  1. John Percy did a report recently which intimated that Wolves plan was targeting players in the £8-15m bracket. With FFP in mind and he mentioned varied departures too. Now perhaps Neves going for £47m, the bulk of which will be profit changes this. Moves this dial but think before they're in a position to do heavy lifting again more will be required. They did lose £46m in 2021-22 despite a profit on transfers, despite finishing top half in PL. Before spending £150-200m on additions last season, and sakxijf Lage may have cost. Otoh Gibbs-White pure profit, maybe a profit on Dedoncker too.
  2. Still sceptical about £20m though, the good news is that they can no longer post accounts as a small company so they will have to itemise ie Gate Receipts, T.V. etc. Not a pure guarantee of course but arms length commercial revenue...I assume commercial revenue will be the biggest chunk of the income 2021-22 accounts as stated by the club, CH rules means that they as I said only had to publish as a small company.
  3. I wonder what the first bid will be and by whom. That could spark the wider interest and perhaps a bidding war.
  4. Much reduced though some sites say the hole £50m, one Twitter account even said £70m. Then does that take into account the cost of new additions ie the added amortisation and added wages. Clubs always in Year 3. Hard to say with Neves, suspect Barcelona if not for their own domestic FFP limits would have gone quite big. Agree the Mendes link q as highly fortunate at best. Of course FFP a UEFA invention so there are no limits applicable to Saudi, Chinese clubs or whoever, save for those imposed by their own FA/Football League.
  5. Read differing things about the size of their FFP hole but this will help a lot.
  6. Will free up funds for Wolves, will be interesting to see if this changes their mooted strategy of signing players in the £8-15m bracket or if they will now be more flexible. Fee in the Tottenham article that says £20m, about £5-10m too low?
  7. That is a bit of a coup for Saudi Arabia. So far it has been top players but the wrong side of 30. Neves is how old, 26? Porto's youngest ever captain too, in and around the Portugal squad. I will try and work out the profit on disposal. £47m minus remaining Book Value. Neves did sign an extension at some point. Probably £43-45m profit on disposal minus any potential sell-on to Porto of course.
  8. Perhaps it's a pointless exercise but am trying to work out our desired fee vs where the market is at. Massengo currently linked with a move back to Monaco but Burnley or an English club, would it go to a tribunal? Fair. Suppose the key thing for us is that unlike say Semenyo in January we don't strictly speaking need to sell. If we suddenly go on a spending spree that may change but beyond that. Yeah £25m seems a reasonable price and we shouldn't be accepting less.
  9. Reportedly Southampton have set a price tag of £15m on Tella. Does this give any indicator of where the market is at? If Tella worth £15m what is Scott worth. (Burnley aren't sure). Then again Southampton freshly relegated may have a more pressing need for sales than us.
  10. The Championship is a money pit so I'm not fully sure what point you're trying to make with this. The FFP loss is the big factor here. Yeah SL took his eye off the ball, or got carried away. Perhaps a mix of the 2. Training Ground and stadium yeah he has been putting the infrastructure in place. Bit like Brighton did. Academy is vastly improved too. Covid didn't help but we certainly cannot blame that for our woes, to an extent but the wage bill, indeed the increasing wage bill and amortisation were underpinned by a profit on disposal of players which is mad when you think about. Because of Ashton and terrible oversight of him by SL, we have just had 18 months to 2 years of austerity. We've narrowly avoided damaging FFP sanctions. Lee Johnson and his constant churn of players didn't help either. We owe a significant debt of gratitude to Gould and Pearson.
  11. I suppose some of the PL clubs maybe thinking if Scott gets the perception that he is priced out of a move as the summer wears on then he may throw his toys out and they can come and low ball a bit, come in a bit lower. Levy in particular has form for low ball offers. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Hopefully we will either see him stay and continue to flourish or if he goes it will be for the bid we and he deserve.
  12. Quick Google search said that was the profit for the producers, Disney. Granted from last October. $400k per episode.
  13. Never rains but pours for Reading although maybe it is a rehash of April's news. If it isn't a rehash that could have further implications or complications for the period ending 2022-23. Nixon says they cannot use the land asset or shares in land asset towards FFP for their 2022-23 books.
  14. I think everyone so far sees £25m as excessive, in terms of bidding clubs. Dean Jones suggests this although he also suggests that when the first bid by someone goes in a scramble could ensue.
  15. A sevenfold increase in a year or 2 at Non League? Or a rise from £6m to £20m in one season looked at another way. Low base or not hmm. Think their reported turnover has gone: 2020-21, Covid granted- £2.5m 2021-22, Very limited restrictions, Wales had some laat season iirc- £6m 2022-23- £20m Sadly they seem to have taken advantage of the small companies exemption for last season (EFL can still see/inspect in more depth if needed) so not until the 2022-23 books appear. Breakdown of Gate, Commercial etc unless it's on their site.
  16. Spending power from Raya would help free up funds for Scott. I could see that- they are looking to move towards a more consistent use of 4-3-3 and Scott would definitely bring something to their midfield.
  17. Clarke has turned them round impressively. Always thought his sacking by West Brom was a bit unfair.
  18. They have apparently made £20m in the National League albeit a season of significant success. A club the size of Ipswich and I assume Sheffield Wednesday didn't even post this in League One...very interesting? May be Sunderland will have exceeded in League One but not many League One clubs won't and a few Championship clubs undoubtedly won't even match it.
  19. Freshly promoted from National League. Supposedly and somehow a £20m turnover. More than some Championship clubs even! In a similar bracket to a number of them.
  20. Wolves have difficulties financially ie FFP wise, Brighton and West Ham could be more financially likely. A year left on his deal, in theory if all goes to plan he will have grown further as a player and have better numbers- otoh what percentage might a player value start to fall in the final year. The transfer market is a strange thing though, January 2023 Harry Souttar £15m. Post WC effect playing a role, had Semenyo had a greater chance to shine in Qatar might we have got a bigger fee? Souttar is older and a defender but I think was contracted until 2025.
  21. I do wonder if Borussia Dortmund might yet end up bidding for Scott. Nothing reported but they seem to be moving from target to target, either scattergun or price differentials who knows. Alvarez from Ajax seems to be the constant but the 2nd of 2 seemed to have been Nmecha (Wolfsburg) now it is Hjulmand Lecce and various ones in between. Scott was ahead of all of these at respective stages of career btw. Otoh in the case of the Lecce one, €15-20m seems to be mooted, and perhaps Borussia Dortmund will see that as better value to spread around the team. Or if Borussia Dortmund get gazumped on one or even both, perhaps Scott will come into view a bit more. There has been nothing outside of Bristol City social media afaik concretely linking Scott to Dortmund yet.
  22. It could be protests against the ownership and current mismanagement but the article doesn't make it fully clear. It is a protest at the stadium according to the Reading forum too.
  23. Tbh I've been looking at social media and their forum last couple of years since their FFP issues came to light and generally when you compare it to Derby fans or a lot of their fans between say 2019 and 2021, they've taken the FFP stuff on the chin relatively speaking. Not really looked into this one. Perhaps they're trying to reduce a sanction based on mitigating factors but surely an Agreed Decision would be the best way to proceed there. Interesting post from their forum too. Think they basically said they would raise £12m in profit on disposal last season to avoid the extra-6 being applied instantly to 2021-22. Hence the suspended deduction element. Mentions loanees wages unpaid- wonder if the league have pulled them up pertaining to very cheap or free loans from Chelsea in the last year or 2??
  24. Watford have also claimed in a Fans Forum that no issue with the Kamara deal. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/23595484.watford-owner-pozzo-quizzed-fans-working-bayat/ Said it's part of the usual checks etc. Time will tell but in any case I would expect even a downward adjustment should it occur not to tip them into FFP default which is the true test really in this context. They also said it was all arms-length, aspects of media hype etc. (Pozzo, Duxbury and one or 2 others taking the questions).
