Again, the amount of posters who cannot separate the losses of the 'football club' against the massive profits gained in RE holdings, non-sport events, and hundreds and hundreds of newly made freehold's on property is astounding.

BUT - we used to own this club, this land, and a bit around it. Now BCFC own nothing.

Yes Lansdown funds the club - but to say he won't make a huge profit on freehold sales, and the Ashton Vale entertainment / business complex when it's finished is naive at best, duplicitous at worst.

Separate the football from the RE - and then you will see where SL profits.

For fun - ask yourself 'why Botswana'.....

Hope you don’t mind me editing your post down to the key relevant points.

Ashton Vale is key to this and Lansdown supposedly was buying it for the benefit of BCFC.

And sure enough he bought it under the BCFC umbrella, supposedly as BCFC “benefactor” - but BCFC won’t benefit.

Lansdown supposedly altruistic but hides the financial information in secretive Channel Islands companies.

He can do what he wants and doing it very legally including making his ioffspring MD and Chairman (??) but      we will never know if the 55 football clubs in The Premier over the past 30 seasons were just lucky or if we were just very unlucky.

    Or ran badly.

where are all the city fans ?

the so say city fans who haven’t got a ticket yet can still buy a ticket up till 15 minutes after kick off

what is the excuse for not going ? Wet  night  are you a fan or not ? I love these games because we see true fans not the moaning whinging turn ups but true supporters COYR

Must admit was undecided until seeing this yesterday which motivated me to go.

As it happens I enjoyed the game, as poor as we were first half I thought Lincoln very good, second half we created a lot and the stats show we could easily have drawn or even won.

But as for so called true fans, booing after a few minutes, booing a kid making his debut, booing at half time, booing periodically throughout.

    Yes.

    John Pelling.

The story is Cotts / Burt had agreed a fee and wages for both Gray and Maguire, something like £4m / £14k and £2m / £10k (it’s a long time ago now).  They went off on holiday, expecting Pelling to complete the deals.  But Pelling thought he could do a better deal and tried to negotiate down.  Brentford said, we’ll tout him around then, Burnley got interested.  Hull said if you want to play silly buggers it’s now £4m.

Cotts was fuming, City tried to compete with Burnley, but the price was now £6m, Gray wanted £18k and he chose Burnley.  There was a video where he looked really choked up / angry…might’ve been after the Yeovil friendly.

    Maguire could not be resurrected.

Whilst trying to keep the fire burning with Brentford / Gray, we tried to get Gayle from Palace.  It looked as if a £6m fee (rising to £9m) was acceptable to Palace, but Gayle never had any intention of coming here.  I don’t believe we were ever trying to sign both, we had Kodjia already.

Still to this day angers me that happened, we were on a roll, Cotts was a proven winner and had diligently put everything in place to have a real go at going up again.

Within a few months it went from that to Cotts sacked and replaced by JL's mate, mister cliche. Absolutely shocking.

Whoever was responsible for changing the course of our history in an extremely bad way, ultimately Lansdown failed very badly, appointing JL as managing director and chairman was/is a complete travesty.

  5. Top man Beanie, many a day has been ruined today, raised a glass this afternoon with sadness but also pride to have known you mate. Didn't know Beanie as long as many did, but in the years I got to know you over that last 12 years, there is no one that made a bigger impression in my football life and especially England trips. Amazingly funny, top England boy respected across the country, an extraordinary character, never heard a bad word against Beanie, such was the love and respect for an absolute gentleman, for a man with endless hilarious one liners. Loved our football club, loved England, loved his wife, so appropriate going up there same time as our beloved Queen. Truly sad right now. Love to Mandy, and Beanie's other family of course, from me me and Jayne. x  ????:englandsmile4wf:

So at the end of their last match they were booed off and Macca put his finger to his lips to silence the fans ?

According to their fans the recruitment has been very poor and LJ has told then it will take a few transfer windows to be able to challenge the top 2.

I get the feeling if he makes a mess of it here he is finished in management.

So he should be, never should have been given a chance as a player at our level or manager at any level, zero man management skills, but talks great bullshit and so mamy idiots fooled by the patter.

Will get another job somewhere, always another idiot blinded by the CV.

  7. Bristol City wish

    Neil Warnock

Neil Warnock has appeared on Soccer Saturday

During one of a number of memorable appearances on Sky Sports' Soccer Saturday, Warnock spoke of his relationship with the fans of Cardiff's rivals, Bristol City.

“I joke with their fans that, when I do pass away, I hope they all have a minute’s applause for me at Ashton Gate and remember the good times I’ve given them,” explained Warnock. "I don’t want silence. I want them all to be chanting ‘Warnock’s a w*****’ over and over again. For a whole minute. That would be my ideal.”

If you pushed through other people to find a view, then the people behind you obviously did not have a view.

The fact you ensured some other City fans couldn’t see, instead of you, doesn’t change the fact other City fans couldn’t see. There might have been elderly people, people who could not stand without leaning against something or people who have health conditions that make it difficult to push through crowds there but that’s fine. You pushed past them and made sure you were blocking their view rather than them blocking yours.

It seems a bit rich to come onto a forum declaring “I’m all right, Jack, so screw everyone else” and then criticise how others have been “conditioned”. If you want to criticise someone’s mentality, perhaps invest in a mirror?

Nice little attempt to discredit speech that - except your comments are misleading.

By pushing I don’t mean in the literal sense, but anyway, having got through the back couple of rows I moved forwards to the rows in front and  thereby - this is how terracing works - occupied lower rows. So no ones view was compromised and no “I’m alright Jackery”.

Yes the stewards were clueless but equally the small number of fans I saw moaning were lacking in initiative and BTW were not elderly or with noticeable health issues.

The days of packed terraces are in the distant past but it is impossible under today’s crowd restrictions to be unable to get a good view with plenty of space.

In the days of terrace capacities of probably at least twice what they are now, where frequently it genuinely was difficult to get a good view, I nevertheless don’t think I ever came across anyone who would have even contemplated giving up on finding somewhere to stand, you just got on with it and found the best you could.

Quite a few people around me couldn’t see and many said so on social media at the time. I could see no space whatsoever for these people to stand.  Maybe there was a bit of a space where you were but I couldn’t see it and neither could the people near me who gave up and left.

If we/they couldn’t see the space then they couldn’t see the space. To call someone pathetic for that is bizarre

Pathetic yes I’m afraid. As I said I just pushed through a few people to find somewhere to stand with a view, listening to a small number of whingers whinging to stewards as I did so.

Today’s H&S standards dictate there will always be plenty of space on terraces, but in today’s world it seems some people have been conditioned to think that somebody else, in this case a steward, should sort their little difficulty, and somebody else, in this case FGR, are to blame rather than their own inability to show a bit of initiative.

    Incredible.

I said bring off Benarous on about 70. Haha how wrong was I!

Benarous and Scott looked our most calm, experienced players at the end. They got better and better the longer they were on the pitch.

In the last 10-20 they only smashed it long if there was no other way of playing football. The first thought was not to panic.

I would imagine the unsung development coaches should take a lot of credit for that.

Although I'm old and rickety, I'm blessed that I was able to watch The Cheese playing for BCFC.  Man was awesome, just had his career ended too soon.  I'm convinced that he'd have been a full England regular if he hadn't got crocked.  As someone else said, an improvement on Paul Mariner at that time.

It was nice to be in the Lansdown lounge hearing him speak a couple of seasons back at the Hull (5-5) game.  Legend, and a status that was well earned.

Looking at the attachment, the geezer drove a Cortina 1600E.  The stuff that dreams are made of, eh!

    s-l1600-5.jpg

My dad lived near him in Hartcliffe for a while.

Spoke with him at the bar in the Whitchurch Folkhouse once, Shearer had just been transferred for £15 million, Cheese said he would have been worth almost that - Arsenal offered £250k in 1976 if I recall correctly, were turned down by City, and so they bought Malcom MacDonald for £300k instead.

    Love some of his answers:

FAVOURITE OTHER TEAMS: Bristol City reserves and Bristol City youth

BIGGEST THRILL: Scoring for Bristol City (not for example playing for Norwich in a league cup semi final or scoring forNorwich at Anfield)

    BEST COUNTRY VISITED: England

PROFESIONAL AMBITION: To help City gain promotion

    Top man.

    2. All Lives Matter is a racist slogan when used as a response to Black Lives Matter. The people with this banner may not have realised that and I'm quite happy to give them the benefit of the doubt.

A couple of things on this.

Firstly, if the people with this banner didn't realise that "All Lives Matter is a racist slogan when used as a response to Black Lives Matter", it cannot be a racist slogan, to them.

Notwithstanding the above, where is the rule written down which says "All Lives Matter is a racist slogan when used as a response to Black Lives Matter"?

  13. Havent looked for a while but Sunderland fans continue to be unimpressed with the LJ bullshit.

Worst run since 2017/2018 doesn't ruffle Johnson

Just a question of pressing the right re-set button apparently. He's even confident and looking forward to the play offs. Is he right or is he alright?

My instinct tells me he’s waffling shite.

He's done here, proved he's not upto the job.

Needs to reset himself the fkn chancer. If he spent as much time picking the team as he does on selecting his touchline attire we'd be sound. Bloke's not fit for purpose.

Well it should. I dont like him and his smirk.

I’ve watched blokes in betting shops confident that the next one will win and wipe out all their losses. Johnson’s the same as them. He’s a gambler dressed up as a tactical and motivational genius.

johnston thinks he some sort of genius

Why does he always come out with riddles clichés etc. starting to really get on my nerves now. speaks a good game but cant deliver. he would have a great career in politics. dont like him

Lee Johnson says one or two players have been affected by their contract situation at #SAFC.

Sounds to me like he's throwing them under the bus.

Seems like it’s look at them and not Lee scenario

    He's such a bullshit merchant. ******' hell.

Maybe they don't know their pomos from their super strengths.

Surely all the other clubs must have some players in the same situation...?
