I think he’s lost a yard of pace which makes a difference to his game, where he would be able to turn and get in front of the defender to go through on goal, invariably he’s having to physically battle for the ball. The Leicester game was a really good example of that. That’s not to say he’s finished but it does remove one of his strengths.

Personally i think we need an upgrade, he's a very likeable guy and i hope he proves me wrong next season, will be interesting to see which strikers we sign in the summer particularly if Conway leaves as expected, there are big question marks over all our current strikers for various reasons (too young, too old, too crap)

I don’t think that people were immediately on his back. He clearly was not helped by the background of his appointment nor some of the rhetoric that came from the club when he was appointed. Arguably that’s not a fair element to judge him by, but football is passionate and passion does not always bring about rational and fair minded thought.

I think some of the performances and the results that have gone with them have not helped. He’d managed to conjure some dreadful stuff on the pitch, and then followed that up with poor post match interviews where he fell back to his mantra, emotions, behaviours, blah blah.

Perhaps he is turning it around, although I don’t think he’s done enough to be in credit yet. He has averted some pressure and given himself more time and probably the opportunity to bring in players as all managers want to do. That’s ultimately what he’ll be judged on

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head in your first paragraph

in regards to the “dreadful stuff” we’ve had to put up with that for the majority of the last five years and is not something he is going to change overnight, all I’ve been saying is give him a bit of time (not three months) then judge him

As I say, I wasn't sure which way it was going to go with him. Just felt a bit uncomfortable with the timing and nature of the backlash.

He might not be the answer but I get the impression that he has a work ethic, ambition and the players are playing for him and believing in him. Can't ask much more than that.

If he succeeds, I think most of us think it will be despite those above him, not because of them.

I think he's shown a lot in the last two games of what people were berating him for in terms of tactics, game management and subs.

I'm not being all knowing after the event. I think most of his critics, you included, gave a rationale for the criticism.

    Some weren't quite so measured.

Agree 100%, found it really strange how quickly so many (particularly who I would regard as reasonable posters) were on his back, personally I’ve enjoyed more games in the last three months than I have in the last three years

I'm personally disappointed because I was in conversation with someone on here and senior people in the club many weeks ago about the game being used

I know the guy gets plenty of flack but I believe it was Downsy who took it on himself to contact people he was aware had lost someone to make them aware of this

Like a lot of things, the club are certainly getting right but also are learning from "mistakes"

I'm meeting with the club on Thursday about other things but if not then I'll certainly raise about a longer period of notice at the first available opportunity, especially as we're coming out of an international break where news from the club was quiter than in season

I know the club liked photos being used but there are real concerns about the upset caused last time around

My personal opinion is that Tom Rawcliffe is settled in his role now and is very proactive and will listen and act on as much as possible to assist supporters. Sadly with the continual changing of staff in the past months things have slipped through the net. But given time fan engagement will improve

He was excellent when we requested a mention a couple of years ago for a family member, he went above and beyond

Went on plenty of those...remember the train breaking down on the way to Orient..fairly sure we had one to Gillingham one season and possibly York..awful trains..no heating and most of the light bulbs were unscrewed and thrown out the windows before we had left Temple Meads.

That Gillingham game was mid ‘80s with Bobby Hutch’ getting a couple in a 3-1 win, always remember the train going right underneath the massive stand at Stamford Bridge

Is there anything we can do to stop new accounts?

this Lez, Chris, Dog, etc thing is becoming a joke.

can we restrict posts to say 1 per day for 10 days, or something like that?

It’s no big deal Dave, we’re not gaschat, I’m still gobsmacked how some people manage to get banned several times, otib must be the most liberal forum around!!

I’ll volunteer to balance the train up by sitting on the right, I’m lucky enough to see the views all the time.

And as tempting as frigates and diesel depots sound, on this occasion I’m more interested in pubs for away fans or fans nor wearing colours?

I haven’t watched City there for over two decades and always remember getting a drink was problematic.

See you in the penny-come-quick 😁

I’m not saying that’s great but seeing as he usually gets the last 15 minutes now he’s not exactly getting much chance to improve on that.

Obvious as he goes into the last year of his contract that his best days are behind him, but he has a decent availability record & with rumours Conway (almost certainly) & Cornick (possibly) could be off this summer he’s a useful experienced back up player.

Personally I wouldn't waste any money on a "back up player"

Because the Opening Post is from a multiple-username, previously multiple-banned poster who is just on here to wind people up.

The purest definition of a complete c++t as OTIB gets.

Haha, how does someone manage to get banned multiple times, what’s he been banned for previously?

New to this site. Don’t go to many games now but have been to many over nearly 50 years. Would love to see city in the top division again but it has to be done without risking the existence of the club. Steve lansdown has given the club a sound footing but why should he spend all his money chasing the premier league. As I say I’m new here, see a lot of negativity to Bristol sport. Why is that?

Oh dear, get your tin-hat on 😆

  11. 7 minutes ago, Silvio Dante said:

To be serious for a minute, and without accusing you of being Bristol Sport, it is a reasonable question and you have to consider a couple of factors:

    - Most seriously, the period post Pearson sacking where the club thought it would be a good idea to have numerous Bristol Sport employees - often with their work email - register for the forum and be ridiculously positive about the club. What it’s done is foster a lot of distrust, particularly to new posters who may be amenable to Tinnion/Manning/BS. Those posters may be genuine, but the club has fostered an environment where voices in their favour are treated as bad actors. Thats on them, not anyone else

    - The “good actors” who are pro LM and BT are, to be frank, pretty poor posters as a cohort. They don’t post when we lose and then pipe up with “everything is awesome” when we don’t. They seem to be unwilling to engage with any narrative that isn’t Liam is the messiah and Brian is a tecknikal genius. That in turn makes them look like unreliable witnesses and diminishes any points made.

So, if you want to know who to blame - just go to the HPC and ask for the guy with the crayons and the Geordie.

A lot of people are just pro Bristol City irrespective of which dire manager is in charge it doesn’t necessarily make them pro or anti LM

This place is crazy. One win doesn’t change the fact he has been incredibly poor since being appointed. Today was good and if it carries on then brilliant, but we need consistency and we’ve been here before. Always expected us to win today, we always do in these types of games.

We certainly don’t usually do well against top teams particularly a team as good as Leicester.

We’ve been poor in some games, average in others and very good in some, very much Bristol City of the last six years, the only difference for me is that we have played our good games against top sides which hasn’t been the norm over the years

Yeah the amount of people getting back in to bed again with Manning is wild to me.

What I saw today was good, but that's the minimum expectation I have when watching this club. The vast majority of games this season have been well below this standard, I've seen enough.

The vast majority of games in the last five years have been well below standard, Mannings had five months and his tenure is going from the sublime to the ridiculous and back again, as usual, it’s more consistency that’s needed because when we are good we are good and when we are bad we are very bad

Good win both, but Saints and Leicester both in shaky form when visiting. Played both at a good time.

You are a joker, Southampton we’re on an unbeaten run of 25 games, please give credit where credit is due, I know that’s very difficult for many on here

There were no silver spoons in KW (unless they were nicked).

Seeing as you’ve asked I’ve had no time served in the armed forces but 40 years in mental health services and still counting helping others in the NHS, anyway, apologies to Redoxo for the insensitive and thoughtless remark, too many ciders yesterday is no excuse
