  1. Two wickets down but Glos seem to be relying on scoreboard pressure to get the next wicket. Higgins bowling without a slip can't have happened often?
  2. Not Western fans then? Nor fans of Elvis Costello? https://youtu.be/c7bZNShqoVQ
  3. So it's 211 in 60, I think the pitch is easy enough that York's can keep pushing even if they lose wickets steadily, you would have to have them odds on with the draw 2nd favourite right now.
  4. Actually managing to take some time out of the game and add a few runs, it could turn into another nail biter like last week. Great innings by James Bracey, 3 hundreds in recent innings must get England looking again even as a specialist batter.
  5. Two wickets in two overs may have turned the game to a Yorkshire win.
  6. We seem to have the opposite problem at Bristol, the two batting now are making a 4th day pitch look easy, there doesn't even seem to be any foot holes to exploit for Gohar. The only time wickets look likely to fall are first thing on a cloudy day, other than poor batting or an exceptional ball.
  7. Supplement maybe? I am told that Curtis is popular but overworked, since the other two left (Downing is considered a big miss by the players surprisingly). Alex Ball apparently doesn't have the gravitas needed for some of the more experienced pros.
  8. Best scenario if we are to take the draw, it might be forced upon us by the natural fall of wickets though. Braces is bang in form though and Gohar is really impressive in the way he has come into English conditions.
  9. I suppose it depends on which teams progress (there are always surprises) and also which teams get relegated. I think the EFL will apply their normal rules on international call ups.
  10. My father in law has been a huge fan for years, treasurer in the local Bristol league, player and referee, so I have maintained an interest as it makes a good discussion point now he is in his 80s. Ironically he actually finds it less interesting now because "they are all so good, it's a bit boring". I shall watch a few frames for reference though, as I am seeing him Tuesday.
  11. Nice. It looks like the men's starting 11 on Friday had the day off though.
  12. Seems a sensible approach, thank you. It will be interesting to see what the fitness guys think is the best way to approach it, I suppose a lot will depend on each player's requirements as usual.
  13. For what it's worth, I understand that Klose is very popular with the squad and has been since he came in, has a good sense of humour apparently. Atkinson said that his illness had lingered and that he was lacking energy even in training. Before that he was making some excellent runs forward, even pushing into positions inside the left wing back. It's only now that he is feeling fit enough to trust himself to get back again once he has gone forward.
  14. I knew the word, trouble was I knew two of the others too and only had one guess left. Needle blew my mind this morning, I didn't realise the thing allowed fractions! My first ever defeat
  15. Thanks guys, at least you look like you read my original post.
  16. Opinions on Bakinson sound familiar.... https://www.twtd.co.uk/forum/533880/criminal-from-bakinson-there/#10 And it seems MA will have their blessing to fill his pockets, sorry, make more signings.....
  17. "2 years from now" he said in August 2018, but as Kirsty McColl once said "there's a man down the chip shop swears he's Elvis".
  18. Perhaps the most unusual season in European history will see the top divisions closing down for a long period for the World Cup. In England the Premiership will close from the 11th November and restart on Boxing Day. The Championship will also close on the 11th but restart on Dec 10th after the group games have finished, individual clubs will be able to postpone games though if they can show their squad is sufficiently weakened. So as per the title, how would you approach the season? Regarding training will it be a normal pre season followed perhaps a mini pre season in December? In games we could potentially play a heavy pressing game, knowing that we will have a mid season break for recovery and to go again in the "second half" of the season. Ironically, it might be perfectly structured for LJ's "busy bees" team, but might also suit NP's hard working aggressive style.
  19. First of all we are finally mathematically safe so even the most pessimistic of our supporter's can breathe deeply again. I seem to remember posting at the end of February when we had 40 points, that we were already safe, it's going to be close but I still think that will be true. Nigel said he wanted a strong finish to the season and that's understandable but difficult to achieve with players that will have one eye on the break, individual targets can help with motivation but we need some as a team too From here we could look at: - 60 points - The most ambitious, will mean winning all the remaining games. Reducing our terrible goal difference/some more clean sheets - Something that would increase confidence throughout the club. 15th place - looking at the way the table has split, that would put us at the top of the bottom group of teams. Finishing above Cardiff - A bit of local ambition admittedly but one the supporter's will enjoy. I would also like to see a few young players getting minutes, but that comes under the individual targets.
  20. Congratulations on being the first ever person to put the word "enjoyable" into a sentence with "the Potteries".
