  1. Their wage bill has been steadily increasing, maybe they're set to sell Flemming as Burnley have been linked which could bring in millions which frees up some wage spending.
  2. I've read the thread I posted again after with others looks nonsense. Just someone on the Derby forum described them as an ITK when I was browsing their Knight thread. Stoke are also interested in Knight, unsure who else.
  3. Bit of chatter at the Ipswich end. If that's accurate he is having a medical today, only time will tell.
  4. Swift would be highly effective output wise IMO and he has a recent track record to back it up but it is worth remembering he is right in his peak years. He's 28 he is in his prime so is not really comparing like with like.
  5. The other bit regarding Cardiff and FFP. This case is forecast to last 12-18 months. I believe a Cardiff FFP issue is most likely to arise in the coming season, seems speculative to me until such time as the credit to accounts arises- if indeed it does. Therefore I don't see how an unknown amount of questionable validity and uncertain timing can be included in present and future projections. Clearly when it materialises maybe but that if at all would likely be 2024-25.
  6. I don't disagree, good post without doubt. If we can retain the benefit of Scott for another year then that would be brilliant and may help us to push on further. It will be interesting to see what the top bid will be however.
  7. Well yes and thanks for the significant analysis the numbers basically do stack up when you put it that way. 1 pct chance. It does feel rather wrong though, to me. It may persuade Nantes to consider a settlement, not sure Cardiff have much of a case tbh but.. While I understand it on a base level, they chose to accelerate it into a highly favourable period..the provision appeared in 2018-19 accounts didn't it? A year and a cycle with PL income and Parachute income- wasn't even amortised over the term of the deal due to the front loading into a more favourable period. To reverse an imoaimenrt or stick compensation in feels like benefiting twice.
  8. Looking at age, trajectory, position. Trying to compare different fees, age position similar stages and of career although strikers v midfielders? What percentage higher does a striker cost. Maybe it's a pointless exercise.
  9. Inter but yes. Part of me thinks we won't but then I see Balogun reportedly in the market for £35m and think Scott at £25m is good if not a bit cheap! Bit who blinks first? I wonder if Scott himself would be happy to stay another year just jn case or is he seeing a move as inevitable. Only he and his entourage will know that I guess.
  10. Dean Jones suggests that clubs are not rushing to meet the price tag. Wolves certainly don't think £25m is right according to this, other clubs and the window time will tell. In fact things move quickly so again this could be outdated within a week. https://www.footballfancast.com/wolverhampton-wanderers-transfer-news-alex-scott/
  11. Not strictly speaking City and Scott but reportedly Arsenal have put a £35m price tag on Balogun. Now as a striker he will get more chances to score and he has done very well at Reims and has the PL premium...but he is also 2 years older. At Middlesbrough age 20 and a half, he didn't pull up any trees in a team challenging for the top 6. Older than Scott is now he was at Middlesbrough.. He also like Scott has 2 years left on his deal.
  12. It's just fairly disgusting that they are even trying it tbh. I'm convinced some kind of Sala offset, reversal of Impairment or compensation is part of their financial planning, FFP theory. Even beyond that though, it's low even for them.
  13. Article albeit in French. https://tribunenantaise.fr/actus-fcnantes/le-tribunal-de-commerce-de-nantes-fixe-le-calendrier-du-contentieux-opposant-le-fc-nantes-et-cardiff-city/ Cardiff seem to be arguing that the goals of the late Sala (RIP) would have kept them up and the €110m maybe a combination of another year in the PL and another year of Parachute Payments that such a verdict would be the revenue gap. As staying up one year means 55 pct and 45 pct of central award in Parachute Payments, a 2nd year means a further 20 pct in the 3rd and final season. As happened IRL: PL money Year 1 Parachute Year 2 Parachute Thereafter onto Solidarity Payments In Cardiff scenario, can only assume: PL money as was PL money in 2nd year as Sala goals sees them stay up. (Less any Covid rebates). Year 1 Parachute (Less any Covid rebates). Year 2 Parachute Year 3 Parachute which will supersede Solidarity Payments. They're arguing on balance of probability that Sala and his goals would have been the difference and Nantes vicariously liable or similar. Possibly xG data was one of the argued for tools.
  14. Borussia Dortmund probably won't be bidding this summer as Alvarez and Nmecha look likely yo sign, especially Alvarez. Can't think they would look to go in for a 3rd CM but then again they lost Bellingham and Dahoud in one summer so...
  15. Looks like Cardiff are pushing ahead. €110m. Case estimated to take anything between 12-18 months.
  16. Bit in Friday's Times that says clubs will certainly be exploring this. Notts County and Wrexham are two mentioned. Plus cites a senior EFL club figure (unnamed) as saying: One senior EFL club figure said teams may target players from a specific country in order to boost their profile there. "If there is a promising Indian player, for example, that could be a very good opportunity for a club to develop support there", he said.
  17. This gem of a thread from the Derby forum mid April 2019 when suggestions first arose that all may not be well FFP wise a good example. I remmeber it, it sticks in the mind- there were a couple of puns based on the title but not much concern, although only a few pages in. https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/32065-trouble-ahead/
  18. https://theuglygame.wordpress.com/2023/06/22/cheering-on-our-own-ruin/ Sort of FFP related, sort of general football and finance when things go wrong. I remember Derby fans or at least based on online platforms cheering on Mel Morris greatly. Sure there were chants in the ground about it after they were first charged. Sheffield Wednesday next in line for glee when Hillsborough 'sold' in 2019. Birmingham, dunno if there was gloating so much as defiance in 2018 when charged. Defiance and a feeling of being singled out. Reading unsure they were as visceral as the rest, especially Derby but elements of it maybe. I remember Reading first missed a wage payment or were late with it in April 2019. Wasn't spoken about much, that was in the days of Shaun Harvey running the League. First late payment by Reading, the date. https://www.getreading.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/reading-fc-players-not-paid-16207189
  19. Haha quite. Intrigued though as to the Cardiff vow of silence on it. Their local reporters do not refer afaik, their forums again The odd individual post here and there but no great detail.
  20. I agree. Specifically about this, definitely I've looked for a while and i's so difficult to find any kinda Cardiff fan discussion on FFP implications. It's a bit of a myth among fans not just Cardiff that's gone round tbh, seen it on Twitter, that FFP was and is suspended.
  21. Theoretically does it open a door to sign players on loan with a fee in January? That could be useful albeit a clear gaming of the system. The £39m is the elephant in the room . I've been looking for Cardiff fan discussion on it, very hard to find. A moderator on Cardiff 606 seems comcincrf that it's been suspended due to Covid the loss limit and irs more about compliance with general financial regulations, the EFL site does not reflect this though, I see no evidence that the limit remains suspended. Surely an Agreed fiscal plan would be inclusive of keeping within FFP limits?
