  1. I'm just glad we're are getting enough luck in the hat draw, that a goalkeeper gets picked every week
  2. Funny enough I was going to say that very thing, but I thought I'd sound too depressing. Fulham ended up the game I feared, I was done after the Reading game but with the backing from on high I'm resigned to our fate. The team , regardless of formation , will find a way to implode. I'm not sure we have time to change that situation.
  3. OTIB never fails to surprise, not just a pisstake but educational Good work Sir.
  4. Mods can we have a system for multiple likes pleas
  5. I remember seeing the goals on HTV (I think) , I've since tried to find it with no luck. Didn't go that day as I was fed up with the derby games, asked in a sports shop in town what the score was....... gutted !
  6. You have got to be kidding. No difference in being 3 up or 3 down before getting a draw !!!! If they were in a relegation fight and just broke their all time loosing run record they would.
  7. The whisper I heard is, they won't go ahead with the deal in place. Te one that Higgs negotiated . I understand they want a deal that gives them ownership and revenue. I don't know how that staccks up with the land that the UWE were given, aren't there some clause as to what they can do with it? They were apparently budgeting £1000 a seat, apparently all that gets you is the concrete the seat is on, the seat and the roof NOTHING else. During his visit I understand Wael was a little surprised at the quality, finish and infrastructure on the new Gate. A quick Google with give you an idea of the cost per seat of a new build stadium, estimates vary but range from £1500 - £6000 per seat, I stand to be corrected but as I said a quick Google. Up until recently , no one from the football club had contacted the UWE and all contact had been through businessmen and Lawyers. Worrying? A mate spoke to someone that works there and they, at least he was still unsure if it would go ahead or not. This was only a couple of months ago Dwayne sports own the new land , if that was us the rabble on gAss chat would be screaming about dodgy deals and not being owned by the club, that and off shore ownership. They conveniently gloss over that one. No one, and I mean no one , out side of the family and maybe close allies know what Wael's plans are. He may have the best intentions and really is being sensible and frugal , who knows. What I do know is if roles were reversed OTIB would have gone into melt down long ago and questions would have been asked.
  8. At home on the computer , on another clubs forum (nearly put rival but that isn't the case) during a home game? Locked out were you ?
  9. I don't believe the players aren't playing for Johnson, I do believe he's hasn't a clue as to what system suits, players to put out or how to get the best out of any of them. @MattRSp95 I think more than a few pointed out that our results papered over the cracks of our early season form. A few of those results were gained from goals downand just throwing the kitchen sink at teams. Very few good performances but some decent spells. The team has become so fragile that only a change will have a hope of turning things around, as the run and season has gone on, we have gone from having large chunks of possession and a number of shots to where we are today. 1 shot against what should have been the ideal opposition to get a win. No manager, injuries, best player out and dissent in the ranks and we come a poor 2nd. For those (are there any left) who think he can turn it around, really I would love to know, how long and what in the last 8 (straight defeats) has shown that he can turn it around. Totally agree , all the blame must lie with Johnson. I still think we have a good squad with some very good players, but we need a change of coach he has proved himself inept so many times.
  10. I was just about done after the pathetic Reading debacle, prepared to give time after some good additions. Add Cardiff capitulation and we really have to wonder how we are in this position with such a talented manager !!! Really would like to know when exactly will the Johnson supporters will hold their hands up and say he should go? The club need to act now. PS: who broke the internet? typed this out once and OTIB exploded and disappeared !
  11. If I heard that right........... We have the tallest team in living memory and the corner ??? "Low to the near post" FFS !
  12. Good summing up @spudski , I've said before how you can visibly see the confidence drain on conceding a goal , first against Reading and Preston the whole team looked 5 inches shorter. Funnily enough , I thought they came back well Vs Cardiff and we started panicking after 'that' back heel . We were starting to move out, back heel puts us back under pressure and they never seemed to have any control after. I think if Joe attacks the ball he at least stops the header, but players are too involved in stopping the attacker rather than winning the ball these days. The 3rd , even though the Ref did block one player (Pack?) Pilkington had 2-3 touches before he shot.
  13. It's hearsay in as much as I heard a mate say it. He had a conversation with someone from the UWE , what it means? Who knows. But for no one from the football side to have made any contact seems strange, and as I understand it some people are a little nervous. It is at best , a very poor way to run a club/business/acquisition . As has been said Wael and his family are very rich, it's like saying one of the younger members of the Tesco family has bought a club and expecting their entire gross worth to be made available to the club. Not saying he hasn't got the best interest of the club at heart (only he knows), I'm not saying he's poor (he clearly isn't , or I should say THEY clearly aren't ) , the question is what funds are they willing to pour into the club. Plus as investment has been looked at, isn't that just another form of debt? If banks or other sources put money in to build the stadium they will , not only want their initial money back but also a profit. You are undoubtedly in a better position since the takeover, on and off the pitch. I just think if roles were reversed we would be asking A LOT of questions. Some of the bile and pisstake from our side , without doubt comes from the fantastical claims by some of your more vociferous support. We moan about lack of info from our club (your lot are way worse by the seem of it ) , that would go a long way to allay fears from your side. If Wael or someone came out and even said, nothing has changed but talks are ongoing, it would stop people like me flagging up potential problems .
  14. Wigan had an owner that got them to overachieve spending ££30m on the stadium (largest outside of the Prem at the time) and probably still get parachute payments from the Prem, Preston's owner is worth £900m apparently. Brentfords owner has put upwards of £90m into the club Rotherhams owner has got them a new stadium and spent over £30m. I'll give you Burton, great story 6k capacity , and you? you have new sprinklers . Seriously , attendances and money guarantee nowt but they help. I heard that no one from the football side of the club has actually spoken to the UWE, just the bankers and business men and I think alarm bells are ringing. We are incredibly lucky having an owner who can do things off his own back , without the need for funding. Wael may have the best interest of the club at heart, but if he has to get outside funding he is to some extent, at the beck and call of others. I think the penny has dropped with the 6th richest club brigade and they are now reeling in their expectations. You've done well, and DC has proved a good manager, but. Lose Taylor for the reputed £500k offered and things may not be so rosey. Even if DC gets all of that, it will take some very good recruitment to make a push in the second half of the season.
  15. That flowery lot, Royal Horticultural Society. Don't know if they have much of a team though.
  16. Self deprecating , amusing , truthful and informative. Someone has obviously hacked the gAss account
  17. Is this true, if so they're both scum of the lowest order. I don't give a shiney shit about them ripping of the squatters , but pretending to be disabled is low even for a gAss.
  18. Few things that struck me from yesterday. Some of the food outlets were different, never seen a healthy option food wagon when we're home. Cowshed BBQ is a step up in quality as well, though there did seem to be one less Thatchers bus. Top tier view is brilliant, there are tables there , the plastic glasses are better quality and branded. Does this happen when we have the top open? I did wonder why the top tier was open with large empty spaces in the other stands, I guess it was just for Boxing day as it's not open every game. The fan park was rammed, as was the Coopers, but somehow the surrounding areas were less busy than on a football matchday. All in all an enjoyable day, £37 not cheap but I won't be going too often so OK. Very different atmosphere, but that could partly be down to me not caring quite so much. It does give me an option for when the Brother in Law comes down next, one of us should be home so we can get out for a few.
  19. First game of Rugby since Jnr school, first club game and first at the Gate. Really enjoyed it, beer in my seat, upper Lansdown brilliant view, tables in the concourse, I would change my ST seat in a heartbeat. Thought they played well, just to keep things sane I thought the Ref was poor even though I don't get the rules.... sorry , Laws. Good atmosphere and I thought the announcer got the ground going well. There is a very good chance I will go back, and if they carry on like that they will stay up.
  20. I feel sorry for LJ in as much as, the team he put out created 4 or 5 guilt edge chances. It is not his fault we managed to miss all of them, along with a couple of other lesser chances. It's not his fault we have a potential car crash of a defence whenever the ball is played back to the keeper. What I would question.... why change half the side to keep Joe Bryan on when SG was doing OK. Why when our midfield had been like doors opening on black Friday it was so easy to run through, take a holding CM off and put players on that wouldn't track back. Before that I thought we were getting a little control and making chances, the changes looked more like the ones he makes to chase a game at a goal down(admittedly it didn't take long to get there). I have no problem with the formation, or dropping LT to try a more mobile team. I don't understand the changes. We play out too slowly, this is even more obvious when you see the occasions we do play at pace, different team. While I like that we try and play out from the back, when a team presses us we dwell on the ball and those passes to the keeper are scarier than any Friday 13th film !! We have signed good players with potential, we have not signed proven Championship players. Looking at the team list last night we have a good looking squad, but they all seem of a similar level, a few stand out and pick themselves but only a few the debates prove that. In years gone by the team would be easy to pick and we would discuss whether to swap one or two . Now, Mathews (if fully fit) Flint, Mags, Tomlin , even Tammy looks like he needs a rest so question marks there .Other than that you could make arguments for every other position. It's no wonder LJ doesn't seem to know his best team, I really don't think we have one just yet. As individuals, the back four seem to play well but as a unit we concede too many chances. That has to be coaching, but it doesn't hell not having a secure screen from the midfield . We have wide players but play them on their opposite wings, when was the last time we had anyone bomb down the outside and hit a cross. It takes several touches, some thought, a look up, some more thought, THEN (if nothing else is on) we may get a cross. Strikers, well interesting. Tammy is a good player, but at 18 I'm not sure he should be playing week in week out. Or have the weight of the whole team on his shoulders. Engvall has not had enough game time to judge, he needs a run before we right him off. With Wilbs not able to play 3 games a week maybe some help could be brought in, but with AW here already would we be looking at another experienced striker? Doubtful. The same could be said of the midfield and Oneil. The thing that concerns me a little is, the only noises coming out of BCFC so far are for more players with potential. While that's admirable , what we need at the moment is cool heads and leadership. I hope Jan will supply some late presents as I think the squad is looking promising, maybe not currently , but next year maybe?
  21. And yet, played with 2 up top and 2 creative wide men. I think the problem is trying a accommodate certain players while not knowing the best players or system. If he had started with Wilbs/Tammy on the bench and an extra midfielder I would have been happy, could have built on last week with a draw. As it stands we have to start again . With doubts over 2 of 3 keepers , the 3 holding midfielders , in fact any one of the 11 (maybe with the exception of Flint and Mags, Possibly Mathews) and you couldn't argue. Also I don't get why Engvall is good enough to get on the bench but can't get on even when we're desperate for a goal. It is really starting to look like we bought players that look like investments, rather than to fit into a plan. December and no one , not even our manager, knows our best 11 or system.
  22. I know it's been said a few times this season about players diving, but bloody hell they spend a lot of time on the floor. I hope LJ's recruitment is more on making a team rather than buying players that look like profitable sell ons'
