Why are you trying to bring up the past and stir tensions?

Lets not rewrite history. Only a very very small minority thought it was the right time to sack NP and that his time was up. The general feeling within the fanbase was that he should have been given a new contract.

Even if we go on and get promotion to the premier league, there is always going to be a sour taste in the mouth about how things were handled by the club.

That's rich coming you, it's about the only thing you've talked about in the past two months, practically every day without fail, most of NP backers seem to have come around to the fact that although they weren't happy with the decision (which is fair enough) they have now accepted it whereas you can't seem to hide your angst

They are different managers with different personalities, attributes, abilities and approaches

It is probably the case that Manning could not have managed what NP was asked to do, and achieved, over the last two and a half years.

it could well be the case that NP could not have managed what Manning will go on to achieve in the next couple of seasons.

All of this is spot on, NP did as well as anyone could expect for which he deserves as much credit as many on here is/was giving him, for me his time was up and the decision made came at the right time

It was the same last season right up to the point it became mathematically impossible he was still talking about the play offs, and then he immediately started talking about how they were going to take the league by storm this season.

In my long life it's been the same every season, i dread to think what it would be like if they ever found themselves in 8th place in the championship

My perception is that there are quite a few that are still hanging on to their dislike of the Pearson sacking, but not just Pearson the crayon boy quip, nest egg, front foot, top 6 and of course the Muppet quote to a picture of Jon and Steve at the game Friday, in game time.

Pearson was a sour puss, that's a given, Manning is not and i can see the players are up for it.

Agreed, i hate these disrespectful and offensive comments

  5. I was all for NP going (that's not too say he didn't do a decent job) and all for the appointment of Manning, at the moment it is far, far too early to say if Manning was the right choice or not but the signs are good and he is getting something out of Memheti that NP couldn't which is like having a new player, also the style of play is generally easier on the eye, all about opinions i suppose but it really is time to consign the NP era to the history books, he'll be greatly appreciated by many on here for "steadying the ship" which is fair enough but for me i had had enough and felt he had taken us as far as he possibly could and a change was needed and possibly over-due but as i say, it's all about opinions.

It will always be an injustice.

It kept being brought up because of that injustice and the anger that fans felt and also because to begin with we started to look over our shoulders at the relegation zone.

If you stayed away it was probably because you didn't like to see the support Nige had and that backs up my point about people being anti Pearson.

But anyways, Merry Christmas to you and let's enjoy this game.

Merry Christmas too you also, let’s hope the new year brings some exciting times

There are only certain people that keep mentioning Pearson and that's those that were always anti Pearson. The rest of us have moved on.

You are joking ? You hijacked every single thread by bringing up the injustice of NP being sacked, (with others)

I stopped coming on here for a few weeks because it was so monotonous, I’m just glad that everyone now has seemed to of moved on

The problem was the shortlist wasn't very good and it's a public vote and in the public eye Mary Earps has a lot of followers and fans. The sad thing is, someone like Lanfranco Detorri should have won a lifetime achievement award, not been put forward for the main event which he would never win. I agree KJT would have been more worthy than Mary Earps, and would have been the most fitting winner, but in a popularity contest which is what it is now, those who are in the public eye, followed and adored by many, will win for their popularity rather than achievement.

Agreed, in particular with Detorri, if it’s going to be a “personality” that wins it then he’s your man

I don’t watch it either, so I’m probably no better qualified! But, I guess, being the star player in a national side that’s reached a World Cup final?

You can debate the relative merits of different sports: some would argue that darts or snooker aren’t as worthy of recognition as “proper” sports like football of cricket. But that’s not really the point.

It gives him ammunition, but only ammunition to be nasty. Whatever you think of women’s football, Mary Earps has been successful in her field: more successful than Barton last year, by some distance. Even if you disagree, just be gracious and congratulate a fellow sports person.

For me i would of gave it to Katrina Johnson Thompson, the work and amount of training that athletes, swimmers, cyclists etc have to put in throughout the year to be the best in their sport is unbelievable, for her to come back after all her injuries to retain the world title last year was an amazing achievement, the incredible Ronnie O'Sullivan would of been not far behind, i wouldn't have had Earps in the top 10
