Well the lad had ten minutes or so and again didn't score.

I was looking for the ' send him back ' threads and am pleasantly surprised that there aren't any .

I still feel he is trying too hard and needs to chill .

His first goal will be the start of many , mark my words .

Allez Lois !

He might have done better if someone had given him the ball?

Sorry Major, you have to remember the negative posters don't come on here when we do well.

Very silent tonight eh?

.....and with your wit and intellect Major I fully expected this thread title to be “Where’s the Diony is pony thread?”

I don’t think you can put those who recognise that Diony is shite and those who are sat there disappointed that we’ve won, in the same bracket..!

I love to give new players s good chance of showing their worth. Matt Smith, Kodjia, are a couple who got slaughtered by idiots before they’d had time to say hello.

How many times have I read on here and Twitter that Bobby Reid is a league 1 or2 player at best, sell him.

However, this guy hasn’t shown anything yet, I struggle to see him earning a contract. I agree, he is trying too hard and his confidence is completely shot after his time with St Étienne but sadly I don’t see him making it. As others have said, hope I’m wrong

Did ok, nothing bad. Made a few challenges, won a header and cleared a corner as well. One touch I think with his feet where he slipped and fell over.

Nothing bad? One horrendous touch drawing a collective groan from 20,000 people and two attempted challenges that if he'd made contact would have been cards.

Have tried to be optimistic but he looked poor, again

Hope he makes it of course. He would have had to hit the ground like an express train to make me feel he was worth the rumoured £9m however. That valuation is not his fault of course, but it does set expectations. In fairness to him today, we were playing with ten late on anyway?

As a supporter who likes to give a player time. He has to be the worst striker I’ve seen in a City shirt. Hope he turns it around. And proves me wrong. Sorry

He walks faster than Stern John ever ran, so he's not even close to the worst.

It's my opinion he was brought in because Duric is not ready to return.

Its low risk for City. A negotiated price has been agreed should we wish to take them up on the option to buy.

It's a 4 month trail and he has yet to impress. However not sure you can completely write him off yet.

New country and new club. Using that proper nice blokes catch  phrase ... These things take time.

There is more to come from him. I think he might only be guilty of trying to hard.

He must be training well and have the right attitude. LJ takes no prisoners with players.

They did, and his first touch was so bad I’m pretty sure it ballooned back to our own box from the halfway line.

Sadly think he will go down as an infamous cult hero. Looks so out of his depth it’s unreal.

it’s not happening for Diony and I can’t see things changing. For me he’ll be remembered along side some of our other loan striker signings of recent years.

Andrius Velička

Alvaro Saborio

Andy Keogh

Stefan Maierhofer

I'm sorry to raise the one black spot on an otherwise exemplary City performance, but Lois' 15 minute cameo was an embarrassment. The poor guy looked a mess and trapped the ball further than most of our players could pass it.

The only threat he posed was to City.

Perhaps a sports psychologist could make him play the notes in the right order.

For the people that were at the game it would be hard to defend Lois' stint. City put in a great performance, not their best this season, but strong, fluid and clinical. However, Diony was awful, that's a fact. I hope he improves because we all want to see The Bull succeed.

Bit harsh to include Velicka seeing as he had a season-ending injury 3 minutes into his debut!

I reckon if you stuck anyone of average fitness under the age of 40 on a football pitch they’d probably manage to win a header, clear a corner and fall over.

I’d be hoping for a bit more from a professional supposedly worth millions.

Interesting one for me was that in the warm up he deliberately kept pushing himself to the back of the shooting queue. Bobby ended up having 4 shots before Diony even had one. Confidence maybe but I think it is more serious than that - looks completely out of his depth. Weird behaviour at the end aswell with all the players celebrating with each other but Diony not looking like he wanted to be part of it.

Lets hope he can notch one sooner than later.

As we have seen and know many of the squad are not up to it.

To be fair apart from Reid and Smith no one in the side are good enough to take us all the way (according to some)

Shows how far we have come really. If Pissano stays fit, Baker gets back soon and most important O'Dowda returns to the squad, then we have a shot.

Sorry, but including our greatest keeper in recent history in Maierhofer with those lot is very harsh...

Its amazing, even after a 4-0 win the knives are out for someone.

Pathetic.

I was stuck in work today, so have no opinion on his cameo performance, but there are more than a few posters who aren’t hysterical, hang ‘em high types, who are expressing concern.  I would expect, a player with a price tag in the region of several lifetimes wages for the average fan, to make some impact, to show a sign or two of what led to that price tag.  I have read nothing, that suggests that is happening, it may well be that he shows well on the training pitch, there maybe videos of his previous exploits that led to him being taken on.

It’s more than possible that Lee or someone on the coaching staff sees something that many posters on here don’t.  I have nothing against the bloke, I hope he turns into a bargain and suddenly morphs into a 30 goal striker, but I fear, that there are enough posters on here who have an inkling about football and they may well be right.......

He really hasn't had enough game time or service to make a judgement yet. he did well at Angeres with two up front, but struggled at St Etienne when he was left on his own up front. It's clear that he doesn't like being the lone target man, so would work better with Fam.

Doesn't look like a £7m striker, but given time to settle, game time and decent service, you never know.

He does seem keen to impress to me and maybe it will take a goal or two to give him confidence.

So the OTIB court of instant judgement finds him guilty of being crap based on one “shocking touch”.?

This isn't a judgement of one touch. It's been all his involvement so far. He may come good - I hope he does cos he is clearly going to get game time. But early signs are very poor.

He’s not been great has he but to be fair yesterday was never going to do him many favours.

by the time he came on the game was a non-event that neither team could be arsed with - hence the fire drill I think.

In a two with Fam maybe but he’s not going to get that opportunity so we might never find out.

I want him to come good but you have to go back a long way to find a player that looks as poor as him.

I thought Saturday would be ideal for him. game already won, team playing some nice football, a free pass if you like. Yet somehow he pretty much still managed to look like the worst player on the pitch in a side that won 4-0.

I really want it to happen for him and he obviously desperately needs a goal, but in all honesty he looks like he could play every minute all season and not get close to scoring right now.

I’m normally the last person to be slating a new signing so quickly but I genuinely can’t think of any other word than ‘awful’ to describe everything he’s done in a red shirt!

We do see what he does on the training ground to justify being in the match day squad, he must be doing something right if he is keeping youth and Engervall Woodrow and co off the bench. The club had been tracking him for a year according to Mark Ashton.  Either he will come good or not be signed.

He has already, they started as our 2 forwards against Cardiff

We haven't got long though, we have a good partnership up front, every time he comes on it's a gamble that he might, one day, look something like a footballer. I don't think we are doing him or City any favours right now, he looks shot, and adds nothing. If LJ thinks he's worth a punt, and St E want to off load him, the given a break, and a pre-season, he may come good. But right now, Woodrow offers more, and once Taylor is fit, so will he. 11 games to go chasing a play off spot, not ideal for a striker of zero confidence.

he hasn't looked bad, but he has been brought on in games at the point, where as a team we've started to sit back and try (often failing) to defend a lead.

So his chances are obviously going to be limited and more of a lone striker trying to chase down nothing balls. Difficult to judge him on that basis.

However in the good position we were in at the time of the window, I can't help but think a proven championship striker would've been the way to go

rather than an unproven foreigner that takes so long to settle in.

After LJ transformed an average midfielder into a well above average striker, maybe Lois is going to be the next Keith Curle?

Terry Cooper started life as a winger before becoming a superb full back. TC then transformed Keith from an average winger into a full back that played for England. Maybe Lois Diony has shown enough to LJ to warrant a change of position? 9 million (if that is correct) for a full back is quite a price tag though.

Terry Cooper was a brand of wing back who could also defend .

He was a fantastic, classy player.

Joe Bryan is a similar type of player.

Here's my dilemma re Diony. There must be a very good player in there as St Etienne paid very big money (by our standards) for him but we haven't seen it, yet! I agree with an earlier poster that he appears to be trying too hard plus his 'dark place' tweet a couple of weeks ago suggest there's an issue with his confidence.

If he does show what St E saw to make him worth that money it benefits us and may see us do a deal in the summer but, on current form, he's miles away, admittedly.

My problem is that it's public knowledge that signing Diony would break our transfer record so we're talking £5.5M at least. If he does turn out to be a 'dud', haven't we alerted all clubs who have a player we like that we're prepared to spend big again this summer regardless of division?

Personally, I hope Lois does show the form that prompted his 'big' move but I have my doubts, if I'm honest, that we're going to see that player as his confidence is clearly shot to pieces.
