  1. FFS. Better head down the ground now then...
  2. When was the last time we put in a decent performance in a cup competition at home? All I've got is Lincoln and Shrewsbury in my head, which were both beyond dreadful.
  3. I speak a little. Because it's such an old language (older than English) some of the literal translations are hilarious. The welsh word for badger literally translates as "earth pig", ladybird is "little red cow" and my favourite is hamster which translates as "fat cheeks"!
  4. Watched the whole match on S4C. I'd say that's one of the most entertaining cup matches I have seen in years. Cov missed a bucketload of chances, Palmer with a particularly shocking miss from close range. Cracking free kick though, and he hit the post with one in the first half too. Gyokeres really is some player.
  5. Fair enough, I don't take much interest. But was told wage budget is top 10. Big year for the fruit market too, if you don't sign up to the stadium project in the coming months then the opportunity will be gone.
  6. Their wage bill is also comfortably top half of the table too. The owners have loosened the purse strings for Barton. They're doing roughly as they should be given wage bill. They're not quite the plucky underdogs that Barton and their weirdo fans like to make out.
  7. Yes, previous page. Same. Service was excellent too. Our front of house was also a chef there which is helpful for questions about the food and pairing drinks.
  8. "Only get a couple of thousand"?! That's big support for that level of rugby! I remember seeing a lad I know from Redruth at a Bears game at AG a couple of years back. I asked him if he supported Cornish Pirates to which he responded "no chance, I'm from Redruth; they're Penzance!"
  9. Reality is you'll see this a lot with local lads who have friends and family on here and social media. Best to take what is said by obvious supporters of these players with a pinch of salt, but they only want what they think is right for their mate/relative.
  10. 100% a Mark Ashton "agent-led" signing. LJ did not want him at all.
  11. Shouldn't be behind the likes of Cardiff, Hull, Swansea and QPR imo. Granted QPR have had a better season, they aren't a well supported club.
  12. I stuck up for our home support the other day. But have to be even-handed, and obvious excuses aside, those away numbers are not good. I wonder if it's as simple as our home attendance has increased so much over the past few years that people just choose to do more home games than away.
  13. Agreed. Looking back not sure Skuse would have improved us but may have been a decent squad addition. He'd even purchased a new house in Almondsbury (not his old one there) in expectation he'd be returning. One thing that did puzzle me slightly is that I always thought there was no love lost between Skuse and the Johnsons. He certainly wasn't a fan of GJ, for obvious reasons.
  14. Yep. 20+ years into his stewardship of the club and Steve STILL interfering with footballing matters. He'll never learn sadly.
  15. There's blame to go around everywhere, of course LJ included. But it is true to say some signings were just not his. Engvall, Szmodics and Adelakun to name a few.
  16. Have a feeling Martin has been offered a contract on a player/coach kinda wage i.e. very low.
  17. Still could happen, but if nothing is agreed this year then it probably won't. As ever the problem with Rovers is commitment to spending their own money to get something done. Sale of their main asset (the Mem) alone won't be enough to finance a land deal and new stadium. They've been quite unlucky too with this recession hitting and construction costs dramatically increasing. Not many land deals are being done, period. So I can understand their reluctance. Never mind!
  18. Can't believe Blue Ginger is on there. Went in the summer and it was bang average.
  19. Same as it ever was... When the football is decent and we're winning the atmosphere is good. When the football is crap and we're not winning the atmosphere is poor. I don't know why we beat ourselves up over it. It's the same at pretty much every club in the country.
  20. Used to love Cafe Sazz back in the day. Their breakfasts were the best hangover cure on North St, and the mezze platters and baklava great too.
  21. Marler called Heenans mother a whore. For me the main thing though is Marler's lack of contrition when being exposed, and told by Heenan that his mother was in hospital due to cancer. I see no apology from Marler, in fact he is asked by the ref to cut it out and he says "its fine". Supposed mental health advocate is Marler, mind.
