  1. Last time I went to The Victoria it was bang average. It's changed owners since it used to do the banging roasts.
  2. May explain why he hasn't been involved much.
  3. Absolutely right. Did Tomori commit a foul? Yes.
  4. After retiring from boxing after beating a frankly shite Dillian Whyte, the tantalising mega-fight that has drawn Fury out of retirement is a third fight with Derek "12 defeats" Chisora, a man he's already beaten twice over 8 frickin years ago. The last fight was crap too, massively one-sided. Wish Del would just retire to be fair; he's taken way too much punishment over the years.
  5. That was at Ricoh tho? Lam was actually playing for Newcastle in the '97 game at the Mem too! ?? Do you think there's any pressure on Pat?
  6. Most points conceded at home since a 1997 game at the Mem against Newcastle.
  7. Struggling to see the progression at the moment. We usually lose to Chiefs at home, but not a battering like this.
  8. Definitely now... did think those first three performances were papering over some cracks. Just gotta try and aim for top six.
  9. I reviewed Mugshot earlier in this thread and overall wasn't massively impressed, apart from the cocktails! Next time I'd definitely get them to cook my steak though, instead of the hot stone gimmick. But a couple of other things weren't totally up to scratch either. It wasn't good enough to knock Pasture off its well-deserved throne. Went Pizza Bianchi last night on the Triangle. From the guys that run Pasta Loco and Bianchis. A solid 8/10. Great wine, pizzas and tunes. Also went Bar 44 in Clifton in July and have to admit I was really surprised at how good it was. Some of the dishes were really exceptional and again the ? were spot on! Excellent Spanish tapas to rival my city favourite Gambas.
  10. Frustrating first half scoreline as we were much the better team when it was 15 aside. Should've taken something at the end of the half though.
  11. An interestingly worded statement from Benn trainer Tony Sims. Basically, "I'm proud none of my fighters until now have been caught juicing"!!
  12. His tenure is looked back on through rose-tinted glasses by most. He under-achieved significantly. Had time, loads of money and yet got beaten to promotion by Crewe Alexandra.
  13. Housing market won't crash until 2025 at the earliest.
  14. Who was called Flapper for good reason. No Alex Scott, is he?
  15. Inexplicable to us, maybe. But Pearson has shown he is very willing to blood youngsters if they're good enough. I reckon he's blooded more young uns / academy players than any other manager we've had. So there simply MUST be a reason why Wilson hasn't been given a run in the team. Given Pearson signed him as well, there's absolutely no reason he'd give Wislon the cold shoulder unless he had some kind of issue/concern. One assumes it relates to what Pearson and his coaches see everyday in training, and that they don't think he's ready yet. As you say, 74 mins not enough for any of us to properly judge whether he's ready or not.
  16. This must be the best example we've ever had. Although technically he signed for the Academy, he then signed a pro deal very soon after. Before signing for us, he made 14 appearances for Guernsey is the Isthmian League Division One South, which is step 8 of English football - SIX divisions below the Championship. To put it in local context, it's the same step as the Southern League Division One South, where Bristol Manor Farm, Frome Town, Slimbridge and Paulton Rovers play.
  17. Outrageous that he tested positive over a month ago and they only tell the public now. Farcical.
  18. South American teams have the exact same problem. Both Brazil and Argentina are looking very good (the latter are on a huge unbeaten run) however it's hard to judge where they are exactly, as they haven't played any top European sides. Argentina are an interesting one. They've lost a lot of their big names over the last couple of years, and just have Messi left. But are looking a lot better for it. Seem to have lost some egos and are a better team for it.
  19. Yes, but the point is those "teams of equal standard" are performing similarly to us. Our results/performances in pointless end of/mid-season friendlies is the same as France, Spain, Germany etc. So why are some people losing their shit and calling for the manager's head? Yeah, I mean that approach at the Euros was bloody disastrous wasn't it, Alex? First major final in 55 years, and we were a post width away from winning it. Here's hoping we don't adopt similarly successful tactics, eh? Of course, we can adapt our style of play, but throwing the baby out of the bathwater seems a little extreme after some pre-tournament friendlies.
  20. I was being light-hearted/joking. However, it is probably true to say this is the first friendly game England have played having already been knocked out of a friendly competition. Having already been relegated, it was a meaningless game, within a meaningless competition. Basically Inception ?
