Has anyone mentioned John Shaw?

We could have a whole new list of Leeds (either transferred from them/to them or played for them at some point - quite a broad criteria admittedly, but feel as if we’ve had more Leeds connections than we have with most other teams?): Shaw, Gavin, Rennie, Jordan, Hunter, Shutt, Taylor, Cooper, Baird, Ayling etc.

Definitely, you can add Jimmy Mann (what a player), Mark Aizlewood, Lee Matthews, Terry Connor & Ronnie Sinclair to that list, too.

Only Shutt & Ayling joined them from us, vast majority made the reverse journey.

Mann at the same time as John Shaw and one other who's name escapes me. Alan Hay was another Scottish player we had who was quite good.

The story according to Les Bardsley who was treating my mum at the time, was that the 3 Leeds players came as a sweetener for a deal to take Gerry Gow to Leeds to replace an ageing Bremner. The deal never went through because Revie went to Manage England and then ****** off to the Middle East.

Enoch Showunmi joined Leeds from us, albeit with a loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday in between.

Plus Tommy Burden who left Leeds as their captain, in Second Division, and came to us in 1954 in Third Division South which we topped at end of that season. Burden came here because he had a decent job at Clarks Shoes in Street. He stayed with City until 1963. One of the best midfield players that I've seen at City - real quality.
