  1. I'd really love to know what Jon actually wants to do regarding City himself.

Maybe he loves being involved everywhere and has pushed for this from his dad for the last 20 years. If so he has a funny way of showing it and is really not doing a great job anywhere really.

Maybe his passion is actually the Fever Pitch stuff, in which case as far as billionaire son's playthings go it's not the worst tbh. Just let him have his fun, it's not good but it's not that bad. If we were doing better on the pitch I don't think anyone would really care. The issue is (apart from the fact we're not doing well on the pitch) that when he's deciding what needs to be done, rather than just the raw execution imo (in most cases). As in, the videos, photos, all that isn't bad, but the designs and decisions (when do we/should we do the Zak Vyner clothes line) need someone at the club to push back.

Maybe he can't be bothered with any of it, but he's there because of his dad and they're just in a holding pattern waiting for that outside investment, who would likely change stuff up regardless.

    I honestly have no idea?

I don’t think Fever Pitch are an actual company. I think they are essentially a department within Bristol Sport, made to look like it’s our agency to make Jon feel better about himself.

I do wonder who is actually making this product, would it still be O’Neils?

It is part of Bristol sport.

Completely agree.  Who has actually came through the academy and either played a lot of games or been sold for good money?

    O’Leary

    Kelly

    Bryan

    Reid

    Vyner

Cant think of anyone else.  Is 5 a good return over the period of Tinnion’s involvement? Hard to say

I guess it depends whether you consider a player who doesn't make it at our level or with us but goes on to have a decent league career (Morell for example, or dare I say Wes Burns...) or not.

It's about the vision/purpose of the academy. Is it to ultimately earn money, or to create good quality football players... And the money is a nice extra? Why do you reckon the coaches and staff get out of bed in the morning? I doubt they really care about how much city might earn in 8 years time from the lads they work with.

With the Scott/Semenyo group we didn't get from 8 years old or whatever I think it's a balance. We still signed them (many others will have looked and passed on them) and developed them for a few years. They're not an A+ for the academy, but they deserve some kind of score surely?

If another team took them after we passed up we'd be saying why don't we have those contacts, why aren't we scouting and finding those players etc... We can't have it both ways.

Hang on. Hang on. Wasn't everyone sending a message about discontent or something when "no one" turned up to the Swansea game?

Ah so it's actually pricing that determines crowds, not whether or not we play front foot football.

    It can be both?

Those prices are no different to ours 😂

    Eh?

Our most expensive adult seat is £700, theirs is £519.

The most you'll pay at Stoke as an over 65 is £399. Here it's £545.

Our cheapest adult and theirs are only £20 different. So we have a similar starting price for adults, but then ours ramps up way more.

Their kids tickets are £23 in every stand. If I want my 4 year old to sit with me that'll cost me £155 next season or I have to move - and then it's still 3x the price.

Our under 22 are decent value in comparison to their U21 in fairness.

Oh... and as a Stoke fan, you'll have got 10 seasons of Premiership football in that time, along with 2 FA cup quarter finals, an FA cup final, 3 League Cup quarter finals, a League Cup semi final, AND Europa League football.

So what's the value for money there, really..?

  6. That's tackling the symptom, rather than the problem though right? I'd argue that so are parachute payments.

The problem isn't that there isn't enough money in the Championship / Championship teams aren't spending enough. The problem is that there's too much money in the Premiership. Limit them, and that'll reduce the chasm.

  7. I agree SL is a big problem and ideally would sell some or all of the club.

I also think him getting pissed off is the greatest chance of change at the senior levels in the shorter term (Tinnion and Manning). We're looking poor enough that I'm slightly concerned about next season, so I want that to happen - ideally before the summer.

I don't think those things are mutually exclusive. Hoping Steve steps in to avoid complete disaster isn't saying he's not part of the problem.

I am afraid the truth is simple, as many have said.  Manning clearly isn’t good enough.  He must go and go asap.  SL must just accept they made a mistake.  No shame in that.  Remember, SL, it is always the cover up that gets you in the end.

I think our best hope is that it's seen an a JL/BT mistake which SL then has to step in and sort out, like with Holden. Maybe he'll even get a little ego trip out of it, who knows.

    Logic says Tinnion.

6 more months roughly takes Manning to the first international break in September, approx 10 games into the season.

    Sack Tinnion now.

Then if we're struggling after 10 in 2024/25 at least there might be someone competent in place to guide the Lansdowns (if for just once they might consider taking guidance) to find a replacement manager.

If Manning goes now then it's the same three-headed beast appointing and then working with his successor.

I agree with you, I think, but that "might be" in your fourth sentence is doing some serious heavy lifting in your logic!

I don't know but I get the feeling when the wheels are really coming off Steve steps in and tries to sort it out. I guess you opted to ditch Manning that's your best shot of getting an ok outcome? I can't believe I'm saying that...

Like you said they deserve everything they get. They deserve relegation the way they’ve gone about things. Unfortunately we are along for the ride. I fear the next couple of season if SL doesn’t hurry up and sort out OUR club. Not much hope for that I’m afraid.

    I agree.

The really annoying thing is we avoided what was a pretty high chance of relegation with the screw ups in the last few years that Pearson sorted out. Now we've potentially brought one on  completely unnecessarily. Talk about pulling defeat from the jaws of victory. It's just beyond belief.

Funny how we weren't even in contention, but now we have appeared in the list of possibilities.

I'm gonna stick £100 on City at those odds.

We appear in the list of possibilities because suckers will then put £100 bets on, which is free money for the bookies. Not because we'll go down.

  12. Loads of managers and players have what seem like bizarre rituals they follow. In fact let's be honest, we all do.

We're shit at the moment but this is reaching a bit I think.

Forget self-sufficiency at this level. Or anything close.

It's a laudable aim but pointless as things are currently constituted.

WBA gave us 2k today despite a similar capacity. Birmingham give away sides 2k.

Sell some Naming Rights or something.

Sorry the advantage of a bit of extra cash in the grand scheme set against the advantage you can hand an away side is ridiculous.

I like the sentiment but we're losing games because we're total dog shit, not because there are 800 more away fans in the Atyeo

Bang on Harry. Footballers aren’t looking to input their opinion, they need to be shown and told what to do.

Emotion is what football is absolutely all about. I want to see anger, pain, frustration, pleasure and excitement. It’s what makes us feel connected and alive.

I couldn’t give a shit where we are in the table or in what league we are in. Just ******* CARE for ***** sake. That’s all we ask.

Remove emotion? **** off Manning .

I think there's definitely a time to get your players opinions and thoughts on your system. However, outside of the basics in case they've seen something you haven't, at half time when you have a very short period to come up with a plan, and communicate effectively so that it'll happen out in the pitch five minutes later with a reasonable sized group that isn't it. That needs clarity and direction.

  15. Until the goal it was sort of a 6/10 on the effectiveness scale, about a 3/10 on the entertainment one. Little harsh to be going in behind perhaps but we also didn't look much like scoring - Conway's slightly fortuitous chance aside.

Hopefully a bit of a change and some not back foot (I can't bring myself to say it properly...) football in the second half.
