Red Knowle
I'm aware if the other interpretations and you're right it's nothing new in that respect. But the cider aspect is unique so that's something different. I just think we should be encouraging atmosphere not condemning it. which is what all the rest do isnt it? Fiale
Must be the only one that doesn't like Cider. It's horrible stuff! Same here - whenever I drink it my mouth tries to shrink to a 1/3 of it's size whilst my throat tries to leap out of the condensed space.

Portland Bill
The only thing I don't like about the song is that it mentions the word Thatcher's. That word give me nightmares about a witch that tried her best to destroy mine and millions of others lives.
Red Ferret
A poor fit given Bristol's rich musical past of punk and trip hop to the embracing of the magnificent Wurzels. How do you expect fans to create a chant from trip-hop? It would be the moodiest chant ever! I like the Gold chant. Its pretty sparky

ralphindevon
It's the BBC. They can't mention brand names. Also, it's bad enough you can barely read the Blackthorn logo on the shirts, without Adam promoting a rival brand.
Jordan Tansley
You don't like cider Not even Cheddar Valley? Oh CV. I bloody love the drink and the song, it's catchy, fun and loud. "Always tastes better when cold"

Its pretty sparky Bristols that cool City that does it own thing chief. Here every club had a go on Goldie before Bristol City got there. Even the Scots and Welsh dabbled all over it. Alf
I'm glad I'm not the only person that thinks singing about alcohol is tragic, might be slightly less cringeworthy if it wasn't such a terrible song.

havanatopia
It's the BBC. They can't mention brand names. And that always puzzled me since they do put links to stories which go direct to a company/brand. Good ole Auntie... where would we be without her?.. a far poorer place that is for sure. cider head
Breaking news board meeting at Blackthorn to find out why those Bristol city fans won't sing songs about us? we are their sponsor after all (asks the chairman) ok says the MD i got it, something equally tedious and annoying and over used!! Whats that asks the chairman? MD: easy i give you gangnam style changed to BLACKTHORN STYLE Yes said the Chairman they will be fed up by the end of the season, ave' that Thatchers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60MQ3AG1c8o Point is don't over sing or over use, mix it up a bit as it will go the same way as the bounce and believe songs
cider head
Some please explain what trip hop is please Trip hop (or trip-hop) is a genre consisting of downtempo electronic music, originating in the early 1990s in the United Kingdom, especially Bristol. Deriving from "post"-acid house, the term was first used by the British music media and press as a way to describe the more experimental variant of breakbeat which contained influences of soul, funk and jazz. It has been described as "Europe's alternative choice in the second half of the '90s", and "a fusion of hip hop and electronica until neither genre is recognisable." Trip hop music fuses several styles and has much in common with other genres; it has several qualities similar to ambient music, its drum-based breakdowns share characteristics with hip hop, and it also contains elements of house, dance, R&B and dub reggae. Trip hop can be highly experimental in nature. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trip_hop

Cowshed
get over it it's just a bit of fun Not sure what there is to get over. It is a interesting topic perhaps to some. Talk of musical metaphors highlighting how culture and attitudes have changed are probably too deep. An easy observation to make was that if the Gas sung it mid-eightes it would have roused the whole ground into derision.
