This was the team that earned us entry to the Football League - although he was released that summer. We shall draw a veil over him joining the Blue Few in Oct 1901 as it was only for 7 games! Deciding he'd had quite enough of that lot, he then retired - though it did make him only the 2nd ever player to play for both City and Rovers. He'd played, and scored, in the 1892 FA Cup Final for his hometown club West Brom and won the Southern League with both West Brom and Millwall. 20 goals from 70 games for West Brom 1891-94. 40 odd goals for Millwall from 100 odd games in 2 spells between 1894 and 1899. Top man. Move over Dave M. Woods, we got Marvellous Merrick's. You want to write summat for that new fans-programme-thingy, you got something there, Merr Quote Link to comment

There’s plenty of scope for improvement with him. Already I've seen signs he has changed his game. Last year he didn't go outside his FB, this year he looks like thats his first thought . That means cutting in on his stronger foot is much more dangerous. I swear Sam Bell got the nod because he was happy to go outside his man, makes the FB think. So far this year his first move is towards the touchline , the change is obvious and long may it continue. Quote Link to comment

Top man. We don’t talk about the ‘Blue Few’ part in our family Yeah, that FA Cup Final goal was the fastest cup final goal for many years, think it was after 3 minutes. As well as the Millwall hall of fame I think he’s in a Baggies one also. Cheers 2 Quote Link to comment

Jose
I doubt you’ll get that feeling again this season. What a moment and what a goal. Defensively we were faultless. Not just the back four but the midfield 3 were brilliant. Vyner ( was a big critic) looks like he has confidence oozing through him helped by Dickie who looks a class act. We moved the ball around lovely at times but I do feel we are still missing that spark in the final third. Hopefully that comes with time. What a day! 3 1 Quote Link to comment

bcfcredandwhite
Great win with a superbly taken goal (those are very hard to hit right), against a different opponent. Special call-out to Max too for that double save. Well done Nige and the boys Quote Link to comment

Bazooka Joe
The exuberance from those on our bench, when Matty scored, was good to see. It exemplifies the spirit and unity of purpose within our camp. The players celebrated just as wildly as our brilliant. large and noisy band of travelling supporters. Haven't seen that in a long while. At long last, a stronger bond is developing between fans and players and is becoming more palpable. This will serve us well. 13 Quote Link to comment

Absolutely brilliant day yesterday and as you say @Bazooka Joe, to then see the response on the bench was amazing to see - the management team and squad are all in it together ….. long may it continue Quote Link to comment
Garland-sweden
Very nice win yesterday! Think many games will be like yesterday. Good defence and some luck. Their wrong freekick that Cornick saved was important, moments later we score. Think we were little better but we could have lost, small margins. 1 Quote Link to comment

1960maaan
Thought I might as well stick this here. Nige wanted legs and to be able to press and win the ball back quickly. Good stat to say we were successful Saturday. 9 Quote Link to comment
