Midlands Robin
Nice and tidy at the back. Looking great in the middle, especially on the counter but oh for the love of our Lord Adge Cutler we lack quality in and around the box. Almost every pass before the final shot has been too far ahead or behind, hit too hard or too short. It's leaving too much to do. We've got to keep at it in the second half and not let up. Apart from the frustration around the box it's great to watch though. 1 Quote Link to comment
mozo
How's about a switch to a back 3 now just to spice things up...? 12 Quote Link to comment
RollsRoyce
That was decent enjoyment, we moved into attack much faster than we have been doing. The final pass quality was not there, but we created them some problems and stopped their game. All to play for. 1 Quote Link to comment

And Its Smith
Very good half. Every player seems on it to me. Not perfect final third but a continued improvement. Subs will prove key. I think both wingers and Conway will be switched on the hour or so. 1 Quote Link to comment
Wanderingred
That was a decent watch. Fully expect Southampton to turn the screw more in the second half, but if we keep them out and get a point, that would be a decent enough evenings work. 1 Quote Link to comment

RedRock
Decent. Our passing quality, movement, strength in the tackle and team shape/positioning has improved beyond recognition over the last few weeks. Buying into this, even if - at the moment - it isn’t the most scintillating entertainment. Just need a bit more quality in the final third. 1 Quote Link to comment
redkev
Important we keep our shape when there just knocking it about at the back , as soon as someone jumps ship they will be in , game needs to stay as it is for us to get anything from this , if it opens up they will be in Quote Link to comment
RoystonFoote'snephew
Playing well but again so frustrating with our final cross/ball and we haven't scored. I fear for a St Mary's repeat. The Southampton keepers position is interesting as Bazuna plays further up the pitch than Grobelaar used to. If Max played that high up the pitch I'd be having kittens. Quote Link to comment
Banjo Island
Really enjoyed that keep it up second half and hopefully we can win this Quote Link to comment
mozo
In the context of who we're playing, I really enjoyed that. A very even half. We've been so disciplined without the ball, and often creative and positive with the ball. Quote Link to comment
transfer reader
Sykes on for Mehmeti at about 60-65 minutes. Think he's got more game intelligence to make the most of the types of chances we're getting 3 Quote Link to comment
Portland Bill
City look far the better side, going forward time and time again. Simply zero thought or composure going into the final ball though. I honestly cannot remember City ever wasting so many opportunities of finding players in the box. Sam Bell really needs a lesson in relaxing on the ball. 1 Quote Link to comment

They were commenting on how Southampton's style can quieten down grounds when they are away, and you can see that, the way they just stand with the ball in defence and try to draw teams onto them Edited February 13 by richwwtk 1 Quote Link to comment

Tim Monaghan
Really good first half. If only we had someone who could finish / cross a ball. 2 Quote Link to comment

There will definitely be some spells of intense pressure in the second half, but the great thing about this game is you could easily see one of our breakaways leading to a goal. Quote Link to comment
George Rs
Halves like that are what makes me think we are right on the brink of becoming a very good side. Positioning, passing and decison making letting us down in the final third. But very positive overall, brilliant discipline and structure. Pressed well when needed and got bodies forward when on the break. Thought those two blocks by Vyner when Armstrong was slipped through were stellar as well. COYR 5 Quote Link to comment

Out of his pie crust
Nice bit of variation on the move down the left right at the end after 10 attacks of predictable movement. More of that please Quote Link to comment
Midlands Robin
These stats tell a story. Successful Crosses by City 2/10 Crosses blocked by the Saints defence 0 1 1 Quote Link to comment

transfer reader
Max Bird, 2 goals and an assist in 2.5 games since signing for us. Manning has improved him already Edited February 13 by transfer reader 1 4 Quote Link to comment
ralphindevon
Would be such a confidence boost to get the first goal. When they went ahead at St Mary’s they saw the game out comfortably. Exciting half ahead. Quote Link to comment
