  1. I’m guessing this isn’t you. Mean, but made me smile.
  2. Theres this, everyone in the top tier seems to have gone for a drink.
  3. Even less likely when you see the full photo , and the full 3 tiers .
  4. Projected accounts , can anyone tell me how it works . Say Villa's projected accounts include player sales, maybe £35m , and they then predict they will be within FFP. What if they get promoted, they could then do the exact opposite. What I'm trying to say, is what is stopping a club from putting in optimistic ( call them that to be kind) projected accounts, then after promotion they turn out to be way off ?
  5. I thought Eastville was their "spiritual home" , but then they did sell that at the first sign of £££££ too. The Rugby ground would have gone that way as well, if they would have got the new ground in South Gloucestershire free. There is a theme here.
  6. Yes, I did count Ashton Gate. 5 games , so would have been over a month or two , definitely qualifies. I put at least as I couldn't remember if they sneaked into another on, I know there was talk of a few over the years.
  7. Well we have done more since 1982 than they have done in their history. It just gets me to bite when they spout 1982 , which although I don't think it reflects well on the club, it was all legal and if you look at the history sites ours is still all there, unlike MK Dons who can be seen as a completely new club. Now the franchise thing also gets me a little, more to do with stupidity of fans ,who's team has up'd sticks and moved to whichever ground is willing to take them, calling us a franchise ! In my time they have moved and played at , at least 4 grounds. 1 they sold, 1 they "stole" and 2 they squatted in.
  8. There are none so blind as those that will not see ... My point again Bristol City/R*vers. BRISTOL ! It might be a small point, but as the original response was to a 1982 jibe it was called for.
  9. Really? My previous post, as others clearly got , was there has been a Bristol City longer than there has been a Bristol Rovers, and that we have been a League club longer (even if you add your 2 spells together ) I think I'm supposed to type fact in bold after that , but I won't. My mate who resorted to the 1982 thing (TBF he doesn't do that normally) , was just falling into the old boring insults that some of your dullards dish out, and to be fair to your I don't think you have either . My replies were facts, he can usually get me to bite , I will probably bite if he tries the 'franchise ' thing too , but I like to think he's a little bit more intelligent than that.
  10. There has been a Bristol City in Bristol since 1897 , and a R*vers since 1899. Bristol City have been a League club since 1901 , they joined in 1920. These are some of the facts I threw at a mate recently when he played the 1982 card, funny enough it ended there.
  11. Can't be right, his watch is worth £15,000 don't you know
  12. Bournemouth are a funny one. When they went up , they spent a lot of money on wages and had a fine of £7.6m for breaking FFP when they got promoted, nearly £40m lost winning the Championship. On here , I remember a few questions but not the condemnation that Wolves got for doing it a similar way, all be it on another level. I do wonder what will happen with them. When they got promoted the Russian part owner (I think it was him) , said they wouldn't redevelop the ground straight away. I think implying they would wait to see if they could maintain Premiership stats. Years on and as far as I know little has changed, although I believe he is now sole owner. Without the high money in the Prem they would be royal screwed , capacity of under 12,000 with no expansion in the near future? Better not get relegated any time soon.
  13. Owner bought into Bournemouth in 2011, his worth is in the 100s of millions BTW , they spent a lot of money to get up and are not reliant on crowds. That would probably change with relegation, but they apparently stay with in the FFP rules. My point being, although another club with small crowds, they are another club with a rich owner, and now about £100m from the Prem each year.
  14. Point 1 : So you've won more games since the new manager came in , that is the Wiki description of a honeymoon period Point 2 : Championship standard, but dropped to Div 2 ? Sounds right Point 3 : Very likely , have to take your word , but I wonder were you one of those celebrating at Wycombe ? Point 4 : So you were a quality side, but just short a big lump up front , and that's why you were struggling OK , sounds a good signing. Point 5: Mcgeady is 32 and has played about 2/3s Sunderlands games , was good but not Prem standard now. Honeyman seems to divide opinion , and hardly played in the Prem so not sure he's there yet. Point 6/7 : Leeds weren't that good because we aren't as open as WBA were last week. Not sure about players not caring, they weren't great , but that's a different thing all together. Yes , LJ has a rep for streaks , but the team seems to have evolved a little , and this poor run was likely as we are playing the better sides in this run of fixtures. Point 8 : Fanbase , funny things. I agree with you saying you don't need big numbers , but Brentford (keeping up your chosen comparison ) have a multi millionaire owner , who is willing and able to put substantial funds into the club. You get 8,000 ? You have an owner who is unwilling or unable to put money in , there is a massive difference between the two clubs. I don't think you would see a team get into the Championship with both a non spending owner and small ground and get anywhere near Brentford's success . I imagine every teams fans believe they deserve better. Fair play, you're confident you'll stay up (again Wycombe) and you might , but unless the owners find some money growth will be hard, L1 is not a great division and mid table should be easy to achieve if you stay up. Then again the owners could have another fire sale and you start again.
  15. Where to start ?? "If you take the league table since Coughlan took over we're in a playoff spot." You do get that it's over more than half a dozen games , right? "Holmes Denis" (who?) .... 7 games and you're thinking he's another £10m player ?? Good luck. "we could easily be top half of league 1" ...... You have to stay in L1 first , not a certainty " just think your fans are laughably optimistic about the lack of quality at Rovers.... you are just above the relegation zone in an average L1, that screams lack of quality ffs. "a team which is too big for the Championship" Guessing you mean Sunderland, the team was shit for years , support means nothing to where you finish. Currently they are an OK L1 side, no more. "Plus City are on awful form". Yep , we've lost to the best two teams in the division , one pushing for the play off's and the side that just drew at Chelsea. Not a great run agreed. "I'd be shocked if you got a playoff place" I , like many are doubtful we will make it, but we have a chance and I'll be fairly happy if that's true on the last day of the season. "Brentford only get 9k on average." They might do, but have a new ground being built , 20 thousand all seater. The owner has apparently invested around £100m , good comparison. Fair play coming on here defending your side, wonder if we'll see you next week if we win and you lose ?
  16. Can't help but think of the old joke (?) , if typhoon put the tea in Britain , who put the **** in Scunthorpe . One for the kids there.
  17. Interesting idea, and funnily enough some successful managers did/do take it seriously. Pep and Jose enjoyed winning it. Maybe allow Prem teams to apply to enter , but not make it compulsory , then you know if they're in it they want to be in it.
  18. To be honest, I did enjoy the early years. Bolton was fantastic, that first trip to the old (proper) Wembley . Then the following defeat's against Mansfield and Stoke were ok, by the time Carlisle came around it had started to lose its interest. Walsall was just a day on the piss in Hoxton with mates I'd been going to football with for years, the win felt like a foregone conclusion and I honestly hope we never qualify to play in it again. That said, I think it could be a brilliant tournament again, for smaller teams (and I say that meaning no disrespect to anyone) to have the chance to play at our national stadium is something that should embraced by the EFL, and make it a cup worth winning again For me It might be a case of familiarity breeds contempt , and the current farce of shoehorning Prem kids is a joke , it needs a revamp if it is going to continue.
  19. Am I right in thinking that they are free from penalties as they are in the Prem ? The EFL and the Prep being separate bodies , if the EFL try and put fines or whatever in place, there is no guarantee that the Prem would enforce them.
  20. 150 and the new world record for sixes, 12 for Butler.... mental !
  21. This is some hitting from Morgan and Butler. Heard the score at about 26 over and they were 160+ for 3, now 338 for 3 in the 44th.
