    Yep, totally.

It’s the average position they make a pass from.

For me they had a little spell first half where they pushed us back.

The big thing that surprised me last night was they KWP didn’t really get forward that much.  I thought they’d try to create lots of 2v1 versus Roberts.

After 10mins, Brooks dropped deep then into KWP’s RB berth, whilst KWP moved wide right.  However it was more rotation of positions than creating overloads.  And they didn’t really do it until that spell they had later in the first half.

You can see in the average position map, he played more like a RB than I expected.

I think the fact that we had more possessions reaching the penalty area (22v17) shows that we were more clinical and attack-minded in the final part of the pitch.

All-in-all, we were the better side.

Now, I'm quite a smart chap, but I have absolutely no idea what Dave's on about here.

Just on Williams he joined for iirc somewhere between £1.5-2m on a 4 year deal.

Amortisation saving will thus kick in if he is renewed/extended. Given Football Wages + Amortisation + Agents Fees is the formula..you can mix and match a bit across the Pots.

    Paging @Davefevs 😄

I think he was referring to the poor quality kit which this season was made from recycled fake Fanta bottles.  In the rain it gets very heavy and was weighing the players down.

And is very hard to remove when you've got six fingers on each hand

Not sure how some of these chaps would have gone in the eighties if 'this is the worst I've ever seen'...

Relative to what we normally see at games, that's pretty bad. You almost sound nostalgic for the days of riots on the terraces...

I wasn’t on here then, but I do recall a text from a mutual mate of @Harry on the eve of that Forest game saying it was a joke that he was playing in the champ!

And then the bbc used this photo on their website the next day with me resembling a crab!!

The following afternoon headed into Cabot and whilst stood outside Smiggle (wife and daughter inside shopping) I found myself stood next to Alby, his wife and daughter inside the shop too!!!

Had a lovely natter with him.

As a player he reminded me of Joe Jordan, which is a big compliment!

    That's what you look like!

There is absolutely no comparison to where reid was and where bell is reid had quality genuine quality even when he was played in midfield lightyears ahead of where bell is when he was bells age!

The same Reid who as a midfielder we would happily have flogged for £300k at the start of his breakthrough season as a number 10/winger?

While pre 1992 some major issues existed as you say, otoh there was a Happy medium.

Back then, at least clubs weren't listed on foreign Stock Exchanges, owned by oligarchs, Nation States etc.

Matchday experience now is sterile, pre game..talking in the ground.

Happy medium between the 2 maybe 1990s, early 2000s. Beyond that..

The modern technical football when played with pace, precision and quality can be outstanding. Can be..but a half-done job can be truly soporific- see large chunks of yesterday and Norwich at home for 2.

Where did I say modern football was perfect? All this nonsense about 'real football'. The game evolves over time, today's best teams play a particular style that works, like back when teams played hoofball - that worked, for a while.

As you rightly say, it's about playing to the resources available - players, facilities, etc.

As for the ownership, well that's another matter.

Matchdays? I was able to take my kids to a game, there was no trouble, almost no police, it was perfectly pleasant and dry on a wet day. That's a huge advance over when I started going (late '70s). I'll take that sterile matchday every time.

Probably because you're too young to remember proper football...

Jumpers for goalposts...pitches like ploughed fields, one sub only, slow, lumpen football (see pitches issue), appalling tackles and dire facilities.

    Ah, the good old days.

    Utter bollocks.

Quite enjoyed how strong we were down the left hand side today. Mehmeti and Pring often overlapping each other created quite a bit of confusion for their right back. Mehmeti/Pring seem to have a good understanding

Yeah, it was noticeable how Watford changed thongs at half time, leading to their goal.

Cracking result and performance, at times the lads tore Watford apart. Some lovely stuff.

  10. It's an interesting debate. Footballers and officials get a dog's abuse sometimes, yet if they give some back, everyone goes nuts. Watkins was clearly directing it at one particular fan; fair play to him.

All clubs - us included - have dished out plenty in the recent and long-gone past to players, etc. Can't say I'd want to be on the end of it...maybe this is the first step in addressing this? Perhaps in the same way that racist abuse was pretty common back in the early '80s, when I started going to games regularly. Now, it's just nothing like it was (in the UK, at least).

Watkins' BBC interview afterwards was excellent, seems a smart young man, and was clearly upset by the grief he got, and pleased to give some back.

It's interesting how we all become different people on a terrace; I used to give Gabbiadini some terrible stick when he played against us; but many years ago, he moved in opposite some friends', and I really felt I ought to pop over and apologise.

End of the day, they're just people, understandably they get upset. Interesting to see where this goes.

Aside from seemingly having a good working relationship with Pearson and helping to steady the ship financially - how can we know for certain how good he was at his role?

We only see the tip of the iceberg

Apart from the roads, the sanitation, the streets being safe, education...what have the Romans ever done for us?
