Remember, even when City were at an absolute all-time low, those two seasons in the fourth division, while Rovers were in the league above, we still averaged higher gates than they did across the two seasons.

Let that sink in for a moment.

Is that right? Didn’t know that

    Thanks for your reply !

P.S. They have positive GD in the League Table and one match less...I have to say I am truly dissapointed with how the things turned on since November. I refuse to think that Plymouth has a better squad than ours, so the management is still "on point" like it was in the past decade.

Personally I think they have a very good team and won’t be surprised to see them finish above us, if they had a half decent away record ( I think only one away win all season) they wouldn’t be far off the play-offs

It’s a one sided rivalry - They see it, or at least did, as a rivalry.

Never ever been a rivalry with them, plenty of lively days down there though back in the day

It’s always amusing when a City ‘fan’, who is glued to their armchair, decides to slag off the gas attendances - yep their crowd figures are low, but at least those guys and gals get out there and support their team. I suppose that’s better than prowling this forum non stop whilst never bothering to actually go out and support your team ...

I’m not sat in my armchair mate, I’m halfway through a 13 hour shift and if you don’t mind I find that a 7,500 crowd brings a massive smile to my face 😀

I’m always positive and always realistic.

I don’t know anything about Luton’s story, are there parallels? same owner, same mistakes, or a change or several changes of ownership along the way? Happy to hear from someone who knows the path they took, are there other clubs who haven’t cheated to get there (not saying Luton did, but there are I believe clubs who got promoted who would have been in big trouble had they not).

We’ve been really close once, didn’t back the manager fully then, and paid the price.

I just don’t see any real chance of promotion, the goalposts are moving further and further away, the parachute teams becoming more and more prevalent.

I go now out of habit and to be entertained, I wasn’t disappointed or deflated by the Leeds result, we were second best, everyone looked like they were trying and I thought Leeds were fantastic( a short break while I throw up having to say that).

The most vital change for me has to be in ownership and appointing people who have earned the right to be employed in the correct roles, there is far too much jobs for the boys inside Ashton Gate.

Perhaps our grandfathers stood next to each other at St John’s  Lane, mine claimed to have gone to the Cup Final (he would have been nine), I never really had a chance to question him as he passed away when I was still quite young and it wasn’t something that seemed to matter then, it does now.

I actually have no idea if my granddad went to the cup final, i doubt it otherwise i'm sure it would of been mentioned, apparently Billy Wedlock was his hero and the best player in the country according to him !!!

If teams, like Burnley, Fulham, Brentford, Bradford, Luton, Hull Huddersfield, Blackpool etc. etc. etc can get there then so can we, i'm as frustrated as the next man that season after season we can't even finish above Preston but i still have hope and honestly believe we will get there and hopefully under this regime, i know i know, i'm a fool

    NZ demolishing SA reserves.

Watched a bit the other night and was amazed when the comms said that NZ have NEVER  beaten SA in a Test series.

That is a strange stat, SA were in the wilderness for 20 odd years though so slightly distorts it, still surprising though

In 1976 I walked up the steps into Highbury with my Dad and his words are still ringing in my ears, he said “I never thought I’d live to see this day” he was 51 and had supported man and boy since he could stand up and had long dreamed of seeing his team in the first division (as was).

Fast forward to 2023, I am considerably older than my father was in 76, and I don’t dream of seeing us in the Prem, it simply won’t happen in my remaining lifetime, and call me pessimistic but while the people who currently run the club continue to do so, it will never happen.

If as a City fan anyone believes we will get to the promised land under the present regime then good luck to you, I genuinely think you have more chance of winning the lottery first prize than achieving promotion.

I won’t try and justify my statement, I’ll just refer you to the definition of insanity by dear old uncle Albert.

My dear old dad was in his mid 50's as well, i remember the pride he felt seeing "his team" finally in the top flight and telling me how lucky i was only having to wait till i was a teenager to see it, i  used to love the stories he used to tell me about how his dad used to watch Bristol South End on St. Johns Lane, i've got to believe that my kids don't have to wait till they are in their mid 50s

What were Luton fans thinking 8 years ago while they were mid-table mediocrity in the conference ? I think it's better to stay positive and hopeful otherwise what's the point ?

I mean it was Manning who likes Mehmeti and wanted to sign him before we beat Oxford to it. I can see talent in Mehmeti but his decision making needs to mature and fast and with Cornick I see a guy giving 100% but getting abuse because he doesn't score, yet all of our strikers can't score at the moment and a lot of our fans are blaming them when they've got no service what so ever.

WBA took on Andi, played him as a striker which I've seen saying is his best position that we only played him in for one season and then they have him service and instantly he scores.

Our strikers are not the issue, the lack of service they get is the issue and I honestly think Conway will go in the summer and will be sorting regularly and even Cornick would get goals in a team with service.

I'm really starting to worry about some of our fans, attacking Max for anything they can, the second the bloke makes a mistake it's all daggers but when he's saving us points it's "that's his job". He's another I'd like to see move on just so he can be appreciated because I think he would be.

At the end of the day our problems are in our lack of creativity, we can do the basics but we have no flair or punch on the ball. When we were under Pearson he identified that issue and developed a fast counter attacking system to create chances using the pace of our players because he knew the creativity was lacking. Manning has come in and got us playing lovely passing football but it disguises the fact that we have no end product or creativity in the final third. We've also seen that when the opposition plays our own style against us we can become pinned back and fail to make our way up the pitch due to that lack of flair on the ball.

When I look at other teams there is usually something about them that makes them dangerous, I don't see that with us. We can't supply our striker/s, we cross but have no threat in the air unless it's a set piece, we struggle to create space around the box, we're unable to make those small intricate passes in the opposition area that cause panic and we don't have a single later that excites the crowd when they get on the ball.

If we lose to Forest I'm interested to see how the players react as that'll be the season done for them. If I were Manning I'd be very concerned about going into next season with morale down, fans interested lower and the board having to deal with the potential losses of Conway and Pring. Pring for me is a mid level Premier League player and staying here will prevent him from progressing, he's by far the best player we have and I can't see us holding onto him.

Not sure about that, his 39 goals in 8 years suggests otherwise

    spot on, and ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Yes, Cornick played that role at Luton.  Played alongside Adebayo in 21/22 scoring a dozen as part of a two.  He had played a lot of his career as a wide forward admittedly, but you said never…he had a huge part of that season playing there.

Minutes become harder when Luton signed Carlton Morris for 22/23.

Ah, yes, the budget.  Or should we say “budget for Nige”!!!

Cornick has scored 39 goals in 8 years, so he doesn't even average 5 goals a season irrespective of what position he plays in, he is most definitely not a centre forward, which is my point

In the summer we were playing a different system with 3 forwards. We had Bell, Mehmeti, Weimann and Sykes as wide forwards, and Conway, Wells and Cornick as central strikers. Cornick and Weimann could also play central or wide and let's not forget Yeboah was also getting minutes.
I'd say we were pretty well stocked in the forward department at the start of the season and it was only a significant run of injuries that started eating into these options. Though as I remember it I think the issues were more in defence and midfield that up top.

So I'm not having Pearson being to blame for that, let's not forget Manning inherited a top 6 squad

I'm talking out and out centre forwards not wide strikers who rarely score (with the exception of Sykes) That leaves us the three centre forwards you've mentioned of which Cornick never played that roll at Luton, Wells is well passed it which leaves us with the still very young and inexperienced Conway, we were well under-cooked in the CF department going into the new season

Perhaps if our form over the last 6 games was 15+ points out of 18 rather than 3, we would be talking about putting a few bob on. However, our next couple of games are Boro and Southampton. We’ll do well to pick up a couple of points here.

Southampton are demolishing teams and are unbeaten in about 20 games so being as we've been waving the white flag against the divisions elite teams for the last five years expect nothing there, i wouldn't be surprised if we pick something up at Boro next week though.

Pearson? Whilst the in-situ manager/ Head Coach may have a say from a shortlist put in front of them, isn’t it the club recruitment department that effectively curate that list?

Bit different than Pearson being able to independently say “here’s who I want, go get him”.

That's fair enough but he certainly has a say, whoever's to blame the poor & small pool of strikers to choose from has been a massive problem

After QPR and Huddersfield won today, we are sitting just 10 pts clear of a relegation place.

Given our next game is Southampton, that gap could well be less ahead of what could be a key game home to QPR.

Can't imagine we would have had to worry about being drawn into a relegation scrap had Pearson stayed...

The fact that Pearson didn't address the fact in the summer that we needed a striker is half the problem
