I like Piercy and would say that he doesn't deal in bullshite and can only print what he's heard.

But I still can't see anyone actually paying 5m for Twine.

Anyone reporting a loan yet ?

He's not saying its what anyone is paying though, he's saying its what Burnley's asking price was/is, from their perspective Twine is a Champ ready player who could be part of their squad should they drop down, why would they sell cheaply? (with Prem money in mind when I say cheap)

How does him moving to us on loan, benefit Burnley?

At a guess, they have so many options in that 3 behind the striker, reportedly interested in Benson/Zaroury from them as well they may think he might not get as much game time when everyone is in/fit?

If we want Knight in the CM slot rather than 10 then it opens an easy hole for him to get consistent game time.

Truly remarkable he was ever appointed in the first place.

Since they lost Rob Edwards to Watford Vince has veered all over the place appointing loads of odd choices as head coach.

They’re going back to non league & it won’t be easy for them to return, nowhere near the fan base of Yeovil.

You could at least understand Burchnall, but yeah after that its been a mess

Yes, thanks..was his passing known in real time though? Clearly highly serious.

I suspect a joint decision between Safety Officer and ref, weighing up safety, Proportionality etc.

I'm not sure if it was in ground or en route to hospital or in hospital but its the point that there's a level of seriousness about the situation regardless of EFL guidance. What happens if they continue the game while tending to the crowd incident and something like a Lockyer situation happens on the pitch? I get each club has a doctor whose usually pitch side as well its better to avoid the risk.

We tended to “press” (block more than press) with Knight and Mehmeti either side.  It wasn’t really a 541.  They played with Conway not either side of Williams hd TGH.

I'll be interested to watch parts back, being sat where I was the depth was hard to tell at times but often looked more like Conway being left alone and we wanted to contain rather then go after them.

For me Anis and Sam we’re not in the game enough and when they had the ball they were poor. Tommy Conway wasn’t far behind and just didn’t influence the game. Again I think this game highlighted our lack of creativity and goals, thats no goals in our last three league games.

I felt sorry for Bell in a way, first half out of possession being required to drop in as a RWB in a back 5 but then as soon as we get possession being expected to be near their defensive line, lots of transition work for him and hard being in position. You needed someone like the right footed equivalent of Pring, still capable of attack but has the defensive quality needed being asked to be in the defensive line. Sam was probably being asked to do it because of his physical capacity to be able to do so.

Conway for me doesn't suit the system and role he's being asked to play, he's at his best when he can run in behind, run channels, use his movement in the box off cut backs etc but nothing in possession for us today helped him, all he had was back to play barely even a good pass into feet, more often in the air when he's got a CB behind him whose half a foot taller then him. Even out of possession, being asked to press their entire defensive line because we were 541 where as other games he's had Knight up with him properly in shape and worked much better.

Similarly I don't think the system suits Bell at all, his strength is ball at feet in some space being able to drive at players, linking up off quick movement, being slid in behind as well yet in this system he's being asked to come to Tanner to receive facing our defenders tight to the touchline without much space to operate in. Bell isn't a player whose going to wriggle his way out of tight spaces like that.

They were poor yes, either we need to accept they're the players we want and work out a way to incorporate their strengths, that Preston back line would have hated a whole game of channel balls with Tommy and Sam chasing them down, they put so many out for throw ins in their own third rather than be brave on the ball. OR we're going to end up selling Tommy and Sam because they don't fit the system that Manning will play.

  7. It’s probably dealt with on a case by case basis, how much attention from the paramedics in attendance do they need etc. I was at a game earlier this season where there was a medical emergency at the start of half time, the second half was delayed by a good 25 minutes, todays game seemed to have a similar time after players taken off the pitch before announcement of the abandonment

I know a couple of Preston fans through work and apparently the football is awful hence the dislike of Lowe.

Doesn’t help he recently said in a press conference along the lines of ‘what have fans ever done working in football?’ When it came to questions about results/performances

  9. Think Manning is just looking at it from a development perspective, what’s better for a player 10/15 mins in the champ here and there or 90 mins week in week out in a different side whether it be down in the 21’s/18’s or out on loan. At that age players need to be playing and training something they miss out on if they’re travelling and just on the bench

Maybe worth looking elsewhere then anyway imo. That central attack role is locked down by Knight and we have able cover in Weimann and eventually Benarous. RW far more pressing.

I’d be interested as to whether Knight has enough physically to still be involved regularly playing as one of the two deeper ones and seems to really be able to go box to box

I have ex players who are Bristol City scholars now. If another club is interested in a player at that age and the player has not signed, it should be a moral obligation to make the player and their parents aware of interested clubs.

Signing as a scholar for differing clubs brings differing expectation, support and financial considerations e.g educational opportunity, private tuition, length of contract and wages, alongside playing expectation of playing time, role and intent of the club.

The point was the other club had no knowledge of who the player was so there was no interest before the phone call, Hockaday essentially went out of his way so the player didn't sign for City.
