I appreciate it wasn't a great bowling performance, but earlier in this thread @TomF made the excellent point that batsmen should be given 18 months to show their worth and surely that has to be the same for the bowlers? We could have picked the aging Anderson and Broad and made more of a game of it, but the young(er) bowlers can't hide behind them forever and they will only improve by the experience of the different conditions.

When I was working for Gala Bingo at the end of the century, their club in Worcester was given a full facelift. In the attic rooms they found pristine condition posters for bands like The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Freddie and the Dreamers. It's easy to forget that these bands all had to start somewhere. Ok so, are you saying that £70m would be akin to an insurance valuation for a replacement stadium, rather than the amount they could raise by selling it and sharing with Port Vale for example? If so, then it sort of matches my feeling that it's a "that's it's value to us" figure, a bit like family heirlooms that crop up on the antiques programmes. I think it's something that the EFL need to be challenging or at least tightening the rules on.

@Davefevs @Mr Popodopolous Surely the biggest issue with Stoke is that ground valuation (again). I swear you could buy most of Stoke for around £70m! What would be done with the ground if it wasn't a football ground? Housing has very low values in the potteries, it's also in a complex that includes a hotel and shops, so it's unlikely anyone would want to build more there. I just don't understand that valuation in that area.
