Huddersfield Town away match thread
bexhill reds replied to Jerseybean's topic in The Havanatopia Match Day Archive
Another ******* soft goal to concede…. Is that a process or a behaviour? -
No, his effect was to mostly run backwards towards our goal and point or wave his arms around. His error by taking the ball inside caused their goal. Sykes was played out of position just to accommodate Wiemann. He’s not the player of a couple of years ago, should not be a starter again.

Misjudged the bounce and had a striker alongside him that gambled and got it right. Goes under the category of stuff happens, he’s played well until that point. -

Tough to take, not nearly good enough up front. Wiemann should never play for this club again. Utter shit -

I suspect that’s got more to do with the sheer amount of minutes he’s played for us and Eire over the past weeks and another 2 games this week -

I’d agree with you on more safe standing as being an option to create the sort of environment which lead to more atmosphere and behind the goal at the south stand may well be the best place to create that. If they’re going go to do something like that then best to do it sooner to reduce some grief that they’ll get from season ticket holders there, the stand’s not been there long enough for anyone to bring out the season tickets for generations line, and with some financial encouragement to shift a bit of it would be perfectly achievable. Perhaps a bit of a sweeping line but I do think our home support can be very quiet at times excluding S82, but if the quality and entertainment improves then the atmosphere will improve, I’m usually an upper Lansdown person when I go these days as I like watching the tactics, but even then that stand has got going at times with the right game, Hull at home the season before last and then Huddersfield on a Friday night a few years back. Not sure about reducing away fans though, I take your point from a noise perspective, but the revenue bit especially if the football side keeps, is key is it not? -

Very difficult to make that work logistically given the ways in and out of the top tier. Personally the family stand should be closer to pitch side for the benefit of the kids, rather than up in the gods, but that’s a completely different topic. -

I’ve not been in the Atyeo for years, but fit out wise it’s going to be the oldest part of the ground now, I do get the argument for getting closer proximity to away fans to get the atmosphere going, when I first started going you had away and home fans in either corner of the open end, and I seem recall away fans in the corner of the shed too for a while. -

Can you artificially create an atmosphere in what is essentially a sanitised concrete seated multi purpose venue these days? I think performance and success will create the atmosphere, sadly I believe as a collective home support base we only sing when we’re winning or at least being entertained. I think the point about the away fans in the Atyeo stand has been taken away by management, although I get the difficulties the club has now from a segregation perspective in shifting away supporters to different locations, it will be a nightmare to keep fans apart given the various walk around open concourses in the new stands. The Atyeo is the most sensible place for away supporters at present, plus a very good way of eeking out lots of £30+ per head for well supported rivals. -

I’d agree with most I thought Manning answered the questions well, and I’m impressed by his demeanour, his focus and drive. I can see he’d be really interested in the academy given the environments and levels he’s been coach at before. I particularly liked the answer he gave about comparisons to other coaches, in that he’s doing it his way rather than a way that someone else does it. As for the others, it’s clear that the other 3 are not willing or accomplished public speakers, Gould and Ashton were very good in these type of scenarios, where JL clearly isn’t, you can be media trained to an extent, but you do have to have something about you in the first place. Some of the questions were a bit cringeworthy, but again lots people are not great at holding a microphone and asking a journalistic arrow-like question. Flicking through the thread I can see that some people have picked up perhaps negatively on the spend the day at Ashton Gate question, personally speaking that’s not a bad point to make, this is something that locally to me Brighton have been trying to do for a while, partly due to the limited transport links, so they encourage fans to come earlier and leave later to ease congestion with the added bonus of spending their money with the club. The question on injuries was reasonably answered, they’re looking at the data, I’ll buy that. Perhaps they could have mixed some of the questions with some from online, but again people would question how much these are santised, although we have these online questions at internal town halls and these are all displayed and polled live so the popular questions rise to the top, perhaps something that the various supporters groups could feed back to the club should they host future events. Overall a little bit unsatisfactory, but at least they’ve done one.- 581 replies

Middlesborough at home match thread

Wouldn’t say they were in total control, can’t remember that many clear chances for Boro, I think defensively we’ve managed them pretty well, despite the 2 goals it’s still not quite clicking up front -

The second, the club has always indicated that the recruitment process has included the manager. -

I get the point that is being made, but if our new man is selecting because of status or not wanting to upturn the Apple cart, then he’s onto a loser before he starts and I hope he’s better than that -

I’ve watched every game which to my mind is more relevant than training. No one can say that Wiemann has done anything that warrants selection, if he’s looking like Messi in training he’s not transferring that to match days -

Either way it’s rubbish, it’s a professional game. If he’s watched any of the previous games on tape or taken a sounding from the remaining coaching staff. He’s been poor, can’t recall the last game he’s been effective in. Club captain should have no bearing on selection. -

Rubbish, club captain or not he should be picked on performance merit and not his popularity. Sadly he’s been distinctly average all season a shadow of the 20 goal season player he was. -

Tinnion is the director of football, they are signings that he has identified and put forward to the manager, said so himself in the interviews. -

Assuming that TGH is a Tinnion signing and we keep him. Will be James’ replacement I think got an eye for a pass and a dead ball -

Mehmeti was a waste of a seat on the players coach and Wiemann not much better and has not been for a while. Much better with TGH on the pitch let’s hope the head coach has seen this.- 99 replies

It’s got nothing to do with an agenda, it’s calling it as it was, utter shite against a very average team. Got to be a marked improvement against Boro else what was the point in changing. -

Poor, insipid and largely uninspiring. That’s the freebie game from my perspective, now got the international break and get this lot sorted. -
