  1. I agree with you. Yes he's had a better season to previous ones, but as you rightly point out, if we want to be improving he isn't a first pick CB imo. Versatile as can play both RB and RCB. Tanner, Kalas and Atkinson are far better in those positions imo. If Kalas was to go and we didn't replace with similar quality, I wouldn't trust a CB partnership of Vyner and Atkinson to kick us on. Losing Baker was bad enough...if Kalas was to leave as well, and we didn't replace with similar, then it would be very naïve imo.
  2. When you compare the final league table from last year, it's interesting to note the teams who've kicked on with momentum and those who have fallen considerably.
  3. Lots of reports from different outlets reporting the Liverpool interest. Probably all from one original source. The Man City game, Peps words, the continual media interest, can only be a good thing and may create a bidding war. I can actually see him making £30 million plus.
  4. What's the most you've won, from the least amount of outlay? Woke up this morning to a nice surprise. From last night's games. 11 teams to win, 42p (the balance left in my account) @ 982.9/1 boosted. Total £413.24 That's probably the most from the least outlay for me. Have won more in the past, but not with such a small outlay. Anyone better that? Or winthem on a regular basis?
  5. Tudor Raj is absolutely awful now sadly. Wouldn't eat there if you paid me. Sodders needs some decent eating establishments now. Pubs good...but food not so. I've tried getting a tapas menu started in one place, but the owner is hesitant. There's definitely opportunities to be had there, if someone invested properly, as it's now become a place where people visit and lunch etc etc.
  6. Squire is pretty much that...a steak house these days. Shame..I've had good and bad experiences. Food wise the Thai and Italian ( Albanian) is generally consistent. The Latter being ' British' , not authentic Italian. As for the Shoe...they now have two rooms upstairs for meals. Now called the ' Top of the hill' wine bar and restaurant '. ?? Menu is very basic pub grub. Not sure how they are running it, as it was previously allegedly closed down before, for not having adequate fire escapes. Nothing has changed. If there is a kitchen fire, the only escape, is past the kitchen door in the corridor, down some dodgy stairs, or jump out the first story window ?? First night of opening the chef walked out ? Shame, as the lad running it is a lovely lad. Like you say...if it went back to being a proper drinking pub with log fires ( fireplaces have recently been closed down as previous owner bodged flue, making it unsafe...bodge it and scarper merchant ??) It was a great drinking pub...then the tented village ( Sodbury Mosque) got erected in the garden, the far end became like Steptoes yard attracting rats. The Dinny Winks saga...it just spiralled. Can't imagine what sort of disco that was. Nothing surprises me there now. I sincerely hope they turn it around.
  7. I'll give you the Portcullis...but I'm hearing better reports re the Boot in recent months. Haven't been there myself tbh...but others I know said it's better than before. They even had 2 petanque courts out the back last year ?. The ones that have gone downhill in the last couple years imo, are the Squire...now a ' food' pub that's very expensive for what it is, ( drinks extortionate by comparison to most of the street ) plus very clicky...and the Horseshoe... previous owners ruined it, lost all their locals that now drink in the Grapes, and the new manager, nice lad, struggling to find a balance. Pushing it as a food pub...but failing sadly. Nuts I know...just the Buthay ( Fox? ) now? Re the Horseshoe in Sodders going downhill...it started when the owners took on the Dinny Winks as well... up the road from Wickwar. Fell out with owners, lost money etc etc. Everything was a fast buck. They used to have a sign outside saying, ' come in a stranger, leave as a friend '...ended up being the complete opposite. Pretty much every regular left.
  8. Chipping Sodbury has ten drinking establishments on the same high street, in less than 1/2 mile. Add Yate and Old Sodbury a 2.8 mile radius and you have 23 an enormous amount compared to many places per capita.
  9. I look at the year 2028 and compare it to what we've been through in the last four years... You can't plan for 6 months ahead, let alone 5 years. Imo...a lot will change in our lives in the next 5-10 years. Especially travel.
  10. I think you hit the nail on the head regarding a ' reaction' to what's happening in their daily lives. Not all obviously... however I've known people in the workplace and acquaintances who've literally changed personality due to circumstances in their home life. They develop a short fuse and pretty much anything sets them off. They become loud and shouty at everything that they find frustrating. It can be a multitude of things. Bereavement, Divorce, Health, Career, Job, Finance, Depression, Anxiety, Medication, etc etc etc. Medication is definitely something I've noticed change people's Character. Often for the worse. Mix that with drink or drugs, in a frustrating or hostile atmosphere and it can really set people off. Not just at the footy...but in everyday life. Obviously there are people that are just plain and simple dicks...but often their is a reason for some people's strange or aggressive reactions, to things that don't go the way they want straight away.
  11. When I lived and worked abroad, I became more proud to be a Bristolian than previously. I missed the connection and realised what we really have. It's often the case, that you don't realise how good it is, until it's gone. Certainly with the Club. So I certainly understand your circumstance and devotion. I've enjoyed more this season than I haven't. Whilst some results were frustrating there were always some positives. I've always been interested in youth player development and looking for rough diamonds to develop. So for me, the past few seasons have been a joy...as the emergence of youth from the academy into the first team has been remarkable. A quality and quantity like never before. The whole set up, way of playing, players scouted, pathway, loans out, development into first team, blooding, seeing them do so well etc etc etc. The whole Club is of interest now. Getting rid of the dead wood and creating a club all pulling in the same direction. Wanting to be here and fight. No prima Donna's. ...players all wanting to help one another. Seeing the determination, working for one another. The club is now widely praised and many fans from other clubs praise our football and work rate. My only sadness, is not seeing all the development come to full fruition together. A front line of Bell, Conway, Semenyo, with Scott sat behind, with a couple more seasons together would have been my dream. It really is a joy to watch the whole club develop, not just the first team.
  12. Doesn't matter what her name is...she's just ??
  13. He's better well known for who he's married to.
  14. He's created a rod for his own back by making this comment. Especially if they go on a winning run.
  15. GA for City...only 17 is a tremendous effort.
  16. That's why I put wing back in inverted commas Dave. I actually see his potential as a left sided midfielder.
  17. I guess a lot depends on how NP is going to set up defensively next season. Will he go back to playing 3 CBs with ' wing backs', or keep to a 4 at the back with RB and LB? DaSilva isn't a LB. He's more suited to a wing back style. He's not physically suited to being a LB. We can all see that on match days. The analysis websites also point out his weaknesses and strengths to underline what we see most games. Weak at defensive contribution, Aerial duals, tackling, finishing. Strong at dribbling, holding onto the ball, crossing, passing. It's not just his height...but his physical presence in that position. Joe Bryan is only 3cm taller...but had physical presence in the position Jay plays. A Pring, Bryan type player on the left of the defence offers strength and presence defensively, but offer a great deal offensively as well. I can see NP looking for this type of player.
  18. I read on a social media page, that there is a rumour that only 2 are going down this season. Haven't a clue whether their is any basis to it.
  19. Really enjoyed that game. I thought everyone played with desire. Created plenty of chances and defended well. Organised and pressed well. Lots of energy...just needed to be more composed and take care for the ball on occasion in the final third. Really happy to see Harry do well. And yes...he definitely has a Steve Jones vibe about him. It was obvious Naismith was rusty when he came on...but good to get some minutes under his belt again. I thought James and King really shone today. And Wells put in a great shift. It's worth looking at the present Championship table and how close it is from 4th Boro and 13th us. One loss difference. And all the teams in between just a few losses difference. Just goes to show how tight this league is. Converting just a few draws and losses into wins would have had us top 6. https://www.whoscored.com/Regions/252/Tournaments/7/Seasons/9141/Stages/21050/Show/England-Championship-2022-2023
  20. Yate 2-1 up at Merthyr ? can they do the unimaginable!!!
  21. If you watch the replays, Robertson grabs the linos arm...lino reacts by moving his arm away and in doing so connects with Robertson. Nothing in it. Don't put your hands on ref or lino...simple.
  22. Nothing on the referee kneeing a player in the bollox last week. Something needs to change. Players surrounding and hounding refs is just so low imo. https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/12849528/mexican-ref-appears-to-knee-player-in-the-groin
  23. Didn't this happen 8 years ago?
