I spoke too soon, Henbury has turned up that thread and is displaying his ignorance for all to see.

He says this Saturday he'll be watching the best team in League 1 ........he must be off to Wigan then

  2. Wally must be posting on asschat now! Pass around the begging bowl

A message to the Fan's directors. Could it be feasible to have a means of donating to a fund so that Supporters may have a specific goal of assisting the re-development of the Mem. Those of us who live away from Bristol or who are just not able to attend games may wish to donate.

Older Supporters may well remember the times when a large bin was carried around The Greyhound track so that the crowd could throw coins into. I don't remember who benefitted from this money and I don't propose the same method should be employed today, however, Electronic deposit terminals could be installed at convenient locations around the ground to accept cash and this could be linked to a running total display for all to see. Regular or variable donations could be carried out from individual 's bank accounts at any time. The fund would have to be protected to ensure it served its purpose

"Out of respect for the local community, we will not begin work until official approval has been granted"

Well that's bloody decent of them! Nothing to do with it being the law..?!

They would like to ring fence the agreement. . . .but they'll need to pay for the fence first

Rovers have been allocated the whole stadium for their visit to Bury.

So as to embrace the local customs, respectful bunch that they are, around 95% of them will wear Bury replica shirts and/or partake in popular Bury related chants during the game.

It's definitely true, just watch the highlights on TV and you'll see them.

Disclaimer: In the event of any trouble, there will have been a proportion of 'Teds who infiltrated the crowd. It's never them, ever!

    Fixed that for you!

The new Poles are a couple of centre backs signed from Slupsk for 15,000 Zloty

To be fair to Harleyhas this a fair post rather than a "cracker"? I sense a lot of genuine Gashead feel the same following the news the UWE was dead, the real danger is we become the Port Vale to your Stoke, I think most genuine Bristolian football fans would sooner a bit of rivalry than one totally dominant club like is now the case in the Potteries.

I see Bristol football as more like Nottingham than Stoke. One underachieving Championship club, the other a League One/League Two yo-yo club

I think this is a bigger thing than some realise.

We're only played each other competitively eight times since 99/00.  Only four of those games were in the league, and the last occurance of that was April 2001.

So that is 15+ years since we were at the same level, and despite both teams best attempts last year, that'll likely extend to nearly 18 even if Rovers go up or we go down.

There obviously is no statute of limitations on a rivalry, but with us playing the likes of Cardiff on a far more regular basis (and those being league games too), I suspect you'll end up with a generation who think of Bristol derbies as more of a mythic thing than something real.

6130 days to be exact! On October 28th it will be 17 years since they blue few were higher in the league :gasmask:

The following from gaschat is another winner. "They aren't billionaires because they found their money down the back of the sofa". I will correct this for them "they aren't billionaires and all they found was 20p down their sofa which will now be our rebuild fund".

I may be talking out of turn here but I am certain that the Al Quadi family will have studied, planned and sorted out all the possibilities of how the Mem will be developed. They will also know how they will get the best financial return from the new stadium. They aren't billionaires because they found their money down the back of the sofa! Maybe they are keeping their plans close to their chest because it is all part of the big bluff to UWE. I genuinely believe that UWE thought they were dealing with gullible, rich foreigners who UWE would be able to pull the wool over their eyes and basically rip them off. Maybe now they are in a state of panic and Wael announcing alternative plans is just a ruse to make UWE think they are about to miss out on a fantastic opportunity to have A1 facilities on their campsite. With no new stadium they are left with nothing. Yes, maybe they could put houses on the land and make some money that way but that is short sighted and in the long run will not benefit the campus. Build a state of the art stadium with loads of facilities for their students to use for many years is a far better option. I may be wrong but I am not 100% sure that the UWE stadium is dead in the water....yet! The family have been damned good to us and haven't let us down yet and I don't see why they would in the future. Let's be patient and see what happens. In the mean time I am going to carry on with a far more important task and that is to support the Gas no matter where they play.COYB FTG

Why is he signing off with '**** the Gas' ?

I seem to remember that they were going to get the students who were living in the accommodation to sign a bit of paper promising that they would not own a car! The fact they never said how it was going to be enforced shows it was more to do with handshakes in high places. Not sure if Wally has greased enough palms yet?

    He hasn't got enough grease

Can anyone see Wally stumping up say 30+ million (at a low guess), if, as believed he hasn't got the funds, who exactly will want to invest in it?? If true that he was after investors for a decent new UWE stadium and he couldn't get it, what chance does he have for the Mem?

Ask Daddy for some more pocket money?

It's easy to under/over estimate an attendance by 10/20% but to try and claim there are 50% more than there actually are, is a skill that only the most deluded fan base can master.

I remember when Colin Howlett would regularly overestimate the number of gas at an away match

"Oh, there must be nearly 2,000 R*vers fans here"

When the actual figure was nearer 500
