Gutted, but they are in good form & might end up a very good point.

Here's to Brentford beating MK next week to keep us safe.

You've jumped ahead without considering Tuesday's games mate. If MK lose away to Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday we're safe (apart from maybe Charlton who need to win all 4 of their remaining games and overturn a far worse goal difference)

Not bad really, we wouldn't get this much in sponsorship if we didn't do it this way.

....but what about 'Irene n da famouz quarterzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz'?

There must be a huge list of multinational companies begging to sponsor Rovers.

You're lucky you didn't end up with Vanarama because that would've topped being sponsored by a boozer this year.

I guess they are now saying that we would be bottom if only Bolton, Charlton, MK Dons, Rotherham, Nottingham Forest and Huddersfield were not so w*nk? :D

I notice that 'Early Days...' thread has carried on from Tuesday. The latest post claims that we now look to survive purely because other teams are shit....and not because of how good we are.

Posted on the same day that we comfortably beat in form Sheffield Wednesday 4-1. Not the brightest are they?

Some more sensible assheads, guys including Weeezord have called the thread an embarrassment.

Take another look mate, it was our very own pet Pompey supporting embarrassed  Saghead 'Weezord' who started the thread in the first place.

Looks like they tried to turn it into a general Tuesday night football thread after they realised they'd gone off in their pants a bit too early.

One of them would "cry with joy" if they ended up in the same division as us.....how sweet, shows the difference in our ambitions compared to theirs.

You just know that our draw and MKs defeat really ruined their night. I'm sure if the gap is back down to 4 points on Saturday night they'll start celebrating again.

On Saturday before our game against Crawley I had my normal pre match pint(s) in the Civil Service club, surrounded by friends who I see at every home game. One of them was John, normally there with his son Paul, both good friends of mine through AEK Boco & Rovers. He explained that Paul was on a charity bike ride, and would be joining us later.

Sadly, tragically, Paul collapsed and died on the ride, he was just 42 years old. John is broken hearted, as are the mother, brothers and children he left behind.

Paul was one of the good guys, upbeat, always positive and Rovers through & through. Pre match pints at Rovers, and watching kids matches at Boco will never be quite the same again, but I suppose the  best we can ever hope for, is that we make a positive contribution during our short time on earth, and Paul certainly did that.

Sorry to hear about this Miah.

RIP Paul and thoughts with his family.

For club that has no club song and whose fans can't even put their heads together to adopt or write one,

We've got 'Drink up thy Zider'....

We didn't nick the song from another club.

Maybe you should talk to non Bristol fans who have been to both grounds and see which they say has the best atmosphere, but you wouldn't like the answer.

Our atmosphere can be shit at times, by your own fans admission so can yours. Presumably the fans of 'non Bristol' teams you've been speaking to are the ones who've accidentally strayed into 'the Welly' and have said exactly what they think you want to hear whilst you've got them pinned to a wall, boring them to death. I'm sure it helps if you've got that look of sheer desperation in your eyes at the time..."please say Gasheads are better, PLEEEASE"

Ive read plenty of comments on Football Forums and Facebook complimenting our atmosphere at AG...others who say our away support at their ground is amongst the best they've had. Difference between us and you is that we don't pretend various complimentary comments from some different people represent every fan in the country.

Btw, I've also heard and read many, many comments about your (according to you) amazing and vocal support that YOU wouldn't like. Seems not everyone thinks you're as great as you think you are.

According to co-commentator, Keith Brookman - who is their stadium manager - yes they do.

Sorry 'inbread' I think you're cidered up already by the looks of it.

Take a look at some of these belters, beyond laughable.....

    http://gaschat.co.uk/thread/6579/35-000?page=4

Actually some pretty sensible posts on that thread by Gasheads who wonder if 35k might be a bit on the large side for Rovers given the clubs previous attendances at L1 and Championship level. Predictably they're being branded 'shitheads' and told to go back to OTIB by the deluded morons who regularly post on that board....as if sensibly arguing your point whilst backing up your theory with facts must mean you're a City fan?

Love the way one of them suggests that the reason Rovers haven't regularly had 30k attendances over the last 40 years is because Eastville, Twerton and the Mem had capacities below that figure....presumably he thinks they've sold out every match for the last 4 decades.

Personally I think both clubs would attract 27,000 in the Prem, but rarely see that figure in the Championship (unless there was a dramatic change in the football viewing habits of most Bristolians) and certainly not in L1.

  10. I personally know loads of Bristolians who say they are lifelong Man Utd/Liverpool/Chelsea fans who suddenly claim to also support the Gas whenever they do well or City get relegated. Quiet as church mice when Rovers lose their league status of course.

In reality they never attend games at the Mem and rarely if ever attend games at Old Trafford/Anfield/Stamford Bridge. The Gas are welcome to 'fans' like that as far as I'm concerned.

Clearly, as demonstrated by our attendance at the JPT Final, there are plenty of Bristolians who don't fall for the sob stories from actual Gas relatives /neighbours or believe the outright lies that get spread about our supporters and the supposed behaviour directed towards players and managers at Ashton Gate.

I've no doubt that if City and Rovers ever reach the Premiership both clubs would need 27k stadiums. If it did happen Im sure plenty of the previous 'Gas sympathisers' would quickly realise that 'original' Rovers fans aren't actually as marvellous and as 'class above City' as they've always claimed....possibly about the same time the first opposition black player gets hold of the ball.

No offence to Miah and In The Net of course, I'm not suggesting ALL Gasheads are racist, just that Rovers fans certainly aren't better football fans than us or anyone else.

if you look at percentage of home v away they probably  out do us, I think most clubs average away support of 5 to 10 % of home gates, we are in that area but not towards the higher end, they probably are

but their home gates are and always  will be abysmal

If they out do us it's only because their home gates are, on average, much smaller than ours. I'm not sure why so many of them take so much pride in this?

As 'Jack Dawe' correctly points out a few posts above, if you use away numbers as a percentage of home numbers their figures will be no better than Accrington or Hartlepool.....I bet fans of those two clubs don't constantly bang on to their neighbours and the wider football world about how great and loyal they think they are.

More delusion from a Gapper on Slagchat:

"It's disappointing because they clearly were not on that good a run and that's what concerns me about now having to play so many teams at the bottom as we are almost a "cup-final" to some."

Presumably it's this kind of humble, 'down to Earth' attitude that makes Bristol Rovers so loved and respected by the rest of the football World....at least, that's what some of the deluded morons keep telling anyone who will listen.

I actually took Advanced Gasonometry as an option at college. I don't remember all of it but a typical question was:

    Away Games:

3,000 travelling gasheads arrive at Wycombe (three part question, 12 points available)

    a) If the away capacity is 2,500 how many fans are locked out, and how many is this reported as being in the Bristol Evening Post (2 points each, 4 points in total)

    b) How many police horses will be punched after the game if (i) Rovers win (ii) the game is drawn (iii) Wycombe win (1 point each, bonus point if all three answers are correct, 4 points in total)

    c) How many sheeds will have been in the home end if  (i) Rovers win (ii) the game is drawn (iii) Wycombe win (1 point each, bonus point if all three answers are correct, 4 points in total)

    Tricky stuff Eddie, that certainly is advanced Gasonometry....I'll have a crack anyway;

    A) (i) 500 are actually locked out, however as we know that this figure is way too low you MUST find out how many "they gert ******* SHIT EDS" (tgfSe) last took to Wycombe** and add at least 1000. Anything above this figure is considered correct.

    (tgfSe) + 1000 > = Gas locked out

** obsession and knowledge of Bristol City's away attendances are considered 'basic' Gasonometry. A good, true Gashead will instantly know exactly how many fans we took on our last visit to Adams Park.

(ii) the figure printed by the Evening Post will, coincidentally, be the same as the figure conjured up by the cretins on Slagchat who have used the formula in the section above.

    B) (i) as many as possible "horsey SHIT ED ***t s"

    (ii) 82

(ii) depends how many sheed Horses are in the home end who just come to watch da gas.

    C) (i) 2000..."HA HA LMFAO GUTED SHIT EDZ LOOOL"

    (i) 50-100

(iii) 0....the home end was full of Gasheads who weren't included in the away crowd figures so that's another 2000+ to add on to the Rovers away total. No actual proof for number of Gasheads in the home end is required. If 'tgfSh' don't believe you whilst asking you to "prove it" immediately stamp feet, call 'tgfSh' "jealous of Irene n da famous quarterz" and ask if Bristol City have ever taken 80,000 to Wembley for a League 2 Play Off final?
