Good luck to him. It's not his fault he's been offered the job and accepted it (if he has). I will reserve judgment until I see what happens on the pitch over the next season or two and how much budget he is given compared to the man he is taking over from.

Season or 2 !! You really think he will be here that long?

We all know ££ is suddenly going to be found down the back of a sofa

Oh right. So the hierarchy won't trust a proven, experienced Manager but will trust a nobody with hardly any senior management experience and no Championship experience with cash to spend.

City are turning in to a footy version of The Office.

Lapping it up I think is a little over the top. Maybe looking foward to hopefully seeing city really attack teams and be more cut throat on the ball rather than it be as boring as it has been for a while now.

So a coach that didn't last in L2 and then has a about 12 games in L1 is going to come in to the Championship and start really attacking teams?

Or he could be the one to push us on? Christ talk about being negative for sake of it

It's a crap appointment. All week OTIB has gone in to meltdown about NP and rightly so. Then just a few days later City fans are lapping it up that we've landed Manning as the replacement for NP. It's embarrassing.

My fear is the opposite. Manning has got both his last two teams to play exciting, attacking football. It only fell apart at MK when the owners sold his best two players and he couldn’t replace them (sound familiar much?). I fear that we will appoint one of the mediocre currently out of work managers/coaches instead (which is what an appointment this afternoon would suggest).

So he lost his 2 best players and then couldn't get a tune out of the rest of the squad in League 2. So what happens if he loses 2 of his best players in the summer at City then?

Not having a dig at anyone on OTIB, though I seem to ruffled a few feathers. I just don't get how Manning should be anywhere near the best option for the City job. Or is it that he's viewed as the best of a bad bunch?

If it was just this forum I think it would hold water.

The general reaction on wider social media is unlike any I've seen since I started supporting. It's new ground for us, the next appointment needs to be excellent and or a clear and obvious upgrade IMO.

Of course you are right Mr P.

Nobody and I mean nobody is going to convince me that Liam Manning is the right man for the job or anywhere near being an upgrade.

We are only seeing it from one side

not long ago some want him gone

    playing players out of position

we don’t know what has really happened

we need it get behind the team

The board may not always get it right

but what they have done / built we are lucky to have them

Nigel gone now let just get behind the team

I've read this over and over and I didn't know where to start a reply for ages.

I've come to the conclusion that you posted this to get some nibs from fellow OTIB members. If that is the case, congratulations. I have given you not just a nib but I've gone hook, line and sinker!

I will be running onto the pitch naked shouting "Bring back Nigel!".

You will be able to recognise me because I will be carrying a copy of the Evening Standard.

The Pink Un would be more apt.

Support and blind support sums up the situation imo. Some will support the club by refusing to tow the line when the club is lying to them and taking them for granted, that's blind support. Of my boss is running the business into the ground it's not a great stance to say "well done boss, I'm right behind you" when you could say "I don't agree with this, I think it's not helping". The bloke support will see the business fail, the support of standing against the bad decision gives the business a fighting chance and therefore is still supporting it.

I'm not going to be a blind supporter, Jon Lansdown and this board are the only constant in our failure to achieve what they say they're trying to achieve.

Pearson set out to keep us competetive despite being tasked to cut costs and have key assets sold out from underneath him, he did that and still got sacked, essentially the board got impatient of him trying to do a heart impossible task of getting Premiership football whilst selling all of our Premier League quality players and then being expected to find replacements for pennies.

I support this club, you call it what you like, I've been assaulted more times than I care to discuss for wearing my City shirt as I live in Cardiff, I've gone to work and taken endless amounts of abuse when Cardiff were in the Premier League and I don't regret it. I've put more money than I care to admit into this club and I'll continue to support it. What I don't support is a board that demands we turn up and support the team whilst they hamstring it and then lie about it.

There have been so many statements such as "Pearson is not bigger than the club, we should support the players" etc but does this mean the board are bigger than the club because our fans seem happy for them to remain, or at least complicent enough to keep doing what the board want of them by turning up and cheering the lads on whilst they put out crap interviews that are pre planned and full of shit.

You can call my support into question all you like, but sometimes you have to take a stand and as I've said before, the only consistent in our failure at this point is the board, everyone else has come and gone with the result staying the same.

    Good Post Spike.

Fair play to you wearing a City shirt in Cardiff. F@ck that for a game of soldiers!

I'm not sure I agree with all of your post and I'm sure you haven't posted it and expect everyone to agree with all of it.

What I do agree with and I'm sure so many others do is share is the pure exasperation of the situation JL and co have put us in. It's not just that though is it? The fact is that JL and Co and those before before him keep f@ckin up on gigantic scale and expect us to lap it up. We aren't SAGS and we won't just accept crap interviews as fact and true.

A happy clapper or deciding not to go anymore and everything in between. I may not be happy about someone else's stance but I tend to accept it because it is their choice.

As it happens, I can't go tomorrow but this terrible feeling of exasperation would still not put me off going to our matches.

I really fear for the next appointment whoever that will turn out to be. For no other reason than whatever is trotted out, I can't see past NP. He is and was the most suitable Manager for us, for the next 2+ years.

I'm starting to ramble now but I wanted to post to say that I feel your pain and I'm sure many others do as well. Stay safe over there in Cardiff.

I've not heard that for years. I laughed when I read that.

Been sang so many times in years gone by. One of my personal faves was directed at Johnny Byrne playing for Sunderland. He ended up sticking at least 1 finger up to the East End. Days!!

Money, size of club, bigger fanbase; quality of stadium and training ground, squad…

Is why I didn’t think Mousinho would be a goer. Portsmouth have all of that.

I don't think Mousinho is a goer either.

However, quality of stadium (have you been to Fratton Park?) and training ground ( PFC is not particularly good) aren't the reasons why.

What happened to our famous pillars? Just asking

The 5 Pillars did pop up on an NP related Topic earlier in the week. I replied on the lines of 'I'm logging off now before I post something I will regret'.

Pearson was sacked on Sunday, much as I’m still disgusted by that, I can’t really complain he hasn’t been replaced inside 5 days.

It will not be Curtis Fleming.

    I'd rather Curtis Stigers.

Here we go again with the Same as usual.

I thought it would be a Lifetime Together with NP but then I thought After you've gone, I wonder why there can be nobody else.

I'll get my coat! (not a Curtis Stigers song).

I know what you mean, looking at the map it should be a piece of cake from here in south Devon. Truth is I could drive to a few midland clubs quicker.

I’m taking the train this time as I can’t be arsed with that south coast road.

I live a few miles from you. The train to Southampton is an @rse ache. Usually about 3 hours at least one change. What time do the trains run until coming back?

Andy King I reckon will be Assistant Coach, with Eustace (or similar) as Head Coach. The King appointment would tick many boxes, including 'reaching out' to the many Pearson lovers.

    Let's face it.

Whoever it is and whoever the assistant or coaching team is. It will polarise the fanbase. The main reason being there are no standout candidates apart from NP and they and he would never have that.

And so, my long suffering fellow City fans. We will ultimately, accept whoever the new incumbents are and get behind the team. It's what we do and I can't see that changing unless the hierarchy go full Nuclear and make a Pulis type of appointment.
