  1. Yeah, I've got no issue with a band changing their style and sound, if done effectively. Plenty of bands have done this over the years to great effect. This sound just does not suit the band at all, and I'm afraid I just can't take Alex Turner seriously as a frontman anymore with this crooner style. I've tried getting into the last couple of albums but don't feel engaged. I'm surprised they're persisting with it, as it's been a commercial disaster for them in terms of album sales. AM sold about 2.7 million copies, the last album 100,000. I assume they make most money from concerts these days, but still, it clearly hasn't proved to be a popular change of direction with fans.
  2. What time for Bivol? Or have I missed it
  3. We were doing alright up to 45mins. Delete thread ?
  4. Pat blaming the ref. Getting a bit predictable now. Some punishment for Saracens mind. Looks like they'll win the league at a canter again this season. At least their try scorer will be with us next season.
  5. Makes it all the more frustrating that we didn't take advantage of catching them on an off-day I'm afraid.
  6. Starting today. Should have a bit more spice and meaning than usual given we're only 10 months away from the World Cup in France. From a Welsh perspective it's been an up and down couple of years. Seconds away from a Slam in 2021. Then this year's shambles culminating in a loss at home to Italy, followed by an encouraging tour to South Africa this summer. No Dan Biggar but Tipuric, Halfpenny and Ken Owens back which is a boost. One thing we won't be lacking is pace with Rees-Zammit and Rio Dyer. The latter a 22 year old from Newport who's one to watch. Very interested to see how the Irish get on against SA and France against Australia later.
  7. Yeah could be. Given we've always assumed Exeter are one of the most competently run teams in the Prem, you've gotta worry for the rest.
  8. Exeter in a bit of financial trouble too. I wonder if this refers to selling Sandy Park? https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/63520511
  9. Both Webster and Kelly were being scouted by England senior set-up whilst they were at City. Sure both will get their chance eventually.
  10. Is our wage bill regressing faster than other clubs in this division who have had to cut their cloth too? That would be interesting to see, and then we can make a proper judgement as to whether progress is a realistic goal.
  11. Not sure it would be given most clubs in this division are in a similar place post-covid to us. If we assume we are tenth in wages, then interestingly that would be the same as the 2019/20 season:
  12. No doubt he's significantly reduced the wage bill but didn't Gould say the other night it was still top 10?
  13. Couple of coach loads of well-oiled pigs have just arrived in Thornbury in the past half an hour.
  14. The Smiths - Hatful of Hollow Radiohead - OK Computer Super Furry Animals - Songbook PJ Harvey - Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
  15. OK, you're still going back to 2016 which is six years ago. I think Wales have a stronger pool of players now. To suggest they pick "huge numbers" of English players is not true. Aside from that, I don't really see the harm in countries with considerably smaller populations than others being able to pick eligible players up that would never otherwise play for the country they would "most" qualify for. Giving Wales Brennan Johnson, Kieffer Moore and MK Dons Matthew Smith is hardly handing Wales a massive advantage is it? Fact is since 2016 they've largely overachieved for a country with a small population that is largely obsessed with rugby.
  16. Thems the rules. Though not sure this is the case anymore? Certainly the top players of the past decade, Bale, Ramsey, Allen, Ben Davies, Harry Wilson etc all born in Wales. Dan James, Ashley Williams, Joe Morrell have Welsh parents etc
  17. Tyson being pushed a bit harder on the Chisora fight than from your average journo, and unsurprisingly not liking it!
  18. Sorry, Conor pal. But this should be your career over.
  19. October 2010. Boro legend Tony Mowbray returns to manage the club. First home game is against us. Big, expectant crowd. Boro 1 Bristol City 2 Couple of lovely goals from Albert and Marv.
  20. Looking at the setlists they've been playing recently; I don't think anyone attending the AG gig will be disappointed. They'll still play all the "oldies".
  21. Bitton have resigned from the Toolstation Western League. Seems they were living beyond their means. Sad, as they had a good few years - FA Vase semi-finalists a couple of years back?
