  1. He came through during the Mel Morris era so I'd be surprised if it's quite so low, at their peak they had a wage bill of £46m on a £30m turnover!! ? They didn't release accounts for several years after that so it's hard to say.
  2. Will depend on fee and wage demands. Maybe off but will he fit our wage structure, other clubs can spend quite big. Ipswich who were interested, Stoke in theory have a fair amount of headroom.
  3. Well by the standards of their forum maybe! ? Agree with you all we wouldn't pay that. Perhaps they're stuck in the pre Covid transfer mindset but if those were his wishes then we can safely rule it out for now.
  4. Well then, I suppose a key question is how far will, can we stretch too. Seen a suggestion on Derby forum that he might command a wage of £20-25k per week from a relatively sensible poster. Would we stretch to that, could we especially if Scott stays.
  5. Rare bit of good news or not wholly had news for Reading. Their embargo list is down to one. Bad news, it's the HMRC stuff but the Loan Wage one was a new one.
  6. We signed and sold far too many in his tenure. That can be financially ruinous as you say. I also question whether he got the best out of enough of them, tactically, man-management wise whatever. Oh and finances aside, such a churn of players is terrible for growth and cohesion of a team.
  7. It could. I'm thinking we have £2-3m maybe to put in and keep us compliant with FFP. We'll see when the 2022-23 accounts out but bit may break down as. £2m Knight- 4 year deal, used up £0.667m of that. £12k per week wages, £0.624m of that. £1.291m used up. Leaving £0.709 to £1.709m to put baxk into the team before deparures. We could add Wilson and Massengo to the pot as and when they arise.
  8. Agreed, I'm just thinking that'll be Derby's asking price. What that means for our chances of getting him remains to be seen.
  9. £2.5m has been my prediction magic number wise, maybe it'll be closer to but somewhere between £2-2.5m.
  10. My best estimates are, I believe our typical allowables £7m per season. £28.5m in 2021-22 less £7m in FFP costs and using the baseline EFL Covid losses £2.5m so £19m in 2021-22. @ExiledAjax a while ago iirc suggested £13m in losses last year including Semenyo. That is £6m in FFP terms I reckon. No need for Covid allowances for seasons after 2pw1-22 except for inclusion in FFP numbers for that cycle. It makes sense too, Cup run, a one-off impairment reduction, some wage and amortisation savings net fall less the new additions. Maybe £12-13m given the accelerated Janaury. Therefore we can lose £14-15m in FFP terms this year so maybe £21-22m before tax our limit. Reid would have been one for us but who else?
  11. Seen it suggested thst their transfer budget for this season is only £20m plus money generated from sales of course. It'll be due to cash flow and debt liabilities not FFP which I believe they have few if any issues with.
  12. Thinking one or two windows ahead, short of promotion if we don't get a £25m bid what's the plan? I expect clubs will try to leverage down the price because it's business, obviously. Factors to consider: 1) Scott may have his head turned by a PL or foreign top division club. See Gykores at Coventry and in general many players down the years. 2) How long has the contract offer been on the table for? 3) Once we get into the final 18 months value v time wise starts to cross a threshold, thinking the January window. Usually not a good time to sell although post a Winter World Cup that could change- Souttar at £15m seemed a bit toppy IMO. Could depend on how we are doing on the pitch too as to our necessity and or inclination to sell at that point.
  13. How old is old. Do like some Oasis and their earlier stuff the mid 1990s. Muse are still going albeit have been for a while. Twenty One Pilots came across the other day, alright range of songs. Been going a while but not really heard of them before. They formed in 2009 and amended form in 2011 the last one.
  14. The Alex Crook update in full. Scott as we can see one of many options. Albeit Levi Colwill is a centre back of course.
  15. As for West Ham. They're set to place a bid for a midfielder today. Zakaria for €18m but Juventus want €25m. Borussia Dortmund seem to have (at present) dropped out of the race for Alvarez so that is another avenue open to West Ham. That said Rice and Lanzini have departed to they'll need at least 2 midfielders IMO.
  16. Two examples, dunno if irs the right thread. Vincenzo's Park Street, 50 odd years. Shut down, is sue to b3come student flats. The Basement also seems to have closed its doors, developers plans cited not looked into that one much.
  17. Interesting thread. Good chunk before my time but the pace of change and the constancy of change is amazing! South Bristol isn't what it was, there seem to be less good typical cafes that do fry ups etc, gentrification for you. It has its good and bad points but the pace of change..
  18. This is true.it never ceases to infuriate however...always against sensibility I think "Maybe this time". For 2022 very much so and maybe 2023 too and maybe beyond.
  19. Thanks, that clarifies some aspects. From an outsider looking in it is weird with PSG, most years there is chatter abour FFP but they hit the spending accelerator post Covid, and smashed all sensible limits. Sure they frontloaded some costs but that gave a huge cost.. When a side in the 3rd year posts a €375m pre tax loss frontloading some or not, that should be severely punished! Juventus too got off too lightly. Tbis was in the season following Covid most revenues will have bounced back. Varied deparures plus Messi and Ramos but Skriniar and Asensio in free, Ugarte €50m and reportedly that Mallorca player whose name escapes me plus the past losses will cost. Oh and the cost of firing Galtier and hiring Enrique, surely a major sale must follow. Maybe more than one. I'm assuming French and Qatari ties play a role at domestic level if there is some leniency.
  20. Yeah, agreed. In which case Cardiff surely have an FFP issue but they don't seem to be acting like it.
  21. Would have made a bigger play for Corberan if I were Leeds but Farke has the titles despite the sales of Maddison and Murphy on his CV albeit the 2nd a bounce back and the first year of Parachute Payments in the 2nd but their wage bill in 2018-19 wasn't all that big iirc (once promotion bonuses stripped out). Think Corberan probably tactically a bit better than Farke but yes can see why.
  22. To take it to its logical extreme however were they to win the Sala case they could spend untold amounts strengthening this season. Was €110m they are arguing for, £94.25m!! This would clear FFP and leave an enormous unhindered budget for this level. Stratospheric, maybe unprecedented even with the prior losses. The advantage that it could give them if it goes their way... They could subject to amortisation increase their likely wage bill by £50m this season were that case to be won. May also mean they could keep it around that next year too if they didn't go up..they could have two huge bites.
  23. Think we have £2-3m left of headroom that includes wages, amortisation etc. How much were you thinking? E.g. a £3m fee 3 year deal for £10k a week would be £1.52m added to the cost base. We in theory if was a 4 year deal could splash up to £10m in a fee if our headroom £3m or £6m if our headroom £2m, assuming £10k per week wages of course. Or £4.5-7.5m on fee if 3 year deal. Clearly if we sell Scott that changes entirely. Actually found a reference to FFP on a Cardiff forum. Basically says they're assured not to fall foul again.. could be talking about the period ending 2022-23 obvs or perhaps they're conflating issues.
  24. Are they banking on big Sala compensation or partial or full reversal of Impairment I wonder as part of their strategy.
  25. Just on other clubs. These 3 made similar losses in 2021-22. Birmingham as we know got £9-10m for Bellingham and £1.5m minimum for his brother plus maybe selling Chong so we can perhaps push them down the list somewhat but not entirely. QPR sold Dickie but haven't really sold anyone else yet. There was chatter of a £10m FFP hole but no major sale(s) yet. Unsure how far they have got as far as clearing the hole is concerned. If West Brom had any issues and I doubt they did by tbis point, selling O'Shea for £7m as an academy product will certainly help. They can't go on a spending spree but I don't think they'll fail either . Cardiff are the ones that interest me most currently. Like the first 2 they lost in the ballpark of £24-27m before tax. Sure they will have brought costs down last year but nobody has been sold and nobody of note since the few million profit for Moore mainly in January 2022- they've just signed two players albeit free and loan. Those players they added last season won't have come cost free, all about the net fall in wages and amortisation not just the cost savings from departures. Even if we assume a reported wage cap of £12k for new signings I expect a lot will have been in the £5-10k per week bracket. Wiki says their squad now has 30 players. Leicester too might be interesting but if and when Barnes sold for £30-40m, academy product pure profit that could change it again. Hard to say with them at present.
