The very definition of "arm in an unnatural position".

The sort of photo they used every week in the Evening Post's Spot the Ball.

You could place hundreds of crosses on there and still not mark the centre of the ball! ?

You had to draw lines from the centre of the players  pupils and where they crossed the ball was about 3 inches to the right or left for some totally illogical reason. No wonder we spent so long in the third division we were constantly kicking/heading imaginary balls.

Here are the flats...

Can def remember sitting on those benches around the inside a few times, (could even be on them in the pic) looks like Dickie Rooks, Gordon Parr and maybe " A Briggs?" behind Toshes leg

Not sure if this has been posted on the forum before, but I saw this great photo on FB, taken from the flats before the Dolman was built. My great grandmother used to live in the flats and my dad said he remembered his uncles watching games from their balcony (but my dad claimed he always went in the ground to watch).

I used to love those floodlights.

Mods - any chance there could be a separate section for people to post old pics like this? There are threads with them every now and then and it would be good if they were all in one place. I find them fascinating.

You had more chance by putting on a blindfold and sticking a pin in than you did by drawing lines anywhere!

There is a good book with loads of photos of the Gate through the years, out of print now I believe.
With all the other ones, these photos always make me stop for a second look.

I reckon the rotor arm of the car in the second pic might have needed some work afterwards. ;)

Didn't Chris Garland grow up in those flats?

Slightly worryingly, I can recall that day.

The River Trym actually went over the top of Falcondale Road, by the garage, with a raging current about 50 metres in width!

Does really make you feel like an old fossil having been around at the time those antique car design were in vogue. Jesz.
