertion past the Crown Prosecution Service because if you do I'll just link the last 60 odd games played at the stadium for you to enjoy?

Verdict is in, guilty as charged.
