  1. I usually make it to about half the home games and I'm not sure I've seen 14 wins in the last 5 seasons. Mind you, I can't half pick em !
  2. Agreed. Maybe that's what he did, and why he's now looking for alternative employment
  3. The fact that it's a contact sport seems to be forgotten. I couldn't be sure when I saw it live and still not sure having watched the video. Not sure means no penalty.
  4. This is the best England squad I can recall in over 40 years, especially in attack. Southgate is a very nearly man. He's done well but he just can't quite unlock the potential that we have. I've often wondered what Pep's next move would be. In need of a new challenge? What else can he achieve in the domestic game?
  5. Yes, seems to be the way of things. I've been coaching the same team for 3 seasons and have never seen some of the parents at all. Others just sit in their car looking at their phone while the games are on. First game in the morning though. Nothing better than seeing the kids develop and put the stuff from training into practice.
  6. Well thank goodness. We won't be even worse than not good enough. I think I'll keep the champagne on ice for now.
  7. Exactly, why wait? Follow through on what's been started. A new manager will come in with new ideas and will want to move in a different direction. We'll lose momentum and have to wait another season and another season and so it goes on. More importantly you can't expect your home support to sit through another wasted season where goals are as rare as rocking horse shit. What are we doing?
  8. I can hear myself saying "I don't believe it" as I read it on the official site.
  9. An attacking midfielder would hopefully enhance what we currently have up front (and might make us worth watching), so that would be my priority. I'd be disappointed if we can't address this before the window shuts as I think it was something we were crying out for even when we had Scott. I certainly don't buy into the "why buy another striker, we can't play them all". Drop/move on one from your list as some just aren't up to it, even if they run around a lot. I'd love to see some quality up front, at the moment I'd settle for some effectiveness.
  10. High Performance Centre indeed. I hope that was a full strength Sheffield United against our under 12s or something similar !
  11. If the passing in training is anything like it was on Saturday, I'd say parking around there could be an expensive experience.
  12. Agreed. The singing corner might have been okay for Trevor and Simon, but it's no good for us. It needs to be behind the goal like it always used to be.
  13. I'm sure that will change, but I don't much fancy ending the season on 46 points!
  14. I understand what your saying about small number bias. My job has an element of that to it. Looking at it from another perspective, we're probably not going to win the league. If we can't have that, what would we rather watch? Personally I'd take more shots on target and go away feeling more entertained.
  15. I'm not bothered about the away following. What our team needs to do is play well and shut them up ! I think many of us are subconsciously turning up and expecting to be bored. Carry on boring your home support senseless and not surprisingly, they'll be quiet.
  16. I don't think the OP is "convinced" we'll be relegated, but I can't argue with the assessment that shots on target need to improve. An SoT/goal ratio of 0.67 seems good, but if we can only manage 1 shot target that's less than a goal a game (the defence will need to be amazing). Manage 3 shots on target and we're on for 2 goals a game (this would feel like dreamland). Something that's concerned me for some time is that so much of our attacking play is via crosses. Scoring from crosses is not easy and I believe the stats back that up.
  17. Let's hope the absent owners get to see this. Having to watch shit like that on a regular basis might focus their minds a bit.
  18. I'm not expecting top six or anything like that necessarily. I just want a team that's worth watching.
  19. Midfield and forward line for me. If we can't do both then improve the midfield with more creativity and the forward line will also benefit. Birmingham appeared to have several players that could go past people in central midfield and just left me thinking who can do that for us? No real purpose to our play, slow, predictable hit and hope. No incisive quality on show. As for Pearson talking about big moments for us, I can recall a pass to Bell that was offside in the first half and the Wells miss. That was it.
  20. Creativity would be good, but lets keep it simple to start with. The ball needs to stay within the white lines. How many times did we just kick the ball out of play? It was pitiful, you can't blame FFP, selling players or injuries for that. It was dreadful to watch. All huff and puff and completely predictable, no quality whatsoever. I believe Lansdown is ultimately responsible, but Pearson won't get cut much slack this season if home performances continue in the current vein.
  21. Agreed. The biggest surprise today was that Preston took so long to score. Pulled all over the place for long spells, lucky to get a point I thought.
  22. If that was away from home I'd be happy, but it wasn't, so I'm not. Creativity zilch, but a long way to go.
