  1. Imo...Vyner wasn't good enough to be a regular first pick at this level in the past. I don't think the arguement about proving people wrong can solely be about ability. You have to have the drive, motivation and mind set to harness that ability. If you are going through the motions then ' you aren't good enough'. I get the impression NP gives players opportunities to enhance their overall ability, especially if it's a down to mindset. A mindset where you want to be the best player you can be every day, and want to get better, improve, learn, train hard, listen, be humble. Vyner imo has had a kick up the backside so to speak. He responded positively. He still has his limitations, but has improved considerably.
  2. There is a vast array of foot sensors and sensors worn on the calf that now give a ridiculous amount of detail on top of what the GPS vests and heart monitors do. This below gives a good summary of what's available. ? https://sportstechnologyblog.com/2022/06/01/wearable-soccer-football-sensors-that-track-shots-passes-and-more/
  3. Great pic. Rare kit that one. Only lasted 4 months. Aug-Dec 1983. Then we went to Bukta. Anyone remember why we left Umbro?
  4. So many ifs and buts...so many scenarios to think about. Ignoring the teams that come down and come up and how others in the Championship strengthen...then imo a lot will come down to recruitment of experienced players. James, King, Wells will all be a few years older. Maintaining their performances of now, into the next few seasons will be fairly unlikely. The fitness of Kalas and Williams over a season is questionable. Losing Scott will be a massive blow. Everyone else we have now will hopefully develop further. Barring injuries, imo, the decision to either play or recruit experienced Pros of the calibre of James will be paramount. We need that experience to push. Experience but with the capability to still play to the standard needed.
  5. I rest my case with your response.
  6. I actually feel sorry for them...how can you be that thick. ?? Everyone gives someone a chance...but this is typical of society today. It's always someone's else's fault for your own actions. Discipline starts at home. Have a word with yourself if your son is behaving like a dick head and expecting people to back you. Start a thread complaining on an open forum ( which bit of that sounds like a good idea in the first place, typical of Kardashian society )..found guilty...now complaining about solicitors and not understanding...jeeez... Which bit of that makes you look like an innocent? Perhaps you need to grab your 33 year old son and tell him to get a life, grow up, stop behaving like a 12 year old, and making you look like a complete tool. Harsh...but true. Just because he and you support City...it doesn't mean fans will support you for being dick heads. This clown needs throwing under the bus. Too polite in our responses by far.
  7. RR...you've avoided my explanation. Why are you being so stupid? You really aren't helping yourself now. It's ' official' when papers are signed. Not when the OS decides to publish the facts. Which bit of that don't you understand? There are numerous people that are involved in the official signing. I actually feel for you. You come from a generation that believes everything published by certain media and business outlets that have you all hook, line and sinker. It's hard to admit when you're wrong...but you are. It's not something to be ashamed of. The world is moving so fast and what was seen as reality in the past, often isn't now. I digress...but the sentiment stands. You are more likely to hear the truth from someone close to the source without an agenda...rather than an ' official outlet'. As for your disdain of twitter...it's seen as the quickest info that all journalists use that you read. Yes there is disinformation. Yet, check out who own ' fact checkers' on social media. Everything has an agenda behind it.
  8. Which begs the question...why would you trust the OS as being 100% truthful? I'm not saying it isn't. But every business prints what it wants... some more truthful than others. We've had players and fathers of players on this forum...amongst others...if one came on and said the OS is wrong in what it's published...who do you believe? Horses mouth or OS. When Aston was here I questioned everything that was on the OS. Tbh...I question everything as everything has an agenda. When an owner or manager speaks of pushing and expecting promotion on the OS...clearly as fans we know the situation...but they aren't going to say we are happy to survive this league...as that won't sell tickets or sponsorship.
  9. Reminds me of the time Michael Owen behaved like a **** with a 13 year old and Neville Southall called him out.
  10. There used to be a father of a LB that played for us, that drank in the Avon Packet. He would literally tell anyone who would listen what was going on behind closed doors at the club. Most of it was negative because his son wasn't getting picked...too old and past it... however pretty much everything he said was true and was confirmed. This scenario must happen a lot. That's just one instance that comes to mind. As said before...their are family members, agents, friends, etc etc...that are ' fans' and willing to divulge.
  11. That's not true though is it. If a player signs...that's official. The paperwork is done. He's officially signed. When a club choose to make an announcement to the public...that information doesn't make it ' official'. Many people will know a player has officially signed before it's made public.
  12. Why the FFS RR? Are you on a wind up? So a player signs...and his father and family know he's signed. And you think it's still speculation or rumour until it's in the OS!!! That's complete madness. I was once in a relationship with a lass who's family member was a football agent. I got told of goings on, way before anything was announced. Some never announced. Players and managers would often rock up to their house, and I got to meet them. By your reckoning I should never believe anything, even if I witnessed it first hand, until it published publicly. ? There are many people that are in similar situations.
  13. RR...you do realise that there are people who are either related, close friends or work in the professional game that are privy to information before it's announced to the general public?
  14. I didn't know about the scenario re Tommo and JR mate. So can't really comment on that. My impression as for JR's appointment, was imo, purely to get that ' local family feel ' back with the supporters. The appointment of Beadle did so much harm to the club. Regardless of his style of football and results...he lost the respect of the fans and staff. He just wouldn't engage and distanced himself. JR being a local lad, and with previous history with the club has certainly galvanised the fan base and support. I certainly prefer his style of playing over what Beadle was doing. Sadly it's the turnover of players that's killed any coherence and results. I've been told it's not out of choice but down to players wanting to leave or not wanting to fight a relegation battle. Unfortunately the players coming in, generally are poorer quality than those previously. The quality has been on a downward spiral all season. Individual errors rather than team structure often lead to defeat and goals being conceded it seems. I often stand within ear shot of the dug out. I can hear the conversations and instructions. It's often the case that the players are doing what they've been asked to do. Constantly out of position, switching off, not tracking their man etc. And offensively often making the wrong choice of pass or move. If they struggle next season, then JR's ability would surely come into question more. Right now, I think it's hard to tell.
  15. Yes...I was tempted to add ' don't bet on him doing well', as you rightly say, those doing well on par 3 , rarely do well in the actual main event. As an old git' who learnt with blades and persimmon, and got down to single figures using such like, I'm hoping golf bucks it's ideas up. Tradition is deep within many of us. I often look back at what was 'achievable' and considered ' normal'. It's become trapped between the R&A and LIV....and so much money. In such a fast time, as life has become, it can't cope. Golf imo...really is the sport that covers everything in life. You need to play it to understand. The rules, regulations, self referring, etiquette, humbleness. It's the only sport I know that you want to win, but will do everything in your power to play fair, even edging towards losing if it's a 50/50. I learnt more from the age of 12 being a junior member at a golf club, than I did at school or Uni, when it came to life skills and business. It's forever imprinted on my brain how lucky I was in meeting certain people, especially, at the time, coming from a working background. Now...open to everyone thankfully. It's the one thing I'd recommend to anyone else with young kids. Get them into golf and a club. They learn more about life skills than they do at school.
  16. The odds on that are nuts. I've had a few. Sevy in all his years never made one. He even spent a whole day on a par three trying to get one. Arguably one of the best of players ever... yet amateurs make them. Would rather make an albatross tbh. This year's masters could throw up an upset if the weather forecast stays.
  17. Everything has caught up. Injuries haven't helped. No continuity. Loans coming and going. A continual turnover of players. Lots of individual errors rather than effort or team set up. Keeper has had a nightmare season. The standard of each individual playing or managing isn't of this standard, as a medium. As a collective it's caught up. I think many players have kept going, but in their heads were somewhere else. Until money comes in from housing development on land, it will be a few seasons of building again.
  18. Condensed version...At beginning of season the majority of the squad and manager left after doing well last season. Money talked with some players, manager wanted to be nearer home. Beadle came in...and the whole club changed. Fans, players, staff all disliked his influence. Football was crap... literally worst I've seen in many years. It became toxic. Players left, staff left, fans were pissed off. Beadle went...Chairman resigned. Some staff returned. Fans were behind the club again. New manager and assistant, local lad, previous history etc etc. Basically no players left of this standard. Lots of enthusiasm. A turnover of various players from different teams and leagues joining. A downward spiral ...even though they tried to play football, instead of hoof ball under Beadle. Some players gave up when relegation seemed imminent. It's just been a shit show all season. Sadly...Yate don't have the money to compete continuously at this level. They batted well above their station last season. Players moved on for better money. They were left with pretty much nothing at the beginning of the season. It was always going to be a survival season...but Beadle really didn't help. It was shocking...and he was so dismissive of the club and fans. I wouldn't wish him on any club. A bad appointment. For all its negatives this season, and it's faults...at least it feels like a club still attached to it's fan base and town, however everyone is still disappointed. That's the very basic answer.
  19. Exeter seem to be a really well run club. I haven't checked on them for a while, but I remember Steve Perry man was with them, not sure if still there. His influence in recruitment seemed very influential. With a bit of investment I think they could do even better.
  20. STATEMENT - FOOTBALL BANNING ORDER TUESDAY, APRIL 4TH 2023 A man has been banned from attending football matches for three years after magistrates were told he tried to headbutt a Police Officer following Bristol City's Emirates FA Cup tie against Manchester City. Patrick Elkins, of Silverhill Road in Henbury, appeared in court in Bristol on Thursday, March 30th and pleaded guilty to a public order offence of threatening or abusive behaviour and one count of common assaulting against an emergency worker. The 33-year-old was abusive towards Manchester City fans after Bristol City's Emirates FA Cup defeat to the Premier League side on Tuesday, February 28th outside Ashton Gate. Elkins, when approached by officers, then made threats towards them before attempting to headbutt a Police Officer. He received a three-year banning order for his offences, which prevents him from attending any match in the UK for the duration of the order or going to certain areas near football stadiums on match days. Elkins was ordered to carry out 200 hours' unpaid work and must also pay £200 compensation, £114 victim surcharge and £85 costs. Dedicated football officer PC Thomas Williams said: "We welcome the court's decision to issue a football banning order following this incident. We are committed to working with all our football clubs and sports teams to ensure supporters can enjoy games without fearing for their safety. "It is important to recognise however this FA Cup tie was played out in front of a full house with more than 25,000 fans in attendance. The irresponsible actions of one man should not overshadow the good behaviour of the overwhelming majority of supporters who contributed to a terrific atmosphere both inside and outside the ground.” Bristol City Football Club condemns violence in any form as we strive to make matchdays a safe and enjoyable experience for all at Ashton Gate. The Club have fully supported Avon & Somerset Police throughout the process and their decision to issue a football banning order.
  21. Thanks for posting that. Can't remember seeing it before. Was only talking about Gary Williams on another thread recently. Oddly...Swindon and City both had a Gary Williams playing at LB that day. That can't happen very often. White, black and a dash of red will always be a City away kit imo.
  22. A lot of those teams in the bottom half have to play one another between now and the end of the season. It's so tight...one win makes all the difference. I'd personally like Everton, West Ham and Leeds to come down.
