Blue?
New Year’s Eve, or possible the day before maybe if I recall? They’d gone the calendar year unbeaten at home to that point
If you don't think it's blue what would you call it?

Really appreciate you taking the trouble to spell it out, thanks. As it happens it is, in fact, pretty much what I've tried to do myself, but for whatever reason it hasn't worked. That may, however, say more about me than it does about the technology! I'll probably use one of my devices to watch tonight, but will have another go at this on a future occasion to see if I can crack it. (It may, as you say, be a compatibility issue that I can do nothing about.) In the meantime, thanks again for your help, hope it still works for you tonight as it has done on previous occasions, and above all, enjoy the game! Not expecting to get anything out of this one, to be honest, but you never know...
I have managed to get midweek Robins TV games on our Panasonic TV but it did buffer quite a bit and wasn't as good as watching on our desktop PC.

Didn't we win 1-0 there a few years after as well?

Remember this victory at St Mary's when we played in blue and LJ scored the winner?

That’s just one option.
Other options are selling up completely, selling off bits, etc.
I believe one of the groups who were looking at investing were gonna buy the whole lot…City, Stadium, Bears, Sporting Quarter, etc.
I do wonder that having not seen anyone “bite” on the (too high a) price they wanted, they are looking more heavily at sharing the load and just seeking investment to join them. But how much would someone put on without control?
Of course it's all speculation as we don't know what discussions have taken place but JL said the Lansdown's weren't going to "walk away" and that they had a long term commitment to the club.

I thought JL said the Lansdown's weren't looking to sell the whole of Bristol Sport, just looking for an additional investor who had expertise which would benefit the group.
At least with the ground ring-fenced we won't be attracting asset-stripper type owners so I think it's a good thing. It's quite normal for businesses to get commercial properties on long-term leases in any case, can't see it putting genuine investors off.

That fan certainly doesn’t represent my views. For me it’s about the football end of. I eat good food at home or go to a restaurant, drink beer or cider that I like down the local boozer where I want to be with wife, son or mates, go to gigs when I want to stand around and listen to music and if the Bears lose 69-0 on the same day and the Flyers have two players sent off/sin binned, whatever it is, so ******* what, literally don’t give a ****.
“City fans should be happy the bears won” was one of the comments our esteemed owner has made in the last year or two. Sorry Stevie, I wasn’t bothered then and ain’t bothered now. Anyone remember the free ticket offers to watch each other’s games that went down like a sack of shit?
I can see where you're coming from, I've been going for over 50 years now and it used to be a couple of pints in The Robins and watch the match, but having watched the team play in the 80s at the bottom of Div 4 in front of 4k crowds in a stadium falling apart I really appreciate the matchday experience now. The new facilities have opened up the game to thousands of new fans, my wife loves going to the match but would never have put up with the old stadium, gates have increased to about the level they were in Div 1 in the 70s, in the old Div 2 we used to get 12000 if we were lucky.

It's easy on here to think most fans are anti-Lansdown, but it's actually only about 20 or 30 people who keep repeat-posting their opinions. There's no reason why they shouldn't but looking at the fans forum, and talking to people at the stadium on matchdays this isn't representative of the fan base in general.

I thought we played a much higher line defensively, Boro did the same which compressed the play into the midfield, especially in the first half which is partly why there weren't many attempts on goal.
It will be interesting to see how we fare at Southampton. I won't judge Manning untill he's had 10 games in charge then we should have an idea how things will pan out.

I would rather we still had NP as our manager but can see no problem with this. He is on a hiding to nothing at the moment, a large% of the fan base are wishing failure/ ambivalent and will pick up on anything negative. Not his fault, down to the owners. Conversely there is nothing wrong with observation/ constructive criticism.
How come you think a large percentage of fans want the team to fail? You obviously weren't at the game today

What was your response to criticism of LJ ?
It depends what the criticism was

I don’t see any posters being put off posting and criticising Nige!!! They all seem to be willing to take their turn. That’s kinda why there are posts defending him…and imho there are lots of things to defend him on. As per my previous post, if OTIBers used year on year progress to mean league table / points improvement under LJ, why wouldn’t you use the same criteria for Nige. If OTIBers think the defence of Nige on here is a weak defence, explain why that is so / challenge back. It’s better than resorting to “cult of Nige” retorts from some which adds nothing.
FWIW I think Nige was anything but perfect.
I only got involved in this thread since Edgy_Red indicated he had been put off posting by the response to his comments

It’s fine to criticise Nige, it is also fine to challenge that criticism. Most of the challenge of criticism of the “he didn’t improve us” is justified challenge back.
Even if we ignore the mess he took over, he improved us in league position, points, goal difference. All good, basic barometers of improvement. So why wouldn’t criticism receive challenge back. If you then add the context of the situation we found ourselves in, staying in this division comfortably is success.
Everybody's entitled to their opinion but it's been a bit like lynch mob mentality on here lately where anybody saying anything even slightly critical of NP gets jumped upon, which is why you don't get a balanced view on here any more, people are just put off from posting.

Thanks for your (blunt) response.
Your reply to my view is a prime example of why i don't post very often.
I have been supporting City for over 40 years and it is my opinion (shared by a number of others) that the quality of football under Pearson did not improve during his time in charge. I respect your opinion if you feel it did.
I liked Nige and would have supported the team today in the same way as i will for Liam Manning. I will be at the game by the way!
Good for you, you made the mistake of vaguely criticising Nige which inevitably gets a negative response from his fan club on here.
-
Whatever the expectation I'm sure Manning will be given a fair crack of the whip here as has been the case with previous appointments (unlike most other clubs) and that in time we'll be able to judge whether the decision to make the change was good or bad.

Like I say, feast or famine.
9/23 is a 40% win ratio or close to...middling sure.
NP and the continuation to Fleming about 37.5%. Middling again.
The numbers were skewed somewhat by the horrible run that finally ended late October 2021.
Obviously if you ignore the "horrible run," then the figures look a lot better but unfortunately they all count!

We went almost 4 months unbeaten at home last season.
Except for the Man City game obviously, bit feast or famine at home at times.. won 4 of our first 5 home League games too.
If you look at the last 3 seasons our home form has been poor. That run you mentioned we won 5 home games in those 4 months and another 4 during the rest of the season so really wasn't that great out of 23 games.
-
We haven't had a decent run of form at home for ages now so hope that Liam will crack it although tomorrow might be a bit difficult with Boro in such good form, I'd take a draw but hope for a win
-
I'm pretty sure Nige was sacked because relationships with the management had completely broken down, you could tell that from his last few interviews.
Re the squad Nige said he was happy with it at the start of the season and targeted the top 6 so it wasn't just what JL said.

I tend to agree, one or more of the Champ playoff teams will likely be inconsistent, just the nature of the league.
You need to get 10 (9.5)points per 6 games to achieve the 15 year average of 73 points.
Personally I think that had we steered clear of injuries, and / or invested a bit of the Alex Scott money, and not left a one or two points out there, then we be closer to the mix than 5 points off. We’d think differently. As it’s happened, we are on 22 from 16 and 4 points off of 6.
But the squad is thin, it’s exposed by injuries, we didn’t use the Alex Scott money and we are imho short of being a top-6 side.
For me, we wasted some of that opportunity with Nige as manager.
The question becomes what will they do for LM in January if we are still in a similar position.
There are 10-games before the window opens and we can sign a player to play (1st Jan v Millwall is too soon). That will be 26 games, and at current rates will be 36 points. The team in 6th will be on 42, 6 points ahead.
Of course we could be closer, we could be further adrift. There are three further league games whilst the window is open, possibly only two if we get through the 3rd round of the FA Cup (or our opponents on 4th round day are otherwise engaged).
It still feels a bit churlish to have not backed Nige, whether they were planning to extend his contract or not. The recruitment policy should be pretty much “manager agnostic”, and recruitment is generally improving, so why hamper the football club’s (the manager should be irrelevant) quest for PL football.
Poor decision making in August / summer window (or March if you fully believe the back-story).
Why?
I thought we were told (by JL) that Scott money paid for our early summer signings in anticipation of him leaving at some point during the window? Also we don't know how much money we have received up front for the transfer, in another thread it was estimated to be as low as £5m? I guess we'll never know for sure?

How on Earth did teams travel to each other in those days!
Train? Horse and cart?
Some of those journeys I still wouldn’t make now!
Must have been trains, there were a lot more local stations in those days

It's probably been done to death, but what's the main theory why we went from being a fairly top club in the early days to a century and more of being totally average? Was there some financial disaster in the 1920s or something I've never heard about?
It's probably just that the other teams started later than us and got better over time and overtook us.
