  1. I’d say it’s not far off at this stage tbh. Make someone’s job harder, set unrealistic and unreachable targets, don’t speak to them, don’t praise them, don’t let them reap what’s been sown. Maybe Not a hatred, but I’d say there’s a very clear and obvious dislike now.
  2. Fair points, I guess for me I mean largely because of the calibre of person we could attract at that time, the stadium being completely finished, the HPC being done etc but agree finances and squad were scatter gun and a mess.
  3. Exactly that. SL said, on record, he thinks he should’ve been promoted in both 18/19 and 19/20 seasons. I’d love to know what that was based on, apart from his own delusion and spoilt child mentality.
  4. Largely in agreement, but to the point of ‘we’re now in a good position to kick on’ - we were in the best position in the clubs history when LJ went, on and off the pitch. And lansdown made such a big mess of it, many people wouldn’t have believed it if someone from the future came back and told us what was going to happen. I’ve also personally never really understood those who say NP probably isn’t the man to get us promoted. Who is, then? A manager who’s got promoted out of this league before? Well, that’s Pearson. A manager with extensive experience in the league we’re trying to get into? Well, that’s Pearson too. A manager who’s managed bigger clubs than us? Uhh….you can see where I’m going. It’s why to me, the overarching feeling is just pure confusion. It has to be a personal dislike/vendetta against him from the Lansdown’s, there really isn’t another genuine reason in my eyes.
  5. You’ve still gotta be incredibly stupid to do it, even if someone says it might be okay. Especially if you’ve played the game yourself!
  6. Holden played him in two games back to back on rock hard pitches after a really bad hamstring tear, rather than easing him back in. No surprise he lasted 20 minutes in game 2 before tearing it again. Medical team said it was fine too. Was then getting constant mis diagnosis
  7. Holden & Andy Rolls put a huge, career defining dent in the lads future with the way they managed his first few injuries sadly.
  8. He’s never taken training sessions anyway, coaches and conditioning team do that. loads and loads and loads of managers don’t take training.
  9. I reckon he was a bit pissed up when he sent it, especially at that time. Probably won’t reply out of pure regret!
  10. I think part of his anger is clearly (in my mind) that he’s had no question or concern from the Lansdown’s about his health and how he’s doing. I think the ‘go try find someone who isn’t me to tell you’ comment I think is as pointed toward not knowing about his own contract situation, as well as just there being absolutely no comms at all from them to him for the last little while. I think the Nige of old may have even said something more cutting, along the lines of ‘I don’t even know if they work here anymore’ or words to that effect!
  11. I genuinely think he could be gone by Friday if we lose to Ipswich, I really do. Didn’t Williams leave under a pretty big cloud? Or maybe that falling out was between him & Ashton so isn’t a big deal anymore.
  12. Was apparently also to be on the ‘list’ of candidates we wanted to interview when LJ went, but wasn’t interested.
  13. After sleeping on it and reflecting on the comments and thoughts, my overarching feelings now are… 1) What do the Lansdown’s expect to be happening now, that they feel aren’t being reached? 2) Who do they expect/have in mind that could do any better? We know that they’ve become delusional in some of their more recent comment, I.e JL saying in his last ‘interview’ we should have more points (based on absolutely nothing), SL’s nest egg and Luton comments, saying in the last two seasons under LJ he expected us to be promoted (I think he even said, promoted easily?) etc. I think they’re now doubling down on delusion tbh. They think because they finances are much better, and we’ve ‘invested’ again albeit at a pittance of what’s been sold, they equate that to expectation. The reality is very very different in that we sold our best player when the season had already started, and the football operation weren’t allowed to replace him. That should lower expectations straight off the bat. I’m absolutely certain if asked about the academy, they’ll put the success of that & Scott/Conway/Bell’s pathway down to the HPC (I.e ‘my investing’), rather than quality of coaching and manager. I’d put my mortgage on it in fact. As said yesterday, we need a manager not head coach because we need someone who’ll be more of an overseer than a hands on, on the training ground every day coach like LJ & Holden were. Those set ups say “I’m here to coach” and don’t get involved in operational stuff, but there’s such a void in the operational side due to how absolutely horrifically structured we are that we’ll need a Manager to plug those gaps. Even Coppell didn’t get involved in it, and look what happened there. History is likely going to repeat itself. Let’s not forget that if Pearson goes, it’s not a look at the manager odds and predict who’ll come in and scour the rumours. It’ll also very likely mean Fleming, Euell, and even bigger Rennie probably going too. The latter being an absolute huge cog behind the scenes not just linked to our improved fitness, but again as a leader around the HPC every day. They’ll be in for a shock if they think they’ll get a huge name flock to the job and be happy to work under the financial constraints in place, with the squad we have, too. Again, unless that’ll just be scrapped for whoever is the newbie. Nothing at all seems to be adding up to me tbh, outside of it being a personal dislike of him or a more worrying genuine delusion that we should be 1/2/3rd right now just because we’ve actually made some signings in the last two windows. I personally now can see Pearson leaving being sped up before Christmas, or a new short term deal being given in January at the earliest if it’d literally be inexcusable not to because we’re top 7/8 or something. I can’t see signings wanting to jump on board when they’re going to be speaking to a manager about the future, and he doesn’t even himself know if he’ll be there from May onwards due to a contract expiry rather than poor results.
  14. Quite common now for them to be paid the ‘difference’ even when taking a new job between old and new. I.e on £12k a week here but get a new job on £10k a week, so old club pays the £2k gap until end of contract terms at old club
  15. I think what makes it even more worrying for me, is without the right person with the right experience and personality and aura, I.e how Pearson is now, we will completely fall like a house of cards again because of the structure up top. IMO what’s stopping it from being like that now, is the culture and leadership Pearson has instilled. He’s been the face of the club for 11 months now basically. Having to explain pretty much all the ins and outs for things that aren’t even his remit. There is no mediator. There’s basically 3 people doing 5 peoples jobs, one of which with all due respect is very inexperienced. If we end up with the wrong man next, with no one up top knowing what they’re doing either, and an owner who’s desperate to sell up, we’ll be Holden Dec ‘20 - Feb ‘21 era in quick fashion, with the training ground basically becoming a crèche again.
  16. When? Genuinely don’t remember anything other than them hitting the bar and dragging 3 wide.
  17. Coupled with the fact that Coventry are a side who sold their Crown Jewels, however Robins was actually allowed to spend what he brought in. Spent the best part of £12m in the summer. Yet mustered one shot on target against our papered up side.
  18. He got Leicester up under Mandaric, they didn’t fall out, and Mel Morris is arguable up there as one of worst people to ever own a football club in fairness.
  19. May IIRC, which is far and away the shortest amount of time any manager I can remember has ever had left on a deal. Didn’t LJ have 2 years left on his deal before getting a shiny new 4 year one? Sacked 12 months later and probably still getting some sort of pay out of it!
  20. My 2 + 2 = he’s hoped for a conversation about a contract but heard nothing, and likely taken the time to be at home resting as much as possible until he has a diagnosis on his back issue, but also heard no well wishes from SL et al on that either
  21. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/bristol-city-manager-nigel-pearson-8848911 Veru much seems like he’s had enough of the contract situation, and is pushing for someone (SL!!!) to actually have some balls and have a conversation with him about it. Imagine he feels like he has strong enough support of fans and staff internally to be able to publicly say this too. Brilliant, and bloody good on him imo.
  22. I’m not saying we weren’t. Dominated for 30 minutes definitely. But its not like we were being absolutely peppered non stop and Max had a worldy.
  23. Absolutely sensational today
  24. Max had 0 saves to make, and them ‘hitting the bar’ is basically the same as saying they hit two shots off target as they pretty much clipped the top of the bar whilst heading over. Differently story if they crash off the bar and create a goal mouth scramble or something.
