  1. I e been at QPR today so haven’t been on here but that was fun reading through the semi final posts .
i did manage to watch or listen to nearly all of our matches, incredible semi, to be honest I never expected us to get out of our group, to win our quarter final or semi final, so yet another bridesmaid moment doesn’t feel too bad this time.

How many runners up’s have we had this century so far!

Exactly.  I’ve no idea how good it bad he’s gonna be but I like the theory of top club junior, goes down the leagues, wants to make it back up the ladder.  I call it the Kieran Trippier model….who I saw at Burnley, on loan initially from Man City, then moving permanently there….wanting to play to show he could get back up to that level.

If George is of that ilk, it bodes well.

I was more than happy with him today.

It uses an algorithm, I wouldn’t lay too much stock in it.  Weimann (is he flappy?) got two assists and that weights his scores massively.

I watched on Robinstv so cannot comment on comms between Tanner and Kalas, but I thought Kalas’s positional play in terms of supporting Tanner wasn’t great…but I can rarely fault his commitment to the cause in other aspects.

Yes, I’m loathe to criticising Kalas because he’s immense at putting his head and body on the line. I just remember other debuts, in defence especially and there’s always a Carey, Taylor figure next to them making life easier.

One thing about watching football at the subbuteo type stadium that is Loftus rd is you get a birds eye view of the defence at that end.

The one thing I kept thinking was the lack of communication Tanner seemed to be getting from his fellow defenders. For me Kalas should have been in his ear with encouragement and advice all game but I only saw it once or twice. A lot of the times he looked a bit lost and looking for instructions.

It doesn’t seem to be Kalas’ way, perhaps that’s why he isn’t captain anymore

Having said that I thought he did ok and looks a good prospect

Yes, if it hadn;t been for ****** covid ,we could have won the Championship with THAT record !

That’s exactly why we didn’t want to win it this year, it’ll always be a season with an * next to it. Meaning there’ll always be someone like Glos fans saying you only won it because of Covid.

Oh, that and the fact we’re in the worse form of the last decade.

Was he fouled before the goal? I didn’t see it from where I was sitting but listening to the playback of Radio Bristol’s commentary on the drive home, the commentator implied he was.

I don’t think so, the Luton player just got his foot on the ball and flicked it against Bentley, it bounced clear for the other guy to cross. Should have been launched I to row z by one of them

Glad there is no relegation in this division ?

Our bowling unit looks desperately weak

Wow, I can’t remember a weaker looking bowling attack. Hopefully they’ll surprise us.
Ive been meaning to ask because I wasn’t around for the Notts game, why didn’t RVDM bowl? I thought with him and Leach and a spin friendly wicket we’d have a chance but none of it happened

  8. I think it’ll be worth bumping this thread on a regular basis, for those that haven’t caught up with it yet, those entering their final years of work and those who’ve done it and can offer advice and share experiences.

If anyone’s considering taking up Norn Iron’s offer of a pensions advisor recommendation, do it. One thing I have found out is a good advisor is well worth the money.

Probably hardest draw, Hants have won last 5 games I think.

We beat them at Taunton but got stuffed at Southampton, 100 all out. All be it with a very different side that will play in the semi final.
I booked my train early to QPR away, thinking we had no chance of finals day

Has anyone any idea of the future set up of the  cricket seasons now?

The idea that they cram a load of county games into April and May followed by a few weeks break for one day games then back to county cricket then 6 weeks off to cram the 100 plus Royal London plus T20 and finally back to county games in September is just crazy. Have they used the experience of last year to extend the season.

I know that years ago we'd have 3 rather than 4 day games plus 3 other limited over competitions but they all seemed to slot in together with maybe the odd week off for the limited over games but the overall season seemed to flow a lot better.

I think it’s all still to be decided this winter.
I have a feeling there will be a 100 franchise team in the south west after all the stick they’ve had for ignoring us this season, which will be annoying.

But besides that probably similar to this season, though could be some tweaking with the championship, we’ve still to see how this season plays out yet.

There is something very special happening at Somerset right now. The next few years are going to be good ones I think.

And what an absolute cracking night in front of a full house.

To think we’ve not had any cricket for weeks at Taunton this summer holiday is just criminal

Tom Abell. Proper cricketer. Did he give them a chance?

He’s already taken over from Hildreth as the best batsman not to have played for England.

Been unlucky with injuries just at the wrong time plus he often hits form just as the crap schedule offers no cricket.

    Classy player

On holiday in Devon, should I take the opportunity to watch Exeter play Rovers tomorrow?

I think I might go, still trying to catch up on all the lost live football so it’s either Torquay or Exeter.
I think it’ll be Exeter especially now Owura Edwards has gone on loan there.

  14. Anyone can ask their current employer if they can go part time. Instead of retiring and then looking for a part time job, just do less with your current job.

Ive just done it to see how it goes, I’m 10 years from getting my pension but mortgage and debt free so working 3 days a week feels like a good work- leisure ballance.
So far so good but already I’m thinking in the winter I’ll be pleased to have those 3 days at work, not just financially but to keep busy when the golf course is closed and it’s too cold, wet and rough for kayaking or fishing
