  1. Bob Anderson was the first GK I saw when I started watching City. I was only about 8 but he seemed about 7 ft tall. My earliest memories are of him and Tony Cook in goal. Proper footballs in those days too, especially when wet!! Gibbo probably my No.1 though.
  2. Exactly as I wrote in another thread. You can't judge a book by its cover. We look such an attractive option from outside, so the fault obviously lies within. We just need to identify the problem. My money's on SL despite all he's invested. The buck stops at the top.
  3. Get him as guest speaker at Senior Reds. That will up the membership ?
  4. I don't think Nige will walk away. I think he made the mistake of judging the book by its cover. (As did Coppell imo). Britain's 7th? largest city with a billionaire owner and a catchment area that most other teams would envy. It's surely there for the taking. What could possibly go wrong? Trouble is, something or someone is lurking beneath the surface. If we can eradicate that problem, then who knows? Problem is finding and fixing the flaw, whatever it is.
  5. Jon is chairman in name only. No power, no authority, a chocolate teapot.
  6. Which block you moving to? The guy in front of me isnt renewing and I fear the worst. ?
  7. Actually the two of them together might just....................................................................................?
  8. He can meet up with Warnock and have a good chinwag.

Fair point Joe. Ave wage in the Prem is 60k so that was just an example. Judging by yesterday's performance we need at least at least 6 new players to compete in the Championship! My original point about SL not being able to afford the Prem, I still stand by though. Its why he is looking for additional financial input into the club. Prem is a long way off for this club though. Div 1 looks more likely at present.

It wouldn't mean just trebling the money of present players though. It would mean signing half a dozen "Webster" type players for upwards of 20 million each and paying the going rate for wages if we want to compete. 60k a week is 3 million a year per player. Do the maths. The Prem is not the pot of gold for all teams. Of course SL could just pocket the cash, not buy anyone, increase the current wages by 50%, and come crashing back down again. If we want to compete and stay in the Prem,( if we ever get there) , it will cost big time.

You think he will make money in the Prem? 4 or 5 decent players plus scary wages and agents fees will make a big dent in 140 mil. Do you think many Prem clubs make a profit? SL said when we got to the Championship that he was surprised at players fees and wage demands. If he thought that was scary, well, watch out!!

I don't think SL wants or can afford Premiership football at A G. Nige has spotted that and is now in a no win situation.
  14. I appreciate that your circumstances are very different to mine and therefore your reasons also. I am a bit of an old stager now though having watched City from the fifties. I've seen us in the top and bottom flights and I've seen brilliance and utter trash in that time. Football has changed massively over that time mostly for the better but not always. Yes I've stood ankle deep in p*ss in the old toilets and queued for hours in the rain for tickets. Difference then was that it felt more personal then. Today its much more a business selling a product to a customer. My hearts not in it as much as it was. Will I renew? Probably, but it's more a habit now rather than a passion. Now, where's my checkbook?
  15. Lots of interesting views and angles on this thread about s/t sales. Ultimately, although finances play a huge part, it's the product on offer that is the main thing. At present, that product doesn't look good enough.
  16. Fair point but most complaints are about the price structure so I'm pretty sure we would sell more than 13000 if tickets were £200.
  17. If the expected revenue is approx 4 million then the best way in my view is to have 20000 fans paying average £200each which would be good for atmosphere and the concession sales. Or SL could stump up 4 mil and come on his own. Same club revenue, but if we want more fans , then we need to make pricing more attractive.
  18. Bloody hell Dave, leave me something to moan about. Backwards play is my pet hate!!!!
  19. Really undecided at the present. Haven't come away from AG after a game with a spring in my step for years. I know that can change in an instant but its the hope that kills. I'm getting on a bit now and don't want to stop doing things that I won't restart. That makes it sound like a habit, which it is. But it's a habit I used to enjoy and look forward to and I just don't anymore. Can somebody give me some encouragement please????
  20. Note to self. "Must take tablets as prescribed"
  21. I got done by an ice cream van on the M5 once. To be fair to me, it was nightime and I thought it was an ambulance coming and not a Mr Whippy. He must have been doing 90 though.
