  1. Interesting you go straight to mentioning Khan. The LDN congestion zone was brought in in 2003, a full 13 years before he became London Mayor. Fact is, dangerous levels of air pollutants need to be dealt with, by law. As I'm sure you know full well, the impact of air pollutants in inner city areas is far more dangerous than in rural/semi rural areas where most motorways are located.
  2. "Rock and roll the snickometer please, Mark"
  3. Bit surprised by that as it was packed on Fri evening. Bar 44 is really good too so sure you'll enjoy that. The gambas are excellent, as are the cocktails.
  4. People could choose to cough up, but £9 a day is quite prohibitive. More likely is people will avoid the area, or if they have the option use alternative transport. The London Congestion Zone has reduced pollutants by around 60%. As for London's wealthy playing the system - no surprise there.
  5. Not sure if you mean on Xmas day itself but I had a three course Xmas dinner at The Kenny on Sunday and it was excellent: Christmas & NYE — The Kenny (thekensingtonarms.co.uk)
  6. Because it is within Bristol's AQMA (Air quality management area), as is most of the city. When Andrea Leadsom was environment sec, her department basically got told by the courts that her air management strategy was unlawful as it was failing to deal with the hundreds of thousands of people that die prematurely in the UK partly due to poor air quality. The government were given a timescale to sort this out, and they basically passed the buck to local authorities to sort it out. Hence all the clean air zones we are now seeing. I think we've got off lightly in the first instance, as the clean air zone covers a small area of the city. They've targeted the worst area for air quality. Bristol had no choice in reality though, unless BCC fancied getting sued, which wouldn't have been ideal given its current financial predicament.
  7. Both. 1995 lost to a Matt Jackson goal, remember Everton fans celebrating on the pitch. Then in 1999 lost to two late Bakayoko goals. Can still remember a Louis Carey slip at fault for one of them!
  8. Away from home you're probably looking at Leicester at the new Walkers stadium in 2003. As we'd been in L1 a few years I recall it was quite an exciting draw at a big, new ground. But pretty sure Leicester were in the Championship at the time. The fact that game stands out to me shows how dire our draws have been. Meanwhile Oxford rock up this evening and draw Arsenal ?
  9. I wouldn't say Wolves was a good draw as it was in the fifth round. At that point in the competition you're pretty much guaranteed to get a big club. Our luck of drawing anyone big in rounds 3 and 4 is absolutely pathetic. It's literally been happening since 1994 - nearly 30 years.
  10. That's all very well, but there is more than a hint of hypocrisy that as a meat eater you accept that eating animals that have been electrocuted, shot with bolt guns, had their throats slit, or in the case of chickens gassed, is OK due to your dietary preference. This hypocrisy is hard for people to acknowledge as we're indoctrinated from a very young age that farm animals are "meat" and dolphins, lions, giraffes etc are magical creatures whose lives are worth more. But if you want to be consistent then surely ALL bad treatment/killing of animals is unacceptable?
  11. WRU reviewing Pivac's position. Reckon he might be on his way with Gatland returning. Poor old England stuck with Eddie tho.
  12. Sixth Prem defeat on the bounce for Bears. 22 defeats in last 32 matches is pretty grim reading.
  13. There's a property event on tomorrow afternoon at AG and I suspect a lot from there will stay on and watch in the Sports Bar.
  14. If he'd been a bit further out that may have rivalled Maynard at QPR.
  15. Surprised how dull and monotone Kompany is for a Premier League winning captain and now making a good start to life in management.
  16. Very decent team. Qualified at a canter from CONCAF ahead of USA and Mexico. Playing some lovely stuff, just lacking that touch of quality in the final third.
  17. Class player. He was an England u-21 as recently as 2020.
  18. It's a good job we have a lucky manager like Southgate who gets all these lucky draws and we don't have to face difficult teams like Japan and Saudi Arabia
  19. On the contrary, not losing your first game is absolutely key.
  20. More 0-0 draws in this tournament so far than in all of the World Cup 2018 and Euro 2020 games put together.
  21. Sure Jim Ratcliffe will be back in with an offer. Shame, as I was hoping he may fancy buying City!
  22. Saw they couldn't raise a team for tonight as a result, and had to forfeit the match. Shocking.
