Couldn’t get out of a pre arranged trip to see friend’s in northern France so having to watch on my tablet.
Didnt see the first game to judge the wicket but it looks once again like we’ve turned up on finals day a very different team to the one that got us there.
We can still win it as it didn’t look easy batting but it feels like we’re quite a few short.

Shorter than 20 ?
I know, mad as it seems it possible we have 3 x 5 over per side games.
Proper cricket, none of this waiting around for 5 days just to see a draw……

A real and very local hero, an inspiration to all those from our corner of Bristol that it’s possible to play and star in that big stadium.
Such a shame his poor health in recent years prevented him being part of the former players association at Ashton Gate. We all would have loved to have seen him around with the other guys.
RIP

Shame we couldn’t get over the line but a great effort from a team with a few big guns rested.

Yes but they will try and get it finished on the day with shortened games first.

Abbott gets a hearty round of applause as he gets to 12.....he has only just finished his last innings on 89 not out. So an almost uninterrupted hundred not out.
Unfortunately for him it won't say that in the books.

Just saw Leachy walking around the ground at a fair pace and looking fit and ready to go. Good to see.

So the top 5 batsmen scored 57 between them.
The bottom 6 scored 421. That’s very Somerset even by Somerset’s standard

Almost 3 months since I used my points on a pair of shorts and a bottle opener, it’s been so long I can’t really remember what it was, but still nothing.
I did have a couple emails back in late May saying there was a delay but now they just ignore my emails. And I have been polite.
It’s more the principal now, the fact they’ve implemented such a half thought out scheme and the fact they now completely ignore me.

Anyone know when the fixtures are out ?
I think I read it’s by the end of this week but not sure exactly

James Rew is the real deal isn`t he? An England call up in a year or two perhaps?
Yes without a doubt. We’ll soon be losing him regularly to England Lions and the like then as you say a full cap, probably on one of the less attractive tours to start with, will soon follow.

Great fight back from the very consistent Rew and the in form (with bat more than ball) Aldridge.
Every run counts as I can’t see our very weakened attack taking 20 cheap wickets

Can we recruit Abbott for next season, at least he wouldn't be taking all our wickets like he normally does!
Even the damned run out was Abbott, which I haven’t seen yet but to lose our in form batter after 2 balls like that was hugely disappointing

Tom Abell is really starting to frustrate me now.
With his talent he should have scored shed losds more runs than he has. He's one of my favourite players too.
He's due a big one, 2nd innings maybe.... or Saturday

That’s the sort of thing selfless thing Mark Ashton would of done when he was here
Deffo, but....... he would have had an army of photographers with him and not done any lifting.

Back to 4 day cricket tomorrow and Somerset are taking the T20 very seriously and have rested a few players, notably Overton, Gregory TKC and Henry.
The forecast doesn’t look good, I’m due to go on Wednesday so that’ll probably be the worst day.
The starting XI will be named from the following squad: Tom Abell, Sean Dickson, Tom Lammonby, George Bartlett, Andy Umeed, James Rew, Ben Green, Lewis Goldsworthy, Kasey Aldridge, Shoaib Bashir, Jack Brooks and Alfie Ogborne

Did Carey drop the Ashes??
I don’t want to let him off but I think we’d have crept over the line still

If you want to know what an amazing Series this has been just look at this thread.
Loads of- it’s all over- that’s the Ashes gone type posts, and I’m not having a go at anyone here because I’ve not disagreed, but we’ve ended up winning!!
And similar in the previous tests, both of which we could have won.
Test cricket is the boss and the Ashes rarely fail to deliver.

Yet ANOTHER quite brilliant test.
Game on!

Is this sarcasm? How can you not be enjoying this chase?
I’d rather watch Rovers reserves than the hundred.
This is sport at its very best.

Test cricket is absolute garbage, thank goodness they’ve got rid of it in August and we can all enjoy the hundred instead!

That was inevitable the way this series has gone. Could really have done without it though. The Aussie bowlers have looked really jaded this afternoon and that’s given them a late lift

Now we’re in a bit of bother.
Jonny is not having a good series
