What I find odd is that SL comes from the financial services industry where there are always objectional and difficult individuals working for companies yet they get kept on because they make the money and the results. I don’t understand why SL does not run the club in the same way as in the business world where he clearly has been successful. He does not employ Pearson to be a yes man, he was brought in to get the club out of self-inflicted mire which clearly he’s been doing, so not to extend the contract or at least start a conversation about it does make you think that this is a more personal issue rather than a football one.

So no not pointless at all. Wells is a shocking example, he always looks pissed off when substituted, especially if he’s not scored. I would argue that NP wants his players to be angry and will be pleased with the reaction.
