  1. Sounds like this one may be over the line then... Good work City
  2. I'm pretty sure both the Man Utd and Man City games made general sale last time. If you have a membership you don't have to panic imo.
  3. Looks potential tie of the round for me. Bound to be on BBC One or ITV1 I'd have thought. Buzzing.
  4. Getting ridiculous now. If they miss out on Champions League football for a year or two, as is looking likely, they will surely be in big trouble. Would be a British record transfer fee...
  5. I put the blame more with the club than Massengo on this one. Fact is, we're the ones that dished out a big transfer fee (£2.7m) and lavish wages for a player that ultimately hasn't lived up to that kind of financial commitment. We're the ones that couldn't really find a definitive position for HNM in the starting 11. It's been my understanding that the player/player's reps have made it clear for a long time (more than a year ago) that he wouldn't be signing a new deal. Problem was, because of what we paid for HNM in fees and wages, it was very unlikely any club interested was going to be able to afford the fees and wages required to take him off us. Until now of course, when Auxerre (promoted last season from Ligue 2) can probably just about afford him and take the chance he may help them to stay up. Most of us were delighted to see the club take this kind of calculated risk when we signed HNM. But signing young players from abroad is high risk unless they are exceptional talents. This gamble just didn't quite work out. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
  6. You are correct on Wael being a simple soul and not great with money. That's why he does not have any personal fortune invested in Rovers. This is all still family money which is being spent on the club. It's the brother that controls the purse strings (Hani?) The word is that Hani has had enough of the money being spent on Rovers, hence the search for other investment / club technically being for sale.
  7. Sounds like you were near me. There were five or six in total around me. They were students at a guess. Always seems to be a decent turnout of students for cup games, I'm guessing due to the cheaper pricing.
  8. So last time we were in an FA Cup QF Kevin Keegan and John Toshack were playing up front for Liverpool, with the latter scoring the winner.
  9. Even this doesn't really do his performance full justice. He also made a couple of key interventions in our box. Reminds me of Bellingham in that regard; he's always in the key areas of the pitch when he needs to be. Like all top sportspeople he makes the game look easy too. Always looks like he has got more time on the ball than anyone else. He alone makes me want to attend as many games as I can between now and the end of the season, as we have to accept there is little to no chance he'll be a City player come August.
  10. The red judge had Yarde 5-2 up when the stoppage came ?
  11. Boxing really doesn't help itself sometimes. Quite a lot of the time in fact
  12. A complete box to box performance. There is surely absolutely no way he is still with us next season. That was a decent in-form WBA team that'd won 10 of their last 13 games, and he completely ran the show. Playing like that it would not surprise me if he does get his dream move to Spurs.
  13. The Wolves game on a Sunday a few years back. Not been in the QFs since 1974
  14. I was sat near Mickey in the Lansdown and can confirm that his face was a picture of pure joy when Sam scored his first and ran over to his Dad to celebrate. I think I may even have seen a tear or two...
  15. All eyes on whether he's in the Luton squad tomorrow for their cup game against Grimsby
  16. Of course the deal is done. People seem to have forgotten about Fabrizio Romano's tweet from last night.
  17. People say fans are more impatient these days due to social media etc. But worth recalling in '98 the atmosphere at the club was so bad that by the end of Sept the players were coming out with messages to the fans on t-shirts to try and get us back onside! This pic from the 5-2 win over Crewe.
  18. Anyone else remember "AKINBIYI PLEASE STAY" painted on one of the rock faces on Avon Gorge? Worth remembering £1.2m was a lot of money back then. We spent a few mill that summer, whereas Watford who came up with us spent about £300k. Watford were promoted straight up to the Premier League. We finished bottom of the league. Classic Bristol City
  19. Boro are rumoured to be paying £1.5m to Rotherham for Barlaser. He's a similar age to Cornick and also with only six months left on his current deal. So £300k for Cornick seems decent, compared to that deal.
  20. What's the hype with Lamouchi? His record looks bang average and most recently he's been managing in Qatar. Forest fans seem to love him but his record there just looks average.
