  1. iirc City and Reading had both won their first 4 games and after 6/7 games we were 2nd. We then went on a bit of a slide. Thank god we won those first 4 league games that season. We'd have gone down.
  2. It was lucky. We were scraping results and Bentley was on top form (especially Forest away). We were only heading one way. Joe Williams injury as an example - Holden brought him back from Injury in a game vs Cardiff in which we lost 2-0. He then decided to play him again 3 days later in the FA Cup when Williams picked up another injury. It was an absolutely ridiculous decision.
  3. I do rate Tanner's aggression and tenacity. Not brilliant going forward and on the ball but that's ok as long as he can defend ok. He's like an old fashioned Right back

    Sykes at RW

He did ok. Really was getting frustrated by his crosses though, continuously getting blocked when in acres of space. Can't fault his work ethic at all though and the 2 goals!
  5. I don't think we were 2nd at Christmas though? Nice bloke and I wish him all the best at Charlton.
  6. Effort was never in question here, just a lack of a cutting edge and we still have a bit of a soft underbelly. Shambles when he came in - absolutely. We could barely get out of our own penalty area in the few games before NP took over. Players just winding down their contracts here and not giving a ****. Poor old Holden didn't have the strength or the experience to deal with them. We've needed a Pearson at this club to sort it out for a long time.
  7. 3 unacceprable performances this season - Birmingham A, Reading A, Lincoln H. We are not that far away from getting consistency, performances haven't been as bad as been made out lately it's just coming without reward and individual errors costing us. NP has his hands tied in the transfer market unfortunately and I can't think of another Manager who would come in right now and change things. Said this all along by the way. Glad to feel somewhat smug about our 4-2 win today and a great performance. Think Nige deserves some praise after some of the over the top social media abuse he has received recently.
  8. As soon as the defender let the ball bounce he was in trouble and was off balance. Not a foul imo
  9. To me and i'm sorry to say it, it's not 'Bristol City'. Projecting some kind of atmosphere back to the place would help rejuvenate this, even if things did get aggressive then so be it. The place has been dead for a long time and has been attracting way too many day trippers
  10. Between 2007 and 2013 when the EE was used to be partizan I can't remember a single time when it got out of hand and lead to aggression? Lots of banter between two sets of fans and a decent atmosphere which did in turn help the team on the pitch especially during the GJ years. I think you're thinking of the most extreme case and worst case scenario. This club has been an absolute dead atmosphere since the ground was redeveloped, tbh I preferred how it used to be
  11. As SC once said 'When our home fans have an atmosphere like that (Swindon home game 14/15) teams can't win here'. That said game against Swindon was on of the most hostile and best atmosphere's AG has had probably since it became an all seater stadium - and we only had 3 stands that day.
  12. I had a Season ticket in EE in 09/10 and I can tell you although the football wasn't great the atmosphere was 10 times better than any home atmosphere at today's home games.
  13. This is how I see the upper management's view of the club. I think they want the club to appeal to day trippers for extra revenue and income, but simply forget the majority of the hardcore support are quite vocal, from working class backgrounds. The club's hardcore fanbase is not made up of the prawn sandwich brigade. Funnily enough the worse we do on the pitch the less likely day trippers come for a day out at the Football and the more likely the hardcore support will remain and therefore the atmosphere would likely improve, which is probably why the atmosphere vs Swansea was better than expected as ground likely full of hardcore City fans as opposed to day trippers looking to go to a local Championship match at a nice ground.
  14. Lets hope this comes off, the ground has needed some sort of character which has been slowly and carefully diluted by the club for the past 6 years.
  15. This is a really depressing ready but sadly it's true.
  16. Which would include the Sky TV package. You would also want to have BT Sport as a subscription and need to subscribe to Amazon Prime to watch all live matches. It's a rip off in my opinion and not affordable to those at the bottom. I feel for the kids who are not able to watch their best favourite players play on tv, now ITV do not hold the rights for any Champions League live action it's basically a closed shop for anyone who can't afford all the subscriptions, which is probably what the corporates at Sky and BT wanted all along.
  17. Maybe if the prices were reasonable and you were not looking at over £100 a month on subscriptions to Sky, BT and Amazon for Sport then people wouldn't turn to illegal streams. Sky are absolutely greedy *****
  18. I thought he said he would manage Sheffield Wednesday to get them relegated so he can laugh his head off for the rest of his life. To be honest I'd feel the same if I was a Manager and got the chance to manage Rovers.
  19. I don't think many of them can remember us struggling to get out of League 1 year after year and being bottom of the league under SOD. These kids have the luxury of watching us in the 2nd tier which many of our fanbase did not get to witness often during the 1980s and 2000s. Struggling in the Championship is the norm for our club
  20. Gonna be honest, I thought every time we played Brentford ever since we got Promoted we looked miles away from them, even in the games we luckily got a win or a point. The 2017/18 home game against them was a 1-0 hammering if anything
  21. Fulham H (2016/2017) Preston A (2016/2017) (Probably as bad as it gets) Leeds H (2017/2018) Brentford H (2017/2018) Sunderland H (2017/2018) 3-0 up at HT against a team in relegation zone and drew 3-3. Villa A (2017/2018) Cardiff H (2019/20) Blackburn H (2019/20) Brentford H (2019/20) Derby A (2020/21) Watford A (2020/21) Reading H (2020/21) Barnsley H (2020/21) Any Home match against Birmingham or Preston in the last 5/6 years. All dreadful performances pre Pearson that some fans have forgot about. There have been way too many over the years (I would also include Reading A this season as being totally unacceptable too, and many last season). Some of the players have to take a proportion of the blame in my opinion, it's been like this for a few years now and it's not good enough.
  22. He was an extremely lucky manager here. People have such short memories - There were some truly awful performances under him throughout his time yet I've seen some say the recent Stoke and West Brom games being the worst in 30 years. I can only assume they haven't seen us very much.
  23. Not sure that would be the reason. He's a great presenter anyway regardless of his views, and has always been underrated. Don't care if he is a Tory or anti Tory tbh, if they do a good job then good
  24. It's unfortunate his last game for Wales was being hauled off at HT in a 3-0 defeat to England
  25. I can see his spell there going down the same route as it did at Watford. Won them Promotion in 2006 and was likely hugely credited for this success. Unfortunately, long term it doesn't last, as we also saw here. Takes too many gambles on short term success but doesn't give much thought into the future.
