  1. After publicly backing the manager Saturday & a 4-0 win last night? Football Insider’s “throwing shit at a wall and seeing what sticks” tactic in full force again!
  2. I’d be amazed, but the only thing that makes me doubt it is the ownership. They won’t really understand the rivalry between us & them, and will maybe think ‘well we’ve had a squad full of their ex players, so what’s the big deal?’ I think he’s someone who always wants to be in work, and believe he kept his house in Portishead too. He’s always been extremely big on doing media work when he left here and since leaving Charlton. Think even yesterday it was posted tbat he’s appearing on the latest Tifo podcast next week, which is The Athletic’s biggest show.
  3. Heard that he interviewed yesterday, and that as it stands Holden has a very strong chance of getting it.
  4. Fwiw I think both are likely true. They’d have sounded a few people out through representatives, who would’ve said they’d be keen for a discussion if it came up. Having a discussion, and saying yes I’m keen to take the job asap as soon as you sack pearson are obvs worlds apart in terms of logistics. The idea being different to the reality, and all that Jazz. Hughton and Cook seemed very keen, then very unkeen quite soon after discussions/advanced nitty gritty discussions with the powers that be. The fact a fair few people had heard that out of work managers had been sounded out and chatted to, and there’s been absolutely no same name mentioned by multiple papers or journos (even Eustace yesterday was two people from the same paper, probably even the same team!) makes me guess they’ve done this in a fashion of “let’s speak to all the ones that are free first, say yay or nay, and then start moving on to the ones that we’ll need permission to speak to”. Could be well off, but my hunch has always been that they saw Saturday’s game as one that could be won by the interim staff, so that they have more time for the “process”, rather than they saw it as an easy first win for the new man. Although my gut feel has been very wrong for more times than I can count!!!
  5. The pure irony of Cisse being included as a coach during those sessions, when he hasn’t coached for the best part of 2 years.
  6. Yeah agree. I think unless there is multiple reports from multiple different about the same guy tomorrow, it’ll definitely be someone currently in a job imo. Would’ve been talks (and probably advanced ones) if it was someone free, available and keen - and that would’ve got out by now.
  7. 2 journos from the same paper have tweeted it, that’s it so far. Like a coiled spring waiting for Piercy to tweet.
  8. The fact no other journos apart from the initial 2 (working for the same paper) have jumped on and added anything an hour later suggests they may have jumped the gun a bit
  9. Hahah, money I already had in from a winning accumulator anyway!
  10. Would be extremely ‘meh’ for me. Waiting for Piercy/Bristol Live to comment before I get too up or down.
  11. Holding out a bit of hope that it’s not from credible 100% sure journos….will wait for Piercy’s confirmation either way. One full season in the champ, finished 17th last season. I just really wouldn’t see it as a step up on Nige in any way. And certainly wouldn’t really match the front foot exciting style they spoke about earlier on.
  12. John Eustace How depressing
  13. Williams plummeted to 5s on skybet already
  14. Just stuck £15 on myself and it’s dropped down to 14s. Shows how little can swing it!
  15. Slight tangent, but Morton was head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch when I went to Weston Torquay last week. Would be amazed if he’s not at a league side again soon.
  16. It is, but Rob Edwards shows that a genuinely very good coach coming into the right environment means it matters not the league you’re in. My hunch is that’s exactly what the club want to go down. Someone who’s a ‘first’ for the club, we’re not just another club they’ve succeeded at in their cv, ala Pearson.
  17. Saying he’s done OK at Coventry is like saying Howe did alright at Bournemouth
  18. Notts County one of the best playing sides I watched last season. Seriously impressive. I certainly wouldn’t be against it. Fits the bill. Always spoke really well in the 23s media bits too. Left under a dark cloud, but no idea if that was to do with the club, or just Ashton.
  19. I just don’t get why they didn’t come out and say the relationship had broken down and they wanted someone new. I really don’t get it.
  20. Oh dear Tinman, oh deary me.
