Judging by that interview with Darren Ferguson, they had more than enough time to sort the deal - sounds like a bit of a game has been played by Wally!

Making it look to the Gas ‘Eds that they were prepared to invest nigh on a million quid (and a big, three year contract for JCB), only for it to not then happen.

What an unprofessional outfit they’ve proven to be yet again

And too look like that new middle eastern invester actually is investing.

Yes really.  I am genuinely amazed that people think Bentley is better.  If I were a centre half I know which keeper I'd rather have playing behind me.  Give me solid, reliable and calm over spectacular but erratic and nervy anyday.

Bents loved a camera save which some fans like, when he messed up he messed up massively!

‘Building up a nest egg for the longer term’ sounds suspiciously like ‘I’m confident NP will keep us up this season, allowing me to indulge my preferred successor next season’. I don’t think this is an entirely terrible strategy, actually, but for the likelihood that it will all go arse up, leaving us having to spend everything over the next 5 years in League 1 trying to get back to where we are today.

I said this a couple of weeks about saving the money for the next manager.

Lansdown won’t back Pearson from here on, i hope i am wrong, but i feel as if he will be looking forward to seeing the back of him. He has sorted the mess and should be fully backed, but as NP seems to call it as he see’s it, then it is completley against what Lansdown likes in a manager (we all know it’s his club and his money so he will do what he wants & no one can question it blah blah blah). Think this time next year our manager will be the one that is currently at Plymouth.

Just what I was thinking today even before the game. Holding the funds back for the next manager and NP like SC isn't his ideal type of manager. Will definitely go for a young and up coming one next.

    in season 2022/23

total attendance of 19.8m in the 2022-23 season, the biggest since the 1953-54 season.

The Championship total of 10,391,945 fans is the first time for four years the number has broken eight figures.

and if the EFL stopped scheduling the likes of Bristol City cardiff swansea against Sunderland and Middlesbrough and vica versus  for mid week games they would be a lot higher.

I think I've read before that those types of midweek games are on purpose because even on the weekends they say it's unlikely to sell more tickets than against a team closer due to the distance.

Think he'll be a great addition personally. Intelligent with creating space and linking midfield to attack.

Just the type of player Alex Scott could do with infront of him to help link up play.

    Hope this comes off.

I don't know why but I see him as a championship Matty Taylor

Maenpaa Has got to be up there with the best goalies we’ve had even in the last 20 years. Shame it was quite a brief stint.

Was going to say the same thing. Shame about fitness, can only really remember one clanger him making in a home game but can't remember who against. The only other keeper in the last 20 years near him was probably Basso?

Always remember him from the 3-2 win at Ipswich, he threw one into the net & didn’t do much better with Paterson’s goal, either.

Might have been a one off, of course.

Pretty sure that season I saw him have a fair few shockers. Being at Millwall with a strong defence in front of him helps a lot

  9. 12m plus some hefty add ons might be doable and if a bulk of that 12m is up front then the board might see it handy to give nigel some funds to strength this window. Obviously would like more but with our finances it could sort us out in the longer picture.

His old man can be as robust as he likes but no Goalkeeper can be letting nigh on two goals per game go past him (unless playing for a bottom of the league side who he is personally saving from getting absolutely battered every week) and EXPECT a starting spot, particularly when the other guy steps up and is conceding one per game in a team with exactly the same defensive frailties. It's not like we have signed a dominant centre half and are comparing apples with pears. O'Leary has to put up with the same shite that Bentley had to earlier in the season and, to date, is showing up better.

That's how it is as a Goalkeeper, one spot only and the best performer gets the shirt. As well as the bigger picture which benefits the club O'Leary is in the side on merit to be fair.

He's been a liabity for us for a while and has dropped some major clangers. People like him as he'll make a good camera save during the game. True he'll have a game where he might save everything but 99% of keepers will have a blinder of a game once in a while. I'm not 100% sold on Max in goal but the stats don't lie and much rather him in goal.

I didn’t think teams were allowed to change their pitch dimensions mid season, thought they submitted at the start of the season and that was it!

I tweeted Toby during comms yesterday, and have just looked up the rules.

I was right.  Those years of playing Football Manager stood me in good stead.

I've always found it weird how pitches are allowed to be different sizes. Surely should be the same size.

    Any reason why?

Shame Palace had a problem with the stream, it sounds like there were some good individual performances as well as a good team performance. Good to see Palmer-Houlden getting goals to go with his good build up work.

@Davefevs I was trying to think who he reminds of last time I saw him play, and I think it's a favourite of yours Cauley Woodrow.

He's a favourite of mine as well so if he's anything like him then great!
