TV Tom
Unbelievable stats for Martin, by far the best goals per games/minutes record, it doesn’t say much for the other strikers in the division
petehinton
14 minutes ago, Boring Sag said: Truly curious what a lot of you think. Martin has now scored 15 in 20 starts (25 games played), a goal every 120 minutes. Meanwhile Clarke-Harris has only 6 goals in 14 starts (24 games played for Peterborough). Do people think that Rovers' huge oopsie moment at the end of the August window might have ended up being very favourable (Martin outperforming JCH and signing for free, wouldn't have happened if JCH had signed and saved iirc £750k), or do you think that it's a lot more complex than that (Martin performing well now but overall play iffy, 35 years old so we might rely on him next season and he might not perform, JCH's poor performances hugely impacted by having to stay and big confidence shot etc.) Think your last few lines sum it up. Hes 35. Good luck getting the same outlay out from him next season. No doubt he’s been a better signing for you than JCH ever would’ve been. What an incredible pro and career he’s had though. 35, best goals per minutes at a level as good as league one. Fair ******* play to him. His goals per game ratio this season is his best ever but it’s extremely unlikely to be repeated particularly due to his age. When he was at City he had no pace or mobility and, even allowing for the drop into League 1, it can’t have improved. Another year and he’ll be even slower

He just never had the engine for Championship football any more, plus I'm not sure we utilised him as well as we maybe should. VFM you'd see it as it as a good "buy" , but even if he stays another year you will probably have to get someone else in to rotate as at 36 it may be a step too far. How many players will you have to bring in next year? ( OOC & returning loans ) is it something like 14 to stay at the same size squad ? That may have some say in if he stays or goes, or other offers.

Good luck to him, he did Ok at City. Could he still get goals in the Championship? Well he got 4 from 16 games in a truly dire QPR team earlier this year so not out of the question but it would have to be from the subs bench.....
JBFC II
City women will be hosting Spurs on the 24th of March in the Super League, Rovers meanwhile are getting all excited about hosting Liskeard Athletic, with the chance of being promoted to the same level as the likes of Keynsham and Larkhall. Kodjias Wrist
Same shit they always say, “city spent loads and if we spent the same we would do better” well you don’t have a new 40 odd million pound stadium for one so hard to compare. Also do they forget how much the likes of Derby, Boro, Reading to name a few spent to NOT go up.

You would think they would, just had a little look though and still hundreds of tickets left. For a club who are apparently desperate to move to a bigger stadium, you'd think they'd sell out every now and then...

I like that they seem to have stopped saying about their great support , now they are keen on a bigger stand for away fans . Will soon be getting big crowd if they can offer half the ground to away fans.
1960maaan
Best thing that happened to them FFS , North Korea style mind control couldn't do better. Of course , you can't get rid of players and stay in a Division, you have to get relegated, it's the Law or something.

They might even get 10k every now and then...

They can easily claim they would "do better" with the same resources we have had. BUT because they have had crap crowds for 2-3 generations they don't have that kind of money. If their fans actually started turning up at home and selling out their little ground they might progress.

If their fans actually started turning up at home and selling out their little ground they might progress. In addition to that, they haven't seemed to realise another huge problem. The vast majority of kids who follow a Bristol based football club now follow City, and Rovers are doing very little to attract younger fans. If you were a dad without affinity to either side and wanted to take your ten year old to watch football this weekend it would be 2 pounds more to go to City in the family stand than to sit in Rovers' family stand. That's 2 pound more for a better quality product in better surroundings with better refreshments and an all round better experience. If you then decided to get a season ticket for next season and were unsure about which way to go it would cost £150 pounds more to get one in the Rovers family stand next season, and that's without a free shirt for your child. If they don't get their act together and realise their attendances are only going to drop over the next decade they'll slowly die, a new stadium won't help with that.

Awful. And that's coming from someone used to low quality football.
