If it’s his ACL I would expect us to dip into the free market to sign someone short term until the end of the season, similar to Klose last year. Alternatively we will drop back into a 5.

Really unlucky. Today  Kalas did well but Rob will be missed, in both areas.

I guess Nigel will use King or Tanner (with Wilson back soon) as reserve CB, looking at free agents only in case of further injuries.

The good think about Tomas is that he’s played the majority of his international football at LCB.  It’s very different to someone like Zak going over to the right and having to get used to different angles, positioning etc.  TK knows the position.

We even saw today how TK didn’t get into a position where he was being pressed onto his weaker side in possession.  He receives side on, doesn’t let the ball run across him (very often), so he’s always got the whole pitch in view.

Hope it’s not as bad as an ACL for Rob.  How many times do ACL’s happen so innocuously?

Honestly I'm gutted for him just hoping it isn't ACL and a massive game coming up he's going to miss. Getting back fighting fit big man!!

Doubt it. First ACL was very late pre-season, and he was due back around January. Likely closer to 5/6 months than 9-12.

Yep, you’re correct. Either way, was originally expected back by Christmas. So around 6/7 months.

Worth clarifying that - assuming the same interview - NP said “it may be” in response to a direct question as to whether it was an ACL, rather than he himself saying that is what he thought it was.

I may be clinging to false hope with that though.

Ayman? No. After 2 consecutive ACLs why bother, he could take a fair while to get back in.

Terrible bad luck for Rob, just when he was playing well.

We’ve got TK as an obvious replacement and both Tanner and Pring can play there if necessary, with Naismith to come back, hopefully in the not too distant future.

Or another Mariappa/Klose free agent might be the best option. 

Recall of Low is not possible as we cannot re-register him until next window.

To be honest . After watching it & he didn’t get up I feared the worst . It’s how acl’s seem to happen . It’s a simple hyperextension that does it

What was very clear to me was the medical team took very little time to conclude he could not continue and for Kalas to start to prepare. ACL or not, it was certainly one where the potential severity was immediately apparent.

Hopefully no free agents.  We aren’t going down so utilise the squad instead of wasting money on a player short term.  We should always be thinking longer term if we can and right now, we can
