OMG are you talking about the England Cricket team or our club at BS3. Very similar expectations I think.

I think Bedminster CC would have put up more of a fight TBH

Elephant Seal. Not as fast as David Seal.

South Georgia? Did you see the memorial to Ernest Shackleton?

His grave? If so yes, it's in the graveyard at Grytviken.

South Georgia is the most stunning place i've ever visited, love to go back and visit again.

  3. When i worked in Antarctica, we (the base staff) went out and shot a penguin and seal, butchered them and had a BBQ.

Not the tastiest of BBQ's i've ever had tbh.

  4. Could be a nightmare to get into his club in Lewdown, no jeans, no trainers sometimes a tie needed many peoples (usually blokes) night out ruined and spent sitting in the coach in the car park!

A great night out once inside!!

    RIP

Tim Paine has fallen on his (pork) sword!

Not the kind of thing the Aussies will want just before the Ashes but may end up working in their favour as it will mean they can select someone based on ability now.

Just to point out that the woman in question has scored as many test centuries as Tim Paine, zero.

I don`t know. The line`s already there as far as Meldon and from Plymouth you can get to Bere Alston so there`s `only` about twelve miles missing. It won`t follow the old route I know as it would cost an absolute fortune just to buy back the land - and quite a few owners have already said they will not sell under any circumstances - but there are options. Via Launceston for instance, most of the old track route is still there and used as a bridleway (a bit of it is only a mile or so from my house) so potentially Okehampton - Launceston - Callington - Gunnislake (where there is a line to Plymouth) is a possibility.

I doubt it will happen in my lifetime though.

LR i'm not having a dig at you, please don't take it that way, i'm from Plymouth and I used to go upto Bere Alston regularly as a kid and teenager as my best mate's family were from there and we used to go up and see his grandparents. I also used to travel from Plymouth to Aberdeen/Gt Yarmouth when i used to work in the offshore oil and gas industry 30yrs ago i know first hand the issues around Dawlish

Have you been on the line from Plymouth to Gunnislake? That line is only suitable for DMU or similar, i'm no train buff but i think the biggest engine that ever went up that route was a Class 31. At a couple of places on the route the driver has to physically get out of the cab and retrieve a token to gain entry to that section of the line.

The cost would be huge to construct something suitable to take the new Hitachi trains, something the money for HS2 should be spent on, not building HS2

I to hope it gets built but realistically i cant see it.

Have look at this, the train upto Princetown back in the day, fantastic film, i'd recommend watching it all if you have 1/2hr to spare

Great bit of rail news down here today. The Okehampton - Exeter service has been reinstated and initially from November there will be trains at two hour intervals seven days a week increasing to hourly from next year. I will now be able to get a train from six miles from my house to Parson Street and back if I want @Never to the dark side

The beginning of the reinstatement of the inland route from Exeter to Plymouth hopefully.

That'll never happen and the only reason Oke has been re-opened is HS2

Apologies if I am hijacking this thread but I would be grateful if anyone could tell me how much a decent battery storage system would cost for the solar panels.

Assume a home for 2 adults who generally will be in during the day. I understand the concept that this will help us in the daytime use of all domestic appliances. Batteries will help for night-time use. However, I haven't seen any estimates as to the cost. All I can see from MoneySavingExpert etc is that we can save around £95 to £230 per year off our normal electricity bill. I know that Northern Ireland is somewhat North of Bristol but it would give me a good idea of what I can expect. BTW, whilst we are still part of the UK we don't get the scheme you get re extra payments for selling electricity back to National Grid. We can sell but not under the scheme.

Any thoughts on the above would be welcomed.

    Many thanks

The company I install for also do solar PV.

On the jobs where i've been doing GSHP/ASHP and the customer has had solar PV fitted it's usually been between £7-9k with battery storage.

Anybody ever fitted one? Seems quite simple but can you connect the 'waste' output to your domestic waste pipe under the sink or does it have to go into the main drain?

Mrs wants another toilet even though we've already got 2.

Any advice would be more than welcome.

Yes and photos would be good before I reply
