  1. Can’t believe this has even been bought up, a player has a choice of staying on £5000 a week and playing at the likes of Rotherham, PNE etc or he can multiply his salary 6 fold and play at Anfield, Old Trafford Emirates etc, it’s a no brainer for a player and rightly so and the truth is that we have very little say in the matter and all we can do is try and get as much money as possible for a player

Your another one then Tom that remembers the 80s against that lot ,good thing is think we are slowly clawing it back with them so far behind in attendances , ground structure and never been above us for 20 odd years but the 80s were pretty brutal playing them

When Donawa got that last minute winner against them in about ‘93? Released many many years of frustration, in my top three of best days ever at AG

I don't think *every* game against them though. Not "One nil down, two-one up, we knocked Rovers out the cup". There may have been others.

It was a figure of speech, of course that cup win there was very special but i think we paid for that for the rest of the decade !!!

It's so bloody frustrating. When I saw he had singed for those in-breds I was worried, as he knows where the back of the net is the frigging traitor.

As it is they lost

But Chris, PLEASE STOP SCORING FOR THESE WANCHORS, as all they deserve is complete misery for wearing that clown of a shirt, with slap on Brut, Coconut Dandruff, Black Teeth, No Teeth, Denham Jackets, and Garden Centre Trainers.

They're known for Donkey jackets not "Denham" jackets (whatever they are)

In your opinion!  Not just yours, admittedly.  Others have said the same.

We had 7 forwards for our 3 positions / roles:

    Left to right:

    Mehmeti / Bell - Conway / Wells - Sykes / Weimann / Cornick

Based on our recruitment, who should we have not bothered with? Don't say McCrorie.  And out of Roberts, Dickie, Knight and TGH (loan), what budget were you allocating?

And what about the retrofit story re budget taken up?

Its not Manning who’ll be pulling rabbits out of the hat btw.

The stupid thing is - there should’ve been budget to strengthen the squad after Alex was sold, regardless of what you, me or the gatepost think was the necessary position.  But maybe it is dawning on you that the club chose the “self-harm” route, because of the way they felt about Nige.  They have in effect wasted 26 games of the season as a result.

Thats my version of the reality of the situation.

    Whats yours?

Out of those seven i would only class 20 year old Conway and 33 year old Wells as out and out centre forwards, both have been injured and/or out of form for much of the season, it's patently obvious then and now we need a CF and i would of put that need in front of all our other recruitments, just my opinion mind.

A striker is an absolute most imo, need a talk physical striker for games like this. And an attacking midfielder.

Have no answer for a teams low block whatsoever.

We needed a striker in the summer but whatever money we had went elsewhere, for me we needed a striker more than anything, hopefully Manning can pull some rabbits out of the hat in this month’s transfer window

Got some mates who made a last minute decision to come today

£42 for a ticket for a non member

disgusting pricing and now all 3 have decided not to bother

on the flip side... barely any tickets left

These prices constantly puts my boys and many of their friends off, they play on Saturdays so can only make a few games a season prices permitting

Bristol City brought 1,122 to The Den last season for a fixture just before Christmas and that obviously included London & SE based fans. So I don’t think I am talking non sense when I suggest that you’d take a similar percentage of home fans (from Bristol) to us for a New Years Day match costing £35 🤷🏻‍♂️

You’re probably right, not sure how many we took to Watford on Boxing Day but we sold out our allocation at Brum last Friday night which was decent considering there is no late trains back to Bristol from New Street

Yeah, I didn’t say no women and children watch us away, just that it will be a lower % than any other club due to the crap we have to put up with from locals and local police forces.

Also my cousin sent me this… so who knows… not sure why he’d lie?!

Read somewhere that the line is closed between Swindon & Bristol because of flooding, going back to away following you do have it tough because of restrictions and to be honest I wouldn’t be bothered with all the hassle, it’s why I stopped going to the Welsh away games because they were “bubbles” our away numbers have been excellent this season and figures are slightly distorted due to midweek/Friday away fixtures at far off places like Hull & Blackburn

I used to park at Ashton Park School and to renew this season was £325, which to me was an absolute piss take. I now use the park and ride service.

Anyone paying that sort of money must have more money than sense

In the last 4 games Rovers have won 3 times, two of which were against the top 2. I'm not going to be the one to overhype us, I think we'll finish somewhere in the 8th-12th range, but here's a question. If winning a league game each against the top 2 (let's presume Portsmouth and Bolton finish top 2 for now, but right now it's comparative) isn't particularly noteworthy, when was the last time City did it in the Championship (hint: or equivalent before...)

In 1977 we beat Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal (home and away) Spurs & Leeds to stay up in the top flight 😀 ‘ave some of that

Remember it well, I was only 12 (!) then & went with my old man.

Definitely saw Oxford, Pompey & Rovers away with him that season, too. Think I possibly might have done Luton as well.

Just great times watching a wonderful team.

That Rovers game on Good Friday was mental, the most I’ve ever seen City have at Eastville, had to stand on the dog track because the Muller Road end was so packed

Last time I remember being in Wedlock's was the day of Charlton in the FA Cup, as I was going out the door Michael Grade was walking in (like he was walking on to a yacht). Was he wearing a hat? Was he smoking a cigar? Was he giving "it" the "big 'un" ? Had Les Kew not known who the frug he was/turnt him away from the Directors' Lounge? I'll say yes but don't hold me to it.

Funnily enough one of my memories of that game was Grade sat at the end of a row in the second block nearest the open end, had a cigar in his mouth all game, pretty lively at the end of the game as well by the park !!!

No thanks, they can fu5k off and die. We would've stagnated or regressed so much if we had to play that shower again in the league.

They are everything that is wrong about this city from that stolen tented 5hithole they call a ground to that Argyle dirge the lemmings drone out or to the family club employing an outright thug and turning a blind eye to every controversial thing he says or does.

I wouldn't care less if we never play them again.

Agree 100%, the 1980’s were a horrendous time with many bad memories of our many defeats against them, I never want to see us play against them again during  whatever time I have left on this earth, we’d be in a lose-lose situation every time.

How do you determine it's not a mass popularity sport?

There are several race meetings EVERY day in UK except Christmas eve and day

These "smaller meetings are always attended by several hundred spectators

The larger meeting in most weekend are attended by thousands

And the major meetings if which there must be 20 UK wide going on for several days are attended globally by millions

That's in addition to the people who view on TV every day!

Racing is huge, massively so and while I certainly don't want an argument with you or others about it, long may it continue!

Good point, I would  imagine racing attracts many many more spectators in a year than women’s football, the Epsom Derby used to regularly attract a quarter of a million
