  1. This is all a bit shit really, perhaps all those calling for Mehmeti to start can pipe down a bit now.. Not championship class yet.
  2. And clearly tweaking a playing style, perhaps even formations, getting to know the players, assessing their individual strengths and weaknesses can all be done on the back of a 6 minute talk and 2 and a bit days on the training ground…… Judge the progress after 6-8 games, QPR will be interesting in terms of team selection arguably (even if injury means that it’ll pretty much pick itself), but it can’t be a litmus test on the qualities and abilities of a new manager and new playing ethos.
  3. His game relies on movement, little runs and through balls, ideally with a player in close proximity to allow him to benefit working as a tandem, our wide front 3 with him in the centre means that invariably he is acting as the hold up player or dropping deeper to get the ball. TC operates best in and around the penalty box.
  4. Odd comment from a football fan, especially if you’ve seen a younger player come through the academy, make their City debut and clearly get better and better before they leave and not leave on bad terms. Why would you not be interested on how they do at a higher level, especially if you can say with a certain sense of pride that they started their career at City.
  5. Didn’t need to spend a penny, Chelsea with **** all transfer budget with their squad size and loan squad is a very different place to Bristol City. Very average manager playing off the back of a stellar playing career and the family name. The only thing you’d get with him is a bit more media focus until Sky get bored.
  6. They are too wide compared to Semenyo, Martin and Wiemann when they had their purple patch. It just ends up with people being isolated and crosses into no one. Not a fan. I don’t think we’d lose that much from forward play if we went back to a system that played 2 up front.
  7. Largely uninspiring, perhaps the new manager will break away from playing a front 3, it does not suit our forwards other than perhaps Cornick
  8. I maintain that Conway is better playing as part of a 2 and not a lone striker. Cornick and Conway would be interesting.
  9. Very much like TGH, one of those quietly effective midfielders.
  10. Really not enthused by a Lampard appointment, a very average manager boosted by the success of his playing career, been slowly found out at each club he goes to.
  11. We don’t want to reinvest the Scott cash, but happy to pay a Prem club a million or so on one of their youngsters. Didn’t Palarse want a mill and half for the CB we were supposedly interested in.
  12. Fair point re Ipswich, but their manager had got a team promoted and pretty much kept that same team together, that’s not picking up someone who’s got to get to know the players then impose his style of working on them.
  13. Depends how this affects the players as they clearly had bought into NPs ethics, there’s always one club that has a little free fall in the same way that there’s always one club that hits the playoff zone from nowhere. Bring in an experienced manager then possibly not, bring in an LJ type with no Championship experience and with no sensible managerial experience then very possibly so, the Championship is a hard place to learn on the job, especially if you don’t get supporter backing early doors. This is why the timing seems odd, if your going to push the button then do it in Jan if the results are not promotion looking, you couldn’t see this team under NP getting relegated. **** this one up with an uninspiring appointment (Smith, Rowett, Harris) then I think relegation beckons
  14. I’m absolutely incredulous and so so angry about this decision and the timing. It just makes no sense given the injury list at present. Clearly NP dared to cross the rubicon and dare to question the current owners with their clear and obvious superior knowledge of how to run a football club….. Love to have access to the players Whats App group today, I wonder if they are as shocked as we are. They’ve got to get the next appointment right and I wonder if they’ve pulled the trigger because other clubs have recently done it and they are concerned about losing a preferred candidate. The only benefit I’m personally going to take from this is that this thread has helped identify the bellends to block. The Sheff Wed game is could be a lively affair, I know that people are suggesting a boycott, but I think fans should go and support the players but totally boycott any of the commercial outlets in the ground, no club shop, sports bar or pies and pints on the concourse. Utter fuckwittery of the highest order.
  15. I was thinking more of the various hamstring, calve and Vyner’s ACL-lite that all seems to be fairly innocuous in terms of their occurrence. But definitely one that should be looked at if the club have not done so already. We do seem to be consistently unfortunate when it comes to medium terms injuries
  16. Could it be the pitch given that it’s part artificial part grass and the amount of sport played on it, no other teams seem to be getting this volume of injuries season after season. It seems to be affecting us more than most, other than Atkinson at Sunderland, I wonder how many of the non impact match related injuries have arisen from AG as a result of the quality of the pitch in terms of grip lack of or otherwise?
  17. Not really, the 1st 12-18 months essentially getting rid of the deadwood, then a complete rebuild with periodically the risk of an FFP issue, then having the proverbial rug pulled by a key transfer out, Semenyo last season then Scott at the start of this, but without all of those funds being put back into the team. I’m not sure how many managers would have accepted the gig in the first place and then stuck around (for the moment) to continue. Are we collectively where we want to be? No, and I suspect that view is shared across the club from board to fans, are we where we should be given the starting point of his tenure, then arguably yes.
  18. I don’t know how many games you’ve watched this season but apart from 1 or 2 we’ve not been totally outclassed and and at times we’ve held on for a result (draw/win) where previous recent iterations of City would have been well beaten, that’s the difference he’s made. As part of the same point in those games a large number of the goal’s conceded have been off the back of poor decision making rather than out and out good play. There has been progress but I suspect your starting point is not wanting NP in the first place, so therefore would not be prepared to recognise it
  19. NP mentioned in the post match interview that the majority are impact/match injuries rather than training, only one is a training injury. Bit of a spikey interview to be fair
  20. Good bit of footwork though, can’t take that away from the goal.
  21. Shame, thought the generally played quite well in spite of the difficulties. Didn’t think it was a 2-0 game, Cardiff looked average. Ref was poor, another Prem League reject.
  22. Holds on to it too long at times, waiting for the perfect pass or not enough movement for him
